HP compaq CQ57: 4 GB ram installed 1.6 usable

I recently pulled out my old laptop to use it, and I noticed that it was running extremely slowly so I reinstalled windows and upgrade the ram to 4 GB to 2 GB, but now it is said that only 1.6 GB can be used. so I put the old RAM in and now it says that only 747 MB is usable. I tried a lot of difficulties assumed such as change the ram to different locations, bios update, affecting more memory in msconfig, reset the bios, and nothing has worked. I can barely use my laptop because of how slow his race. Anyone got any ideas?

OK I fixed it. I disassembled my laptop and it cleaned, he had a wall of dust that was put in place around the fan.  and caused my cpu overheating, which was probably the main caus poor performance. now, my laptop use all 4 GB of ram and works well. hope it helps someone out there

    Hello

    Try the following.

First, download the Flash uninstall utility on the link below and save it to your desktop.

    Flash Player Uninstaller.

Once the download is complete, close all browser windows and start the program uninstaller.  Once done, restart the laptop.

Then, unless you already have it, download and install Firefox , then using Firefox, download and install the latest version of Adobe Flash. Note: You can deselect the option to include McAfee Security Scan Plus before download.

Close all browser windows before you run the installer of Flash.

Start Firefox and see if Youtube videos play Ok in this browser - if they do, close Firefox, open Internet Explorer and click on the same link Adobe Flash above to get a command prompt to install the ActiveX component.  Once completed, restart Internet Explorer.

The RAM is so cheap, that I had also NOT hundreds and hundreds of £££ buy RAM "official." Also once I have the RAM installed could I spend XP to Win7 or NOT?

    Hi Ryan,

Contact Crucial and Crucial official recommendation.  If you buy directly from Crucial, then they will stand behind their products.

Your first consideration should be Support HP or HP sales during the consideration of upgrades or replacement of memory. If you want to consider other manufacturers of the best way to avoid memory problems is to contact one of the leading manufacturers of memory. I would recommend that you try the tools of these manufacturers: Corsair, Kingston andCrucial. Once you have determined the DIMMs that you need, then contact commercial or technical support to check that you have selected the correct DIMMS. If you buy directly from manufacturers, then they will stand behind their products.

  • Re: Satellite Pro L300D - 11O 800 MHz RAM installed, only to 667 MHz

I recently bought a Satellite Pro L300D-11O, which has a single stick of 1 GB 800 MHz RAM installed. However this RAM work only at 667 MHz. I checked this in Linux and Windows Vista.

The laptop is announced as to have 800 MHz RAM on this page:

    http://UK.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/JSP/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&BV_UseBVCook ie = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 1055796

The manual of the user who wrote:

"PC2-6400 memory module works as PC2-5300 speed the GL40 Express Chipset Express chipset/GL965"

I don't know what chipset I have, and it would be surprised that this would be the case that the above Web site explicitly states RAM 800 MHz.

    Can someone tell me please?

    Hello!

Now I'm a bit confused of Mr. I think you did search in the wrong user's manual because the Satellite L300D has no Intel chipset.
On the Toshiba site, you can download the manual for Satellite L300D:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online downloads support & -online download user manual

I think that your chipset only supports 667 MHz. normally the RAM always works on the highest speed that is supported by the chipset.
Check the specifications with Everest or PC Wizard 2008.

First of all, I ran the HP Support Assistant to facilitate updates of HP.

I see your screenshot you have 8 GB of ram installed and it is recognized but only 3.49 is usable. It might be book a piece of video memory, but it usually isn't that much.

It is possible that you have a bad RAM.  If you test each individually both work?

Have you tried swapping ram slots?

You can also try this step.

Go to the admin. Tools-> System Configuration-> / Boot-> Adv. Boot Options and set memory Maximum 8192 instead of unselected.

  • 64-bit with 4 GB of RAM installed; system does not boot

I bought and installed W7 64 bit so that I could use the full 4 G of RAM installed in the machine.  Clean install after format but W7 would not move past the "Starting Windows" screen

Microsoft is absolutely useless as Acer support.  Very disappointed in both.

So I started by disconnecting equipment: card reader.  Try again.  Nope.  2nd screen.  Nope.  Remove the piece of 1 G of RAM.  There she goes. Now, I have everything set up and a few days later reinstall the 4 G of RAM.  Still, no way in front of the window startup.  Try changing on the sticks.  No go.

So while Vista would go with the 4G installed, it wouldn't use it, W7 will not work with it.  Max 3G.  What gives?

I think it must be in the BIOS, but what?  I also read that the removal of the video card and reinstall that after install the last piece of RAM will work, but I'm pretty skeptical.

  • Windows poster 8 gigs Ram installed (2.65 available)

Windows poster 8 gigs Ram installed (2.65 available)

How can I get windows to display 8 GB available?

OK first off you run 32-bit software and 64-bit if your running an operating system 32 bit Windows entirely will not use more then 4 GB of RAM and it will use the rest for your videosubsystems or disk cache memory.

So the windows to display all of the eight gigabytes of memory to live, it must be a 64-bit operating system.
You can see which version of Windows your race in the screen of the system in Control Panel.
  • How can I increase the allocation of RAM installed to a specific program installed?

    / * moved from responses Feedbcak * /.

I have a 6 core Intel CPU with 12 GB of RAM installed in a 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate OS. The installed chess program I use is allocated only about 3.5 GB of RAM. My computer is almost entirely used for chess and I need to increase the amount of RAM installed
granted this chess program. How can I do this? I would be grateful for help if anyone can help me.

Your mention of "only being allocated about 3.5 GB of RAM" leads me to believe that your chess program is 32-bit and the allocation of memory ~3.5Gb is a functional limitation of 32-bit architecture.

Is a 64 bit version of the program available? The software has its own support forum area where this limitation was discussed and possibly resolved?

  • I have 32 GB of RAM installed and win7 uses only 16 GB of it. Why?

I have 32 GB of RAM installed and win7 uses only 16 GB of it. Why? Thank you in advance.

Because you're using Home Premium 64-bit?
You need 'Pro', 'Enterprise' or 'Ultimate' 64-bit running 32GB or more RAM.

EDIT: Home Premium is limited to 16 GB of RAM.

  • M6600 won't post, giving no ram installed error message when I have good memory installed and tried 8 different sticks, even changed the mobo

As the title says I have problems with my computer laptop m6600 in me not saying there is no ram installed similarly when he y a. I even compatible ram bought new from dell in it with no message. I replaced the motherboard as well and I get the same question. Cat useless customer service from Dell has lost about 15 hours of my time without answering a single question. I just transferred until they tell me that they cannot help but due to the release of service guarantee still stupid dell site tells me that I am eligible for the cat after my service tag in. Dell has proved to be the worst customer service ever as everyone on the internet said. That gives a * if my warranty is out, I just need my answered queswtion so I can fix this piece of theNOTE from the ADMIN: profanity removed according to the TOU > myself. You sell an inferior product that usually always stop after that guarantee goes out and then hiring non-English speaking d bags do not help your loyal customers? I was buy alienware for years and I still owe the turds staring because dell is too incompetent to build things that do not break nor do they resolve problems when items are under warranty. That being said, someone tell me why my m6600 always tells me that I have no ram and fails to post even after using the right voltage and speed of ram from dell's and I changed the mobo out and the problem persists. According to dell if it was my card gfx or cpu causing no post then the error code would be different

After replacing the motherboard twice and then finally replacing the cpu, it starts, and is alive again. Therefore the CPU all the time despite the silent diagnostic lights dells telling me the opposite. Lesson of the day, do not buy dell and do not trust their diag lights to tell you what the problem is.

    Hello world

    I have a Compaq Presario CQ57-104TU. I recently decided to upgrade the ram (currently 1 x 2 GB Elpida PC3 - 10600 1333 Mhz). I bought 2 x 4 Gb Hynix HMT451S6AFR8A, PC3L-12800. Unfortunitely when I install the new Ram (Hynix)

the computer does not start. Is there something I can do or the Ram is not compatible?

    Any help would be appreciated,

    André

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

See p.2. Specified memory is DDR3-1333 1.5 volt and you try to install low-voltage DDR3-1600. In addition, memory that you are trying to install is high density, because it has 4 blocks on each side, where I am betting that original memory was of low density (8 blocks). Long story short, it is not compatible. It do you no good to install DDR3-1600 by the way. Best of cases, it will anyway be downclock speed 1333.
