  With only one host in place and vCenter Server as a virtual machine running on this host, you cannot use Update Manager. Your options are either interactively update the host using a CD or update patch / the host from the command line using esxcli.

  His is very simple for the improvement of the 55u1 in 552. Just download the 55U2 Installer. It's a minor update, so there is no DB schema change. You don't need to worry about certificates if it has not expired. After upgrade the same certificates would work.

  Please update your configuration in the following order

  1.) unique virtual Centre upgrade on 55 U1 U2.

  2.) inventory upgrade Service 55 U1 U2.

  3.) client upgrade Web and Vsphere client if you have 55 U1 U2.

  4.) upgrade Center virtual server 55 U1 U2.

  After the upgrade:

  -All the service would work fine

  -The data will be intact

  -Same user and permissions work

  Note: Please do not use simple for the process described above minor update installation for Windows VC. Some important links are below

  Maybe I'm missing something, but you should be able to install vCenter 5.0 Update 2 installation image.

  I'm still not sure that understand your problem with Update Manager. Update Manager does not update vCenter Server support, this must be done manually.
