It turns out that, contrary to the information that I have seen elsewhere, legal size paper MUST be analysed the ADF, not the dish. (iv) deleted and reinstalled the software and drivers printer on my laptop.  My laptop is in communication with the printer as evidenced by my ability to scan using HP Scan wireless, but I'm unable to print the document once it is scanned.  Finally, I am able to print the network settings Page in the menu of the printer, but not the printer web page... I get an error message saying 'the printer is busy. Try again later.  Any ideas to fix this frustrating problem would be greatly appreciated.  I apologize if my descriptions are not technically accurate because I am a novice when it comes to computers and networks.  Thanks a lot for your help.

I really appreciate it.  You beat me to the punch... only a few hours ago, I was able to get the printer working again... but I forgot to update my post.  As you recommended, I have reset the printing system, downloaded a new driver... hpprinterdriver3.1.dmg... added a new printer... restart the printer, my router and my laptop... and the printer from work once again from my Mac.  Yet once again, I appreciate your efforts... Bravo.

  I use a Mac Pro, system 10.6.8 just installed and started using the printer a couple of days, and everything is up-to-date software-wise. Everything else on the machine works beautifully.

  Please, try the following steps:

  1 open the HP utility and select your device.
  2. based on Scan Settings open the "Scan to Computer".
  3. click on the tab "scan tasks.
  4. Select the shortcut Scan allows to analyze, and then click on edit.
  5. in the section of scanning from an HP device, click the blue triangle to expand the menu.
  6. in the expanded menu now, open the drop down next to cultures in and set as none.
  7. click OK and try to scan the image.

  OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus, Auto Duplex paper too short. Runnig Windows 7 on Envy 17 3D t. How can I get rid of this 2nd icon, it came after I reconnected to the laptop on the USB port a day. Don't troubleshoot the icon that has yellow mark next to him. The printer is wonderful it prints beautifully. What I've done is by clicking OK on the normal icon created when the printer was installed when the message appears on short Duplesx Auto paper, I click ok and it prints fine. It bothers me that there is a second icon with a yellow mark on it. I know this isn't like that. The system finds no problem do you the troubleshooting tools.   A storm on the last week my OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus feeding dish. The printer is irretrievably economic so I ordered a new printer.

  It has no function of machine harvest in the 8600 software. To get the exact size, you will need to manually set the size for the scans that you do. You can find the setting by clicking on the blue link to advanced settings in the first scan window. Will take you to a place that will allow you to change the size of the scanning area.   I understand how frustrating this is for you. Windows 10 has made some changes, so that the steps are slightly different from Windows 7.

  Please follow these steps as a guideline:

  1. First of all, we need to locate HP Scan where on the computer. The default location is in Program Files. For example, C:\Program Files (X 86) \HP or Hewlett-Packard.
  2. Go to (C:\Program Files (X 86) \HP or Hewlett Packard HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus\Bin)
  3. Right-click on HP Scan, and then click send to.
  4. Left click on desktop (create shortcut) to place the shortcut on the desktop.
