HP 14-r206nv: Windows activation rejects laptop product key after replacing hard drive

Hello.

The hard drive of my laptop not then the computer was sent to the official service (first back to the store where I bought as it is still under warranty). Today, that she came to me with a new hard drive but with no OS installed, so I tried to install it on my own as I am a student in computer engineering.

I know that in windows preinstalled computers laptops like mine is the product key is stored in the bios I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 64bits (non-professional because I know that you need to install the exact same version). But the problem is that now, windows can not be activated. Activation in internet reports"Error Code: 0xC004C003. "Error description: the activation server determined the specified product key has been blocked '.

So I tried to do an activation phone but microsoft support, they responded that it is not a valid product key and that I should get in touch with the manufacturer! What's wrong?

Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post on activation problems and wanted to help.

Sorry, but that's just one buy volunteers self-help personal forum and we cannot do anything about the problem of activation of here.

As I see it, you have two options (1) of the store and the Support of HP (2).

About the store, they SHOULD have returned the laptop you fully functional.  So if it was MY PC, I would go assault store and REQUEST that they we're right.  You've taken or sent to them to be fixed, not to give cost you a virgin machine!

Regarding technical Support HP, as this PC is still under warranty, you should contact HP Customer Support directly so they put you in contact with HP Tech Support to see what they can do on the diagnosis and repair of your machine remotely.

I did recently, and HP technology was able to remotely access my PC on the Internet and to make the necessary repairs.

If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: once you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to someone ' one - it can take a while!

Good luck

I bought an Asian copy of the South of windows 7 in Malaysia 3 years ago and it has worked very well, recently I went to Singapore and decided to format my laptop and do very little maintenance, but now its gives me this rubbish, I am still in Southeast Asia, what I really need to go back to Malaysia to install it? seems very very annoying.

    Windows product ID: 00426-068-2964761-86079

Recently, there have been a rash of product keys for Windows 7 purchased from auction sites appear here as not authentic.  They appear to be related to this HROnline HrOnline code: 0xC004C4A2. If you have purchased a key of a web site selling auctions (like eBay), please understand that the seller would have sold this product to several people key, causing the key more on the blacklist. These keys were never intended for resale; they were intended for the software development or assessment depending on the program that they were obtained through. If you have purchased one of these keys and it became not genuine with the above code, you must purchase a new license for windows 7. Try to validate by going to www.microsoft.com/geniune and follow the links provided to repair windows.

Added note. You have only a limited amount of time (45 days I think) filing a claim with the auction sites. Stay away from these keys, if you purchased a key that has turned non-genuine and are within 45 days of purchase file a claim. There are publishers of legitimate software on auction sites, but if it sounds too good to be true then don't buy it.

    Things to watch for.

Recently reported several cases of blocked MSDN subscription product keys packed with legitimate research media. I can not stress enough to save your packaging, media and reception, if you buy software such as this to appeal to the Bank, you bought it and report it to www.microsoft.com/piracy.

If you purchased a product key, with or without DVD or packaging of a sale auction web site (e.g. eBay) or any other person or seller and this could be a product key MSDN Subscritpion because your key has been blocked, you can check a few things.  If you have received your key with the physical product go to www.microsoft.com/howtotell and check your product.  However, some counterfeit software is if convince you may not be able to identify it as such.

To check your PID the Win Key Press and have a break at the same time or open system properties in Control Panel, scroll to the activation section and look at the PID.  It will look something like this: 1234567-12345-067-54321.  The part that you are interested in is the section to three figures.  If it matches or is in one or two digits from the examples below, you probably have a "non-destinee for resale" MSDN subscription product key

Suspect: 065, 066, 067 068 for Windows 7 Ultimate edition, 220 area for the professional and the 230, 231 area for Home Premium.  There are probably others, but they should be close to those posted.

  • HP 450 G1 laptop: Windows key after a hard drive failure

    Hi all

I have the following problem. The laptop is dead and I ordered a new HD. Now I want to use the Windows license provided with the laptop. However, I can't find the productkey. Many forumposts refer to a Windows tool that allows to determine the key. But due to the failure of the disk, I can no longer boot into Windows...

    Catch22... Who can help out?

PS. Disk provides an error 340, read out the errors and does not start...

    Hello:

If you live in the USA/Canada, call this number of HP and order a set of recovery disc for your laptop.

    1-800-334-5144

Have the serial number of the PC handy to give to the customer service rep.

Access to, or know the product key for your laptop is worthless.

On all of the PCs that come with the W8 or newer version of the factory, Microsoft has developed a new process of how product keys are stored.

They are stored in the chip of the BIOS on the motherboard, and the only way that they work is if you use recovery discs or installation OEM disc specifically for the version of W8 or newer than the key is good for.

When you install Windows, the key in the BIOS is automatically read and verified by Windows, and the installation continues.

It is therefore necessary to enter the product key when you install an OEM of W8 version or newer.

There is no product more stickers keys, so that the OEM key cannot be used illegally on another PC, because it is a violation of the terms of the licenses of operating system.

  • Product key Windows 7 blocked after replacing hard drive.

Hi all, I need your valuable help please. I surfed on the forums, but have not found an answer.
I installed a real (bought in a London retail store) Windows 7 ultimate on my Sony labtop. All good everything worked.
Then my phone fell and I had to replace my hard drive. I have re-installed Windows 7 Ultimate with my DVD again, all good, and it works.
But now the activation fails. I also did phone activation exercise but it stops and says that my key is invalid.
Basically, I just need the previous facility disabled so I can activate this new installation on my new hard drive again.
How or who done it? I have not found a touch of Windows support for this. Please help, thanks a lot

  • activating windows 7 after replacing hard drive

Yesterday I received my HP Pavilion Slimline s5120f return of service.  Today, I went through the painful process of put my pc as it was before the repair.

So, after the upgrade to windows 7 since vista) I went to turn on and it says that my product key cannot be used.  I'm assuming its because my hard drive has been replaced.

So what I do now?  Should I call HP for another product key?

  • Windows Update does not not after replacing hard drive in the laptop

I had to replace the hard drive in my HP Pavillion DV6911OM. Everything works except Windows update. I tried all the recommended fixes I could find on any site without success. Any ideas anyone?

  • Windows 7 Windows update does not work after replacing hard drive

Win7 Home Premium and HP Pavilion DV6-2150US.  Failed hard drive.  I bought a Seagate 500 GB replacement (original drive was 250 GB) and used my purchased HP re - install DVD to re - build Windows and reinstall the OEM software on the new hard drive.

Everything starts fine, but he won't deal of Windows updates (. e. is a big red X on the screen of windows update).  I tried Microsoft "Mr Fix it" download - but it error and none of the other suggestions Microsoft not work either.  When I had the chance to talk with a MS tech support person, she suggested that somehow windows on the new drive is not authentic, etc...  Although windows on the new drive hard indicates that its active and authentic... is there some kind of checking a number of the hard disk 'really' activate windows?

Just to make sure that my reinstall was not corrupt, I deleted the new hard drive and began in everywhere... I have the exact same result... it boots fine, but will not update through windows update.  The only other change to the laptop was that I had better buy double the memory to 8 of 4 when I bought 2 years ago... once again, do not know if there is a kind of material exchange limitation before disabling the windows software.

Help, please!  I'm really stuck.  THX JimmyC

Thanks for your post... I solved my problem by installing the update driver Intel rapid storage through this link:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02219204

I suppose that as long as the hard drive is lower 250Gig you need not the new driver.  But when I replaced my hard drive failed with a disc 500gig hard - when I did restore HP to Win7 and the OEM software from the dvd, I bought - it put the storage driver original in Win7 - which works very well with a 250 GB drive, but causes the windows update doesn't work is not for readers more than 250gig.   When I installed the driver from the link above file, Windows Update started working - and you can imagine there are many, many fixes since my PC has been restored to original Win7 - doesn't not even Win 7 SP1.

I hope it helps someone else... thank you for your message.  JimmyC

  • Reinstall Windows XP after replacing hard drive

I had to replace the hard drive on my Lenovo 3000 n200 laptop. The old drive was unusable and recover nothing from him. I have backups of all the files and folders to an external drive, but this does not have to reinstall XP Pro on the new hard drive. No CD of the operating system that is not supplied with the laptop. I'm trying to reinstall using the original disc I386 folder but WINNT32 ends without any indication of the reasons why after asking for a key product and running for a short period. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    oldrah

Has received recovery disks (2 discs) and ran the recovery process. Win XP installed and Setup took place, but lacked 9 pilots. A call to Lenovo support has led to a very nice lady to help me to track down and install the missing drivers. In order to facilitate its work, I enabled him to use a remote access facility to support my laptop and do what was necessary to install the drivers. Later, I've updated Windows for common maintenance and has started to re - install some software that had been on the laptop. Everything on the laptop is roughly back to where it was before the hard drive is dead, or better. Quite a learning experience.

  • Version Windows 7 Basic reinstall after replacing hard drive

I lost my restore CD and had to replace my hard drive. The system had a preinstalled version of Windows 7 Basic. The key does not exist in my laptop lenovo. Can you please let me know if the same key can be used if I download the software from the site of Ms.

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?

Make sure you scroll down and read the section:

What to do if you cannot get your manufacturer recovery media, refuse to use or to buy it or the Microsoft Software Recovery Website does not work?

  • Recovery disk failure after replacing hard drive of a laptop computer DV7 series

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-4270us with Windows 7 64 bit and recently received a message on start-up indicating that the intelligent of my hard drive failed. I bought a hybrid Momentus XT drive. I bought the recovery discs, since I neglected to follow my own advice and did not have a game. Replaced the hard drive, and begun the process of recovery, after the disc of the Application, the system was declared finished, clicks the button, the system shuts down. Activated power, recovery took over for a few minutes, declaring that he was copying files, a few minutes later, he said it was over asking me to click done. After that I did it, the system has rebooted hung on the screen of the HP logo with the statement in the lower left corner indicating "press ESC for the Start Menu. My only recourse was to power down the machine. When I restart the computer, I get the message 'Bootmgr' missing

I have already paid through the forums and tried to download the Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit DVD of digital life. As it starts installing, it indicates that a driver is missing, I poured by drivers for this computer and see nothing for SATA, and none of the others would be required to start. I succeeded in my Windows 7 Professional on the loading system, but since I don't have an extra code to hang out professional, it's not helping right now.

I also tried to partition the new disk manually using a device that allows me to see the drive using a USB port and my office, but he's not right. The good news is that the old drive still works to a point. I can read it via USB, and I can back up the drive, with the exception of the recovery partition. But when I put the new disk and set up similar scores for the original drive, it still does not start.

I have tried many other things all pronounce the failure, I'm not used to failure when it comes to computers, so be gentle.

    Hello:

The missing pilot is due either to a bad burn or use another brand of DVD. You must burn the ISO at the slowest speed possible file that you can.

In addition, check the size of the ISO file that you downloaded. Sometimes you do not get the full 3. XX GB even if the download says completed.

If you have 4 GB or more large USB flash drive, you can install W7 as it.

    Just follow these instructions...

Download the MS of W7 USB installation tool and read the instructions on the page to use.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/p bPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

You may also make this mod as I did if the flash tool-error.

Download the bootsect file form http://www.everettsporting.com/bootsect.zip

You will need to go into Control Panel, select display large icons, go to the icon of folder options, view tab, and select the hidden files and folders option.

Once downloaded, copy the BootSect.exe file in the same folder that contains the file of Windows7-USB-DVD-Download - Tool.exe installed. This file in Windows 7's default installation directory is C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Apps\Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool\

Run the application from the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool as described on the Microsoft Store website. The end result will give you a boot USB flash drive that contains everything you need to install the 64 bit version of Windows 7.
