HP 6730 s, short dst failed

Hello

I have a laptop HP 6730 s with windows 7 install. The last time, I have a few freezing problems. When I start the diagnostic tool, she came back with abstract DST failed, ID 60CC5K-GFX61B-XD6W3F-60RQ03.

How should I do?

Help, please

Thank you.

Hello

Failing drive short self-test would indicate that the hard disk is defective and must be replaced - it is also compatible with the issue of freezing you describe.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disc replaced.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know - include size (IE 500 Gb) of your existing HARD drive.

Kind regards

It certainly seems that your hard drive has failed.  I hope you made a backup of your personal data and you did the recovery disks.

Here's a guide for you help restore the system after replacing the drive.  Read it before buying the new drive.  It will help you to ensure that your experience is positive.  The guide is for Win 7.  If you have another OS, you can search for the same guide.  If you decide to add an SSD, it must be at least 120 GB.

  • P2-1334: Hard Disk short DST failed

My computer would not start: he would stay with the logo "hp" with a black screen. I ran a test start and while the check of processor, memory test and Smart hard drive tests all pass, the short DST hard drive failed. Failure ID is:

M0FX2C-0007LA-PXPB1F-60UC03 and the product ID is: H3Y74AA #ABA.  I need to replace the hard drive or that it takes to sweat then? The computer is out of warranty by about 1 1/2 years. I prefer to fix it myself.

Yes, say that the hard drive needs to be replaced. Here is the Service Manual:

    Your manual

It's a little hard to follow, but basically take off the side and the drive is there.

    Your listing

You have a 500 GB drive, but you can install any size. I suggest a 1 TB drive, like this:

  • Drive hard short DST failed with the ID 9U0K9R-66X77D-QFPK1G-60QL03 failure

My computer was working fine last night, then today everything worked slower and things started to freeze sometimes. I have inirialemenr thought it was just Google Chrome because it seemed well until that open, but then everything was slower, so I restarted the computer and ran the diagnosis of boot and the short DST hard drive failed to give me the ID of the failure of 9U0K9R-66X77D-QFPK1G-60QL03. Does that mean that my hard drive is failing and I need to replace?

Yes, DST failure message indicates hard drive has failed or is failing and must be replaced. If you are still in warranty HP will send a replacement. If this is not the case, a laptop SATA hard detail can be used. Just be sure to get a quality at least equal the original in order to use recovery disks. It may be big, but not small ability more. For example if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can use a 750 GB hard drive, but not a 320 GB hard drive.

  • HP dv3 "short DST: failed.

    Hello.

I have a laptop Pavilion dv3-4050ea, who died recently.

I tried to use the system restore function, but which fails to half way through.

One other poster here led me to press f2 at startup and run the startup test that ends with a short DST has no message.

This means that the HARD drive is dead?

I can replace it with any HARD drive? or should it be a drive HARD HP?

In the meantime, I ordered the HP restore disks, which I'm trying to install, but I'd be curious to know what is the meaning of the brief message failed DST.

Thanks in advance for your time.

CD HP restore does not, and I am now also failed to get on the same page of diagnosis as I got to the front by pressing F2. The page is now very simple text and although there are a few options to test, the test of memory runs, but HARD drive test won't. I also tried to run the test in the BIOS, but once again, the test just will not start. The test facility remains just att 0% complete until I restart the laptop.

This sounds just like a dead HARD drive?

Yes. It's a failing HARD drive.

is your laptop still under the one year free warranty?

If this is the case, you can contact HP for a replacement warranty covered drive.

If it is no longer under warranty, you can buy a replacement online from a seller of a store.

The replacement hard drive must have the same interface of connection and be at least the same capacity in gigabytes.

  • HP compaq 6730 b 0303 error code - short dst failed

During the installation of windows updates 04/16/10 my pc failed to boot. HP diagnostic shows 'RSM862-Gfx53A-XD6XHG-60TK03' and '041610-195742-041610 195517.  Everything I can find points to a BIOS problem, should I reset BIOS default security? It would help me at all? and what kind of info would be lost? I'll be very grateful for any help.       Thank you, schmashe

Your computer is still under warranty?  If so, I would definitely contact HP about this error, which is what HP recommends in their article in the knowledge base.  Reset the BIOS shouldn't cause any information on your machine to be lost, however, it is usually preferable to have the updated BIOS updated to the most recent available.

  • Laptop HP G62, freezing, "Short DST Fail"

    Hello

I have some major issues going on with my laptop.  I'm currently logged in Mode safe because whenever I'm in normal mode, now, the laptop charge apparently correctly, works of 3 1/2 minutes (Yes, I've timed it) and then freezes.  Any program that I use - or if I use a program at all-it freezes again.  I tried stopping at each startup program to load with the exception of the "pointing device", and he always did, so I eliminated the possibility that he is one of the startup programs causing accidents.

I then established fact, Start-Up and system development tests and all came back with the result of "DST short: failed" with the ID of the failure of 97KX30-54L5JU-XD003G-60VW03

I saw where someone else posted that they were getting a message 'Failure of the DST short' and it was recommended that they do a diagnosis on their hard drive, BIOS, so I just do that.  He gave me the opportunity to make the short test, and when he got to 50% (and 5 minutes from the end) it populated to a text box saying "Disk Hard 1 quick 303.

I'm hoping that someone with more experience and knowledge of computers can translate some of this for me and tell me if the short story is that my hard drive is fried and needs to be replaced.

    Hello

The result of fast hard drive 1 303 of the bios disk test hard means indeed your drive is failing and must be replaced.  If your computer is not under warranty, it is a relatively simple process to replace the drive yourself.  If you want an explanation of this, post back with the complete model number or your mobile PC REF and the size of the HARD drive that you have.

Make sure that you back up all your files etc as soon as possible.

    Kind regards

  • HP Pavilion: HP Pavillion - short DST failed

    Hello

A few nights ago my boyfriend started having problems when using his HP laptop. When he tries to turn it on, it says 'Prepare auto-start Recovery', and then the screen goes black after about 5 minutes. We got to start when, startup recovery where it says what percentage of it has been completed. It took a long time, we need to let it go for a while.  Then, when we came back to it, there was a black screen again. Now, he's just a screen black wiithout having spent "ASR start preparing."

We finally understood how to get to the UEFI diagnosis HP. The DST of short and long check all two failed with the following numbers:

    Failure ID: QAJPW1-6PN7H6-MFPWXG-60R803
    Product ID: E0J81UA #ABA

    Component test: failed

The laptop is only a year and a half, and he takes really good care of him. I do not understand why the hard drive Miss already, especialy because it has not abandoned at all.

I know that it has not changed everything in there at all.
    Of course, security is off.

He needs to buy a new hard drive, or we can do to try to save him?

It certainly takes a new hard drive. There is a good chance to move to an SSD.

    Model 17-e020us Pavilion.

See Page 49. Count your lucky cottages that the hard drive is easily accessible through a panel of service.

The original hard drive is a 750 GB 5400 RPM model should be replaced by at least one model of 7200 RPM like this:

  • Drive hard short DST failed the test at startup

I use a Compaq Notebook PC CQ58 and were not able to boot from the tenth day of may I'm in Windows 8.
I tried to understand what was wrong and used F2 for boot test. My "short hard drive DST' has no amd I don't know how to solve this problem, can someone

    Hi Hank,

F2 to start test is a feature on HP computers to check if there are problems with the hardware components of the computer. DST short for hard disk error means that there is a problem with the hard drive and must be replaced.

If the computer is under warranty, you can contact HP Support and get this replaced and if the computer is not under warranty, you can buy a new hard drive for this computer and get this fixed number.

If you need additional information, you can come back.
