HP C7000 GbE2c to Procurve networking woes

Having a few network issues and I would appreciate another set of eyes or the opinion of someone who's struggled with this before. I could not find a guide of best practices using these switches (BNT) HP GbE2c with VMware anywhere, so if there is an and that someone could point me in the direction that would be excellent.

Currently have a HP C7000 chassis with 5-6 blades all current vSphere to run. C7000 is filled with switches GbE2c in bays 1-2, 5-6, 7 and 8. These switches are each uplink in a Procurve 5308 via a single connection to port 21 on each.

If the natachasery is organized into vSwitches for redundancy so that they do not share the same integrated circuit or mezzanine as much as possible (each blade has a 4 Port GbE NIC in Mezz. 2) the natachasery map to ports on GbE2c switches that can share that interconnect trunk ports on 17 and 18. In other words vSwitch0 contains vmNIC0 and vmNIC2 where vmNIC0 corresponds to switch Bay 1 and vmNIC2 corresponds to the switch in Bay 5.

Each vSwitch can be set to active/active or active / standby for the collection of NETWORK adapters and must perform the correct switch configuration?

If this is the case, the following text makes sense?

Each vSwitch has two vmnic value active / active/active, if she's not serious (or standby).

Each vmNIC in each vSwitch maps to a switch that is not in one Bay adjacent to another, then the trunk AND 17 and 18 ports on the GbE2c must be disabled (no interconnection between GbE2c switches).

Each rising GbE2c to 5308 Procurve and since of the GbE2c have their interconnections to the disabled, there should be no need of junction on the 5308 ports when the uplink of the GbE2c, corrected?

If that is setup, and each NIC team vSwitch is set on road based on IP Hash and trouble-shooting on the status of the link the vmnic should switch in the event of a failure of GbE2c or the failure of the uplink. Is this correct?

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to look through it.

1. network cards can be active/active, and this is how I would create them.  Since there is no channel of port involved, each VM will be able to access a teddy bear at a time and the other can still be used for failover, but still actively allows two network cards.

2. this hypothesis seems correct, as long as you use the half height blades, otherwise you will need to vmnic0 and vmnic4 for servers blade full height satisfy your mezzanine and mappings on the team.

3. you should have a trunk between the 5308, at this level, or more in the string, if the 5308 connect Layer2 to a set of basic switches.  Otherwise, you could find yourself in a scenario where a virtual machine is unable to talk to each other if they eventually go out a certain set of physical interfaces.  STP should take care to disable the paths as requires it, but you should consider loop avoidance to the vSwitch so level mechanisms.

  • vCAC 6.0 - network woes, "transport area.

    Hello

I have a new deployment of vCAC 6.0.  I have no experience with earlier versions.  We were previously Mid-deployments of a vCD environment, but then the announcement came out all splitting the IAAS providers vs private cloud application of each product.  We opted to move to vCAC since we were not fully engaged in vCD.

We have worked successfully in the environment and have imported several VMS in vCenter.  However, I have some difficulty to obtain several computers plans in place with any form of networking.  Whenever I try, vCAC calls for a Transport area.  My Googlings, it seems the Transport areas are a characteristic of the NSX.  However, to read the vCAC documentation, I can apparently do the same thing with vCloud network and security.  I installed and implemented version 5.5 of vCloud network and security, but still without areas of transport!

Can anyone help?  Thanks in advance!

    -Jesse Reinhart

Well, I think that I fixed my own problem.  Expanded in POSSIBLE transport vCAC translates network zones.  My problem is that once I had set up POSSIBLE correctly, I does not kick off a collection of data from vCAC to collect new items of inventory.  The default is every 24 hours.  After you run manually the data collection, the scope of network I created in POSSIBLE appeared in vCAC as a transport area.

    Now to the configuration/troubleshooting!

  • Networking woes

I just changed my ISP from comcast, but now I can't see my computers in the workgroup of 2 of my 3 computers in the workgroup. Internet access is very good and networks on the Macintosh side perfectly, but I can not access a database on my main computer. I tried to remap the network drive, but I can't get through. Any ideas?

  • 5.1 network throughput problems c7000 and vSphere

Hello, I'm new to the forum and I want to say hello to everyone!

Here is the main reason why I joined the forum:

I have a weird problem with my HP C7000 enclosure and VMware vSphere 5.1

I used a standard vSwitch to connect virtual machines and associate them with a vmnic for my traffic from public network segment. With this configuration, I found that when I tried the command SCP to copy some files from VM1 VM2 to, there where good productivity, just as planned, but when I tried to copy to VM1 VM2, it just drag at a ridiculous speed, like 16 Kbps up to it just hold. I could repeat the same behavior whenever I try. So I just tried using the vswitch distributed, and the behavior has changed. Now traffic of the CPS goes as it should be between virtual machines, but the problems of flow between a virtual machine and a physical host like this: when I copy from the physical host to virtual machine, flow is as it should be, but when I try to copy the VM on the physical host, yet once it stalls.

Please can someone give me some clues?

Here's another thing, I have a blade with vCenter in 2012 Windows installed it works as it should with external hosts.

I used vSphere in other environments and never had something like this behaviour before.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I found the problem, the switch was defective. Just changed to an e3800 HP switch and all together.

  • Network of twinning with Port trunks to support the host ESX VShere 4 with several NIC for load balancing across a HP ProCurve 2810 - 24 G

We are trying to increase production of our ESX host.

    ESX4 with 6 NIC connected to HP Procurve 2810 - 24G 2 ports; 4; 6; 8; 10 and 12.

    The

grouping of parameters on ESX is rather easy to activate, however, we do not know

How to configure the HP switch to support above connections.

    Pourrait

someone please help with a few examples on how to seup the HP switch.

Help will be greatly appreciated as we continue to lose tru RDP sessions

    disconnects.

    Best regards, Hendrik

Disabling protocols spanning-tree on the Procurve ports connected to the ESX host is going to promote a recovery more rapid port. Similarly, running global spanning tree is not recommended if you mix some VLAN iSCSI and data in the same fabric (i.. e. you do not want a STP process to hang storage IO). Spanning tree on your switches, look PVST (or Procurve BPMH) to isolate the STP VLANs unique events.

In regard to the load balancing is, by default (route based port ID) value algorithm requires less overhead on the ESX hosts.  You may not use LACP on the Provurve the lack of facilities LACP ESX. You must use "route based on the IP hash" sideways ESX and 'static trunks' on the side of Procurve. Unless you have specific reasons why your network need loads this configuration, I'd caution against it for the following reasons:

    (1) IP hash requires thorough inspection of packages by the ESX host, increasing CPU load as load package increases;

    (2) the static configuration puts switch physics rigid and critical ESX host port mapping. Similarly, groups of ports all will fail as the Procurve batteries for management only and won't be on switches 802.3ad circuits Group (i.e. all ports of a group of circuits must be linked to a single switch) - this isn't a limitation of the port ID routing;

    (3) K.I.S.S. love port ID mix of port ID, beacon probe and failover on the port assignments you will get segregation of the raw traffic without sacrificing redundancy - even through switches.

    I hope this helps!

First of all, there is overlap crypto ACL with the VPN static L2L:

crypto ASA1MAP 10 card matches the address 101

    access-list 101 extended allow ip 10.10.10.0 255.255.255.0 172.18.0.32 255.255.255.240

I would remove the 2 lines of ACL 101 above because it is incorrect.

Secondly, from the output of ' cry ipsec to show his ", you seem to be getting the ip address of the"jdv1.australis.net.au", not"CorpVPN"pool pool. Therefore, the No. NAT ACL on the management interface is incorrect. I would just add a greater variety of education no. NAT so that it covers all your ip pool:

    access-list no.-NAT-DU-MGMT scope ip 10.10.10.0 allow 255.255.255.0 172.18.0.0 255.255.255.0

Thirdly, even with your dynamic ACL 'OUTSIDE_cryptomap_65535.65535' crypto map, it only covers the 172.18.0.32/28, so I just want to add a wider range since it seems you get the ip address of the different pool:

OUTSIDE_cryptomap_65535.65535 list of allowed ip extended access all 172.18.0.0 255.255.255.0

Then I would disable the following group of access for purposes of test first:

no access-group MANAGEMENT - OUT Interface MANAGEMENT

Finally, please clear all the SA on your ASA and xlate, then reconnect to your vpn client and test it again:

    delete the ipsec cry his

    clear the isa cry his

    clear xlate

Please let us know how it goes after the changes. If it still doesn't work, please please send again the last configuration and also to send the output of the following:

    See the isa scream his

    See the ipsec scream his

and a screenshot of the page of statistics on your vpn client. Thank you.

  • Cannot access ESXi server via network

    Hello world!

We have a HP C7000 Encolosure with 4 BL460c Gen 8 blades in front size of it. Back size of the C7000, we have 2 SAN Switch, 2 switch HP BLc GbE2c layer 2/3 and 2 Onboard Administrator Module.

Everything is working fine with IP addresses like this:

    OA active:

    IP address: 172.16.0.253

    STANBY OA:

    IP address: 172.16.0.254

    Server Blade BL460c Bay 1:

The IP address of the ILO: 172.16.0.10

    Server Blade BL460c Bay 2:

    The ILO IP address: 172.16.0.11

    BL460c blade Bay 9:

    The ILO IP address: 172.16.0.19

    Server Blade BL460c Bay 10:

    The ILO IP address: 172.16.0.20

We can ping pc that connected to the port of ILO on Onboard Administrator (OA) IP addresses above. (I can it call PC MANAGE?)

Continue, we access OA via Web https://172.16.0.253 use of , then Console integrated to control 4 Server blades. We have mounted image ESXi 5.1 U1 and successfully installed on 4 servers blade.

We manually config IP address on each ESXi Server (like this):

BL460c Server Blade on Bay 1 as server ESXi 1:

    IP address: 10.0.0.11

BL460c Server Blade on Bay 2 as server ESXi 2:

    IP address: 10.0.0.12

BL460c Server Blade on Bay 9 as a server ESXi 9:

    IP address: 10.0.0.19

BL460c Server Blade on 10 Bay as a server ESXi 10:

    IP address: 10.0.0.20

Now we can ping server to another server ESXi ESXi 1. I mean 4 Blade Server can ping together.

    BUT:

-We can not ping servers to blade PC of manage (that PC connect to the port of ILO on OSTEOARTHRITIS. In this scene, MANAGE PCs has the IP 172.16.0.100/16)

-We unplug the network cable from the port of iLO, then connect it to the port number 24 on HP BLc GbE2c LY 2/3 switch, then address IP of the PC to MANAGE the 10.0.0.100/24 value. Always the same, can only access servers

Can someone explain to me how to access this server (ping, http, etc...). Do we have to config switch HP BLc GbE2c LY 2/3? We read many many guide on the HP website, but they have not mentioned about routing or switch to configure

    Thanks in advance!

    It's my mistake!

My servers have 2 connections FlexLOM. That a connection has been enabled for 'network management' in ESXi. I do not understand, then I activated 2 connections. That cause outside the network can not access them.

I just disabled a single connection and everything works perfectly.

    I thank everyone!

  • 1 St gen AX and connect to the new network Netgear M/R...

Updated my cable modem/router to a Netgear C7000 and can't get my 1 St gen airport to reconnect to my network - Express use only in client mode to stream iTunes to amplified speakers. Have you tried all the typical solutions, but wonder if the problem may be with the security settings. The 1st gen AX supports WPA2-PSK security?

    Yes, he does.

However, users often get confused about what could be a 1st Gen AirPort Express.  Please check to locate the model number of the Express... it's on the side of the unit... hard to see... so you need good lighting and reading glasses.  The model number starts with an 'A' follow-up of four digits.

A 1st Gen AirPort Express is A1264 model number.  The 1st Gen means that it was the first Express to use 802.11 "n" wireless.

If you see A1084 or A1088, it is wireless a lot more old "b/g" which has been sold long before that Apple has started using the generation of naming when 802.11n model was introduced in 2008.

If that's what you have, then you will probably need to use WPA - PSK - TKIP security settings.

  • Apple TV cannot connect to Modem/Router C7000

    Hello

I'm completely stumped on this, this is no logic.

I upgraded a Netgear WNDR4300 wireless router to the modem/router combination C7000. The old router never caused any problems with the connection of wireless devices, but this new C7000 is frankly a pain!

I agree with Apple TV network and the password is accepted, but no matter what I do the router never sees the Apple TV as a connected wireless device!

Yet once, it worked flawlessly on the old Netgear router.

The other two devices wireless I have connected the two had WPS (a printer and a device), but the Apple TV does not support this so I get the password manually but it simply refuses to work!

I was wasting hours on this today.

I'm a software engineer so I understand this and frankly there is no earthly reason, I can see why he just refuses to work.

Y at - it a bug with this modem/router C7000 that will not work properly if you cannot connect using WPS?

And what is the problem of not having a FW upgrade option in this device?

This FW version: V1.01.20. Is this the last?

    Help, please.

    Thank you

    Allen

Well, now I feel like a fool. I unplugged the old router and thought that I had turned it off, then I drop it on the floor and began setting up the new router. I wanted to keep the same network name so I changed it and set the password accordingly.

It's when I couldn't connect the Apple TV. And after all that, I look down the OLD router and to somehow do NOT turn it off as I thought I did.

If the network name being the same, my Apple TV connected to the OLD router instead of the new.

    Argh, what a rookie mistake!

    Everything is OK now.

    Sorry everyone,

    Allen

  • The C7000 can be mounted?

    Hello
The C7000 can be mounted? It has holes for screws so it can be attached inside a box of network on the wall?

I will no doubt tell you don't want not to mount the C7000. In the design phase of the product it goes up once had of the mounting holes on the case, but the material inside is running too hot for the unit safely. He needs ventilation all around him. If you were to ride with one hand against a wall air cannot circulate properly. If you mount your C7000 somehow, I can guarantee you basically you overheat it and have a hardware failure and may even cause a fire.

  • HP Procurve vlan voice with trunks

    Hi all

I am a trained guy cisco, so I try to transfer my knowledge to the HP Procurve switches but it takes a little help to obtain VLAN etc set up.

What I have is 4 switches, 3 at the access layer to the and 1 to the base and distribution.

I want that switches to a trunk of the base and distribution layer 2 interfaces access layer allows to increase the speed of 2 instead of 1 gigabit uplink. Also, I want is that 2 VLANS is set up for separate voice and data. I want that all ports to be able to take in charge a PC or a VOIP phone. I put the phones to automatically tag the tag of vlan for the vlan voice, but I want all traffic to forward the link to resources shared at the base and distribution layer.

From what I understand, so I need to:

Configure a network interface on the access and use of basic/distribution layer switches: b1 - b2 trk1 lacp trunk

Add VLAN for voice and data and assign vlan voice.

The problem I have is the tag-no identified parameters.

I tag vlan trk1 voice and set the priority of the qos to 6 and then comes to create the vlan data not marked on trk1?

the config I've written so far is:

    b1 - b2 trk1 lacp trunk
    show trunks
    spanning tree
spanning tree force version rstp operation
    voice VLAN 100 name
    voice
    Tagged trk1
    QoS priority 6
    data name VLAN 200
    not tagged trk1

is this correct or am I missing something here?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello!

We mixed network environment with cisco / HP hardware.

We are currently assessing the Cisco ACS 4.2 to manage network access network equipment.

Cisco equipment works very well, but we have problems the RADIUS and procurve switches (Ganymede works very well)

I googled around and it seems that you need to create a new '(VSA, Vendor) vendor-specific attributes' for procurve switches and the IETF radius settings according to the variables on the right which must match the HP equipment.

Problem is that I can't find this information online.

Anyone who manages to solve this problem?

    Would really appreciate help!

Generally, you should download VSA for acs. You must get the HP ini file. Once you have you need create a vsa and transfer it to acs.

Create a file 'accountActions.csv' using the format specified in "RDBMS synchronization."

Import definition', once we are ready with the file, then we must do an RDBMS

Synchorization folder of ACS (SE) and then go on:

Reports and activity > RDBMS synchronization and make sure that the synchronization has been

done it without error. Once this is done, you must re - start the ACS SE, then

We can create a new AAA client and use the new RADIUS (xxxx), and the attributes that we

added can be made visible for:

The interface configuration > and select the newly added Radius VSA attribute.

  • Switch proCurve 2626 (J4900B) - supported VLAN?

    Hello!

I tried to Setup VLAN because I really need this feature, but I encountered a problem.

    My current setup:

I had 2 switches that are connected via an optical cable.

My question is how to install ports than Let's say 10 to 15 are on the same thing but separated on the two switches network?

So that DHCP which is on 10-15 does not give the addresses to other ports?

and devices on 10-15 on one and 10 to 15 other Switch are the?
