  After my last post, I looked back to the system restore and found more old restore points.  I didn't know that only the most recent have been posted.  Until after the Restore, the keyboard and mouse seem to work very well.

  I also uninstalled McAfee and installed a new version, if it had an impact that I don't know.  I have however noticed that the mail program works substantially faster than before, so there is certainly a difference.

  In any case, I hope that the problem is solved.  I think that your idea of uninstallng the two devices sounds good so I'll keep in mind.  In the meantime thank you for your interest and your help.

• Vista Ultimate 64: directory winsxs and growth: more than 16 GB now! Help!

  I use this new platform to address my major problem that I have with my installation of SP1 for Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit : the size of the "winsxs" - folder (C:\Windows\winsxs).
  I installed my Vista on April 4, 2008, so old now is about 9 months. I have always keep my system up-to-date with Microsoft Update and use any of these 3rd - party-'clean-up-tools', just to avoud questions in this sense in advance.

  The problem is: the size of my "winsxs" - file ist 16 GB now, and even more to the day the day! At the moment, it is more than half of my total space used on my C: partition!
  My C: partition is about 50 GB in total, so with a continued growth of "winsxs" as he has done so far free space on C: will be exhausted by April 2009!
  What should I do next? Do a clean reinstall after format C:? I highly doubt that! There MUST be a way to get rid of winsxs-useless stuff!

  How can I clean winsxs? How can I avoid more and more until my C partition any is blighted by winsxs?
