  • Pavilion DV6-2155DX: processor i5 - 580 M of Pavillion DV6 - 2155DX support?

I would like to confirm if it is possible to upgrade the processor in DV6-2155dx to a core i5 - 580 M from the i3 - 330 M stock.  I read a post that claimed that the i5 - 580 M (with the I7 - 620 M & I7-640 M) was consistent, but the latest version of BIOS (copied below) notes indicate support was added "for the Intel I3 - 350, I5-520, I5-540, I7-620 K - O Stepping processors.  From what I can understand other references online, the i5 - 580 M is a K-0 Stepping processor, but does not appear explicitly as being supported by the BIOS updated.

Could someone confirm if the DV6-2155DX with the latest BIOS could support the upgrade of the i5 - 580 M processor?

    Thank you!

UMA = integrated so that you have UMA.

There is no source information on upgrades processor as the maintenance manual. HP does not support or encourage the laptop processor upgrades after the point of sale for reasons that should be obvious. They would sell you rather a new laptop and there is no increase for HP in your opening of the casing of the laptop.

An image of your motherboard, I can see that the processor is not welded on. Logically, there is no reason that a CPU that runs on a version of the same motherboard with the dedicated video would work also on them with onboard video. It is not always logical, however. I also see that your motherboard is not in the manual I posted. I made some of these updates and some like to think that I got a seat of the pants for her feeling and I'm going to go out on a limb and say the i5 - 580 M will probably work. No guarantees, but I'm confident about 80 percent.

Indeed if you put your motherboard part in Partsurfer number, it lists all of the models in that it has been used and I see that it can actually accept an i7-720QM and I found one where he was running an i5 - 430 M.

    Models using your motherboard

I was not going through each and every one, but if I could find one with the i5 - 580 M my confidence would go up to 100%.

  • Pavilion dv6 - 1350us: dv6 1350us 240 GB SSD not recognized by BIOS ver F.41

    Hi all

I want to replace the stock 340 GB hard drive SATA with a 240GB SSD but the BIOS does not detect the SSD drive. Here are the specs:

HP Pavilion Entertainment Notebook - dv6-1350us (Intel - Core 2 Duo)

    BIOS - Hewlett-Packard F.41, 12/11/2009

    SSD - Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240GB Model # MKNSSDCR240GB-DX

This laptop is currently in operation with no problems. It has been upgraded to Windows Pro 10 and all the latest updates installed - it's just very slooowly. The SSD, I try to use is checked 100% working. It detects and is accessible by other computers and works very well in a USB/SATA attached to this laptop docking bay. The SSD has been deleted, including the protected EFI & system partitions - IOW, it's completely empty - without walls.

I am capable of (old) drive image hard work and save it on an external USB drive. The image size is 110 GB and includes data, system and recovery partitions, so it fits on the SSD. When I install the SSD in the laptop there is no option to boot from it so I guess that it is not properly detected in the BIOS. Nevertheless, with the SSD installed, I can boot from a Windows 10 'repair DVD' and get to the point where he's ready to recreate the image. However, since the SSD is not detected in the BIOS, it just gives me an error and dumps me.

I want to update the BIOS to see if it helps but I can't launch the HP flash/upgrade BIOS updated SoftPaq (sp54629.exe) on Windows 10. I get a UAC error that says: this app has been blocked for your protection. An administrator has blocked the delivery of this application...... sp54629.exe... Publisher: Not approved

My question: if I restore the old o/s Win7 (original) of the partition recovery and then run the update of the BIOS SoftPaq under Win7, it will allow the BIOS to see the SSD? I don't want to waste hours until I can be fairly certain that the problem will be solved by upgrading the BIOS.

    Thank you in advance!

Update: still no solution to this problem of HP. 5 hours wasted. Had to install temproarily old hard drive from the laptop in order to reinstall Win7, as well as all the crapware HP forces on us all, the recovery of the DVD because Firmware HP update software does not work with Win10 - THANKS HP! Anyway, it did not help the problem at all. In addition, I tried a SSD of SATA-III (Samsung) different with the same results. HP has to pay a bunch of 12 years to write BIOS of their laptops. Well, time to throw this laptop HP in the landfill. HP - never.

  • DV6-6b19ev upgrade to SSD

Hello. I own a dv6-6b19ev. I have a year and a half and im more then happy with my laptop. Its just great.

The last days im thinking to replace the 1 TB of HARD drive (5400rpms) to a 1 TB SSD (Samsung 1 TB SSD 840 Evo Series 2.5 SATA III)

The SSDS works or not? In the manual, I have seen that it can support only 160 GB SSD up to, but I don't know if the new firmware can support larger SSD.

    Any help will be appreciated.

It is not as simple by reversing the legacy HDD and an SSD. If you are familiar with using the diskpart utility to prepare the SSD and have your HP usb media recovery key, then you can do it.

  • HP Pavilion DV6-6B13SS supports SATA 3 connection?

Hello. I want to change my real disk (SATA 2) for one SSD (SATA 3), but I don't know if my laptop (Pavilion DV6-6b13ss) fully supports SATA 3 connections.

I read the manual and it speaks only of the SATA 2 (3 Gbps) connections, but I think he is referring to the factory hard drive, because the chipset (Mobile Intel® HM65 Express) will support the SATA 3 connections.

I did a few test and it says I have a maximun of 6 Gbps bandwich, so I think that the connection supports SATA 3, but I'm not sure.

Thanks for any help or comments.

    Hello

I can see the image now (approved). Yes, very safe to use SATA III SSD/HDD.

    All the best.

  • HP pavilion dv6-6198sp: using the right charger for hp dv6? 90 or 120 w? Which one? Help!

Hi guys, currently im using a charger for my hp dv6-6153sa, but I need to cut this short story, so you'll understand.

First, I changed the motherboard in this laptop, the motherboard is the HP pavilion dv6-6198sp however, the battery is a HP dv6-6b60sa.

    The charger I use is a HP dv6-6153sa, which is a 90w charger. 19V 4. 74A

So am I right in thinking I would be better off using a 120 Watt charger?

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you

The specifications I've seen shows that a 120 Watt power adapter is required for both. So yes, you must use a power adapter 120 Watt.
