  Each battery has a label with the information about it. Please check:

  b physically mount, make sure that it will not cause damage to the connectors,

  (b) voltage: must be the same or not more than 5% of both sides.

  For power, normally a battery 8 cells is greater than a 6 cell battery and it's ok.

  I finally found where the CMOS battery on my laptop Presario 2701.  I tired going road to tech support but I was told that my laptop was out of warranty so that they could not help.  Then I noticed that you can send the President of HP if you have a problem, so I did it, said my question and the next day I received a call for technical support and I was told the battery was under the rear cover of the laptop.  So after unscrewing which seemed to be a dozen screws on the bottom of the laptop I tried to remove the cover, but there do not seem to come off.  I then handed the laptop and pried off the keyboard, carefully removed the keyboard Ribbon that has two small tabs on each side that you just have to push back on.  Then you will see a square on the left side cover, remove the four screws, remove the cover and there is your CMOS battery in the upper right corner.  It is a flat regular silver oxide, number 2032 battery.  Replace the battery and put that together and it started right.  Changed the date and time and the computer is running back to normal.

  (1) have you calibrated your battery ever?  It was a must do from the beginning

  (2) using performance mode for a regime of power options?  Balanced is optimal and better for the longevity of the battery

  (3) don't you let your laptop connected to the power adapter, when it is not in use? When the load is low, plug, load it, and unplug it.

  If you do one or a combination of what I asked you, you have, perhaps inadvertently, shortened the life of your laptop battery.

  Most who do this just don't realize there are ways to treat a laptop battery, if you want to have the optimal way to battery life and ease of use.

  The situation you describe can usually be fixed by doing a power Cycle on the laptop.

  Perform the following steps.

  a. shut down the computer.

  b. unplug everything from the computer. This includes the AC adapter / CC, Modems and routers and external devices, such as printers, disks, USB devices, etc. Nothing should be left plugged into the computer.

  c. remove the battery.

  d. wait 30 seconds. Press and hold the power button on the laptop for 15 seconds. This evacuates any excess electric energy out of the laptop.

  e. all reconnect on the computer, including the power adapter and the battery.

  Start the computer and check the results to see if the problem is resolved.

  Let us know the results.

I installed OS XP Home version Pro Version and now I't does not recognize my modem or ethernet. Cannot get online.   You're right; There are a large number of items on this page.  You may be able to refine things if you enter your full product number, but if not, here are some general indications:

  • Start by "Driver - Chipset" and use "9.1.0.1007 a (January 16, 2009).»
