    Hello everyone.

    A recent update (I was unable to update) for our network caused all computers running Windows XP (Professional) or Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard to prompt the user to insert the Windows XP pro CD or CD Server 2003 to install dosapp.fon. The normal course of action is to insert the CD and do with it. Unfortunately it does not solve the problem. After a few fights with him, I went as far to change the directory in which windows search by default. (as shown here, the context of the correction is different, but the idea is the same) and place the police file required in the C:\windows\i386 folder. Now the message always, but simply by pressing 'OK' will work. It's keep popping up the guests and reappear whenever a user logs out.

    Hi studentech,

    • You run the computer in a domain environment?

    Method 1

    I suggest that you run the SFC scan on Windows XP-based computers which will search the system files corrupted on the computer and replace them.

    The analysis may take some time, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows XP installation CD.

    Method 2

    If the previous step fails then I suggest that you perform the upgrade installation on place of Windows XP on the computer.

    An upgrade on the spot is also called a repair installation. This operation reinstalls Windows XP to the same folder on your computer where it was originally installed. You can run an upgrade on the spot if your installation of Windows XP must be repaired

  • This information means that my computer contains files of piracy, or it can be hacked by someone?

    System.ini

    When I wrote this (system.ini) order in the menu tab start, I had a Notepad with the following window:

    [386Enh]
    woafont = dosapp.fon
    EGA80WOA. FON = EGA80WOA. FON

    CGA40WOA. FON = CGA40WOA. FON

    [drivers]
    Wave = mmdrv.dll
    Timer = Timer.drv

    [mci]

    My question is: this information means that my computer contains files of piracy, or it can be hacked by someone? And if the answer is YES, please tell me what I can do to deal with this problem?

    Thank you very much

    I think it means that your search has shown you the content of the "C:\Windows\system.ini.  This file has been used at the time when Windows ran on top of MS-DOS and listed the drivers that were to be installed at the time of start-up.  In current versions of Windows, it controls the environment driver for legacy 16-bit applications.  Usually it is not necessary, but it is perfectly safe to have around, especially when it contains what you describe.  Who are the fairly typical system.ini file content.  FON files are CGA and EGA display fonts files, mmdrv.dll is a Media Manager for a sound card, and timer.drv is a pilot of the timer. • Slow buffering for video files

    Hi all

    Since I've upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 I asked problems with buffering speed when watching video files; the buffering is not enough before you stop and start the video. Very annoying. Any ideas on what might be the cause of the problem and how do I fix this? I use a new HP Pavilion with enough bells and whistles so I am sure that is not hardware related.

    Thanks in advance,

    Sharon R.

    Hi SharonMary,

    Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers!

    a. what browser do you use?
    are b. you having trouble playing the videos online?

    Follow these steps to speed up buffering videos online on all sites:

    1. click on the Start button.

    2. Type "system.ini" in the search box

    3. press "enter".

    After that, you will have file Notepad system identical or similar to this:

    Code:

    ; support for 16-bit app

    [386Enh]

    woafont = dosapp.fon

    EGA80WOA. FON = EGA80WOA. FON

    EGA40WOA. FON = EGA40WOA. FON

    CGA80WOA. FON = CGA80WOA. FON

    CGA40WOA. FON = CGA40WOA. FON

    [drivers]

    Wave = mmdrv.dll

    Timer = Timer.drv

    [mci]

    Make a backup that is named system_backup. TXT and save it somewhere just in case, and then add the following code in the system. INI file prior to the [drivers]:

    Code:

    page = 1000000Tbps buffer

    load = 1000000Tbps

    Download = 1000000Tbps

    Save = 1000000Tbps

    back = 1000000Tbps

    Search = 1000000Tbps

    voice = 1000000Tbps

    faxmodemfast = 1000000Tbps

    Update = 1000000Tbps

    So now your system. INI file should look like this:

    Code:

    ; support for 16-bit app

    [386Enh]

    woafont = dosapp.fon

    EGA80WOA. FON = EGA80WOA. FON

    EGA40WOA. FON = EGA40WOA. FON

    CGA80WOA. FON = CGA80WOA. FON

    CGA40WOA. FON = CGA40WOA. FON

    page = 1000000Tbps buffer

    load = 1000000Tbps

    Download = 1000000Tbps

    Save = 1000000Tbps

    back = 1000000Tbps

    Search = 1000000Tbps

    Sound = 1000000Tbps

    Webcam = 1000000Tbps

    voice = 1000000Tbps

    faxmodemfast = 1000000Tbps

    Update = 1000000Tbps

    [drivers]

    Wave = mmdrv.dll

    Timer = Timer.drv

    [mci]

    I hope this helps!

  • XP machine does not start, vgaoem.fon missing or corrupt error

    Machine was shut down normally, but now we are getting the following error:

    Windows could not start. The following file is missing or damaged

    \windows\system\vgaoem.FON.

    You can try to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original

    installation CD-ROM. Select 'r' in the first screen to start repair.

    We have the configuration or the Start Menu, however is the only CD that we have CD of resettlement supplied with the machine.  How can we fix this?

    We went through the 315338 article - but no bootable disk.

    I would love to follow the instructions, but the cd supplied with the machine (Dell) is to reinstall Windows only.  We are unable to boot from it.

    Dells make it easy to start with the bootable CD. All you need to do is press F12 as soon as you turn on the PC. Then you will see a screen that looks like this:

    http://ImageShack.us/photo/my-images/70/bootdevicemenu2wz.PNG/

    Select the option for IDE CD-ROM device.

    Then, when you see this screen:

    http://www.adminxp.com/windowsxp/instxp1a.PNG

    Make sure you do exactly that! (Here, press any key on the keyboard so that you boot YOU from CD).

  • Missing or damaged VGA.fon. My computer cannot start because of this

    I turned on my CPU and and error message that vga.fon is missing or damaged, and so it won't let me log on to Windows. I read that you need the installation CD of Windows XP that came with your CPU. For some reason, my CPU has not included an XP installation CD so what can I do to solve this problem?

    haloman54,
    If your PC came with a XP disk or recovery disk, you will need to contact the PC manufacturer.  Some OEMS will provide support for recovery of replacement for a reasonable price.  Once you have a XP disc you can boot mode safe mode with command prompt and run "sfc/scannow" as which can help solve your problem. • Missing or damaged VGA.fon

    can I use my xp home edition to repair my wifes xp professional on his computer because she has never had xp professional disc

    You try to start Windows XP, you see a message similar to the following:

    Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
    \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\vgaoem.FON

    You can try to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD.
    Select 'r' in the first screen to start.

    If the c:\windows\fonts\vgaoem.fon file is missing, you will see this message.

    Despite the fact that the message says: the file is missing in \WINDOWS\SYSTEM, the file is actually missing in the c:\windows\fonts folder, so you can just replace it with the backup copy of the file that is already on the hard drive.

    In the following article in Microsoft (cited for reference only), it is said to use the XP Recovery Console to expand the file missing from your installation (Microsoft XP CD
    always assumed that you have such a thing) in the c:\windows\system folder:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315338/en-us

    Following the instructions of this article can resolve the startup problem if you happen to have a genuine XP bootable installation CD, but most of the people do not have a genuine XP bootable installation CD and is not really where the font files are supposed to go and it's also not where the vgaoem.fon file is installed on a new install of XP.

    In Windows XP, the font files are usually in this folder:

    c:\Windows\Fonts

    So if I had to replace the vgaoem.fon file, I would put it in the same folder with the rest of the font files.  You can resolve the initial error of missing file anyway, but by putting the file in c:\windows\system or c:\windows\fonts - it's up to you.

    You don't need a real XP bootable installation CD to replace the file because it is a backup copy of the file already on your hard drive, but do not boot your system on something.

    If you do not have a genuine XP bootable installation CD or are not sure what type of bootable CD, you have, you can create a bootable XP
    Recovery Console CD (no XP media required) and then replace the file by using the bootable CD, you did.

    If you need help to create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console, I can tell you how to do this.

    After starting in the Console recovery XP either your XP installation CD real bootable XP Recovery Console CD bootable you did, it would be advisable first to check the integrity of your file system by running:

    Chkdsk /r

    When clean running the chkdsk/r, and then replace the file missing or suspect.

    From the C:\WINDOWS of Recovery Console prompt, enter the following command to copy the file:

    copy system32\dllcache\vgaoem.fon c:\windows\fonts

    Answered in the affirmative if invited to replace or replace the file.

    You should see a message that a file has been copied.

    Type "exit" at the Recovery Console prompt to restart the system.

    Do, or do not. There is no test.

  • SA40-702. Does not start, missing file...

    Hello
    I have a series SA40-702 Satellite. I had the laptop for about 18 months and until recently had no problems with it.
    While on the Internet one day, the laptop has decided to lock up & then close on me, I'm sure that, it displays a message on the execution of a physical memory dump, anyway it closes I started in safemode, performed an analysis of drive & off frag & all appeared to be well again for about a week. He then decided to do it again, but this time he wont even go into safe mode. It displays a message - Impossible start because the following file is missing or corrupt " \Windows\System\vgaoem.fon ."
    I really don't want to have to do a full recovery on this because I have a lot of important information about the hard drive I need.

    Can someone tell me if its possible to load this file back to laptop...?

    Thanks in advance, & apologies if it's a bit lengthy...

  • Windows could not load the NLS being missing or corrupt data.

    I reinstalled Windows Vista 32 bit on my laptop Gateway using the OEM install cd that comes with it, but now, when I boot, I have the following window:

    Windows Boot Manager

    Windows could not start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To resolve this problem:
    1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
    2. choose your language settings, and then click "next".
    3. click on "Repair your computer."

    If you do not have the disk, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

    Status: 0xc000000f
    Info: Windows failed to load the NLS being missing or corrupt data.

    Reading a similar post, I tried kites 3 methods of WinRE (Startup Repair, Bootrec /RebuildBcd, System Recovery) but they didn't work. I ran the WinRE Windows memory diagnostic tool and no error on my hard drive.

    I went to the gateway support site & also tried to access the recovery partition by pressing ALT + F10 to reboot, but it didn't work either. I tried pressing F8 safe mode, but I don't have the option "Repair your computer" that would have gotten me in the window of the gateway recovery management. I can't get in either safe mode, load a list of files and stops on Loaded: \Windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys, then the message Windows Boot Manager window reappears again (see above).

    Reading another post, perhaps to copy files .nls of my installation on my hard drive cd would do the trick, but I don't know how to do this. I need the old data, I want to just my laptop to boot and run without having to buy a new hard drive.

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Here is an answer I've found: http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/34039669/nls-data-is-missing--cannot-repair.aspx of Gary Velvet:

    I set up an instance of Vista virtual machine and copied since all the
    *.nls in/Windows/System32 files and all *.fon files of the
    Windows/Fonts.  I then put on a USB key and inserted in
    the breakage of the machine.

    I didn't know that this WindowsRE could read USB drives. It does things
    easier. I then crushed the files on the area damaged with those of the
    clean installation and a reboot took me directly in Vista.

    If may also be possible to copy corrupted files of a true Vista Installation DiskLhttp://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/261616-extract-files-vista-installation-dvd.html.

    To find out which kid are corrupt, we need to run a program to find the corrupted system files. If you use the drive, go to the prompt controls and cd to C:\Windows\System32. Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files usinghttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228.  Try to put all the files corrupt here so that we can see if they can be repaired with good copies of the installation disc if we can identify those who go there where replace them correctly.

    Let's see how these options work before considering anything else.

    I hope this helps.  Keep me in the loop.

    I have an iPhone 7 more than 128 GB. Unfortunately when I click on 'Video' app on my iPhone, all my music videos, that I bought from iTunes disappeared and moved to the application 'Music'. Now, it's really confusing. Apple seems to break the apps more than fixing. Why? before iOS 10 never comes, iOS 9 worked very well and all my music videos are in the 'Video' app, all my songs are in the "Music" app, not more, there now appear to be broken, involved putting each of them in the application 'music '. Even when I play the video clip in the application of the 'Video' on iOS 9 which usually have closed captions on it, now on iOS 10 in the application 'music' don't have it anymore. ITunes on my PC play subtitles on the music video, I need this back on my iPhone! I have total of 401 songs [for the most part, are ripped from my CDs and some songs are purchased from iTunes included music videos purchased on iTunes] and only 333 is transferred to my iPhone and 68 are missing. I get most videos music and songs that I bought in gray [68 of them are]. I even went to "Purchased" and redownload everything and it remains grayed out... • App missing Documents

    I recently made a few changes, accidentally turned on iCloud and

    all my data went to the cloud.

    Frustrating because I would rather have it on my computer.

    Apart from that my entire application of Documents is missing.

    It shows in the cloud and I copied the info but still do not have the

    App to put in.

    I thought about reloading Sierra.  This would help to restore the App?

    iCloud is a completely separate to your Documents folder, so at least you did drag the files to the folder of iCloud has no way he as magically put everything in iCloud.   That said, iCloud keeps a local copy of everything you put in your computer, so even if it's in icloud it is also locally stored on your computer.

    Application for documents?  Do you mean 'Finder '?  If this isn't the case, you will need to explain what app you are talking about.

    Where at - it go away to?

    Have you tried looking for him with Siri or Spotlight?

    Sierra reloading would put just as he was, but I doubt that such drastic action should be taken.

    Also ti recharge Sierra you need to clean your hard drive and start from scratch. So make sure that you back up all your files before continuing.

    Since the release of El Capitan 10.11.6, favorites are missing from the smart search field in Safari to new Windows.  If a Safari any page web (so far), clicking in the search box if poster is Favorites to view icons, as is expected.

    Is this a bug, or can I make some adjustments to bring them new windows?

    Hello Dick Huitema.

    If I understand your message to the right, when you open a new window in Safari, you do not see your favorite icons in the smart search field.  When I use Safari, I always like to have my favorites available and ready to use, so I can understand why you would be tender for assistance with this.

    You probably feel that if Safari is set to open new windows in an empty page. If yours is configured in this way, there is a very easy way to get these favorites icons to show without actually changing any settings. When you open a Web page, you should see a blank webpage with your top search bar and a cursor blinking in the search bar. Instead click inside the search bar right away, click anywhere on the empty Web page and then click on in the empty search bar. You should then see your Favorites icons appear.

    Another option is to set your homepage to your Favorites. You can do it in Safari > Preferences. On the general tab in Safari preferences, select the drop-down menu next to "new windows open with", and then choose favorite. This should ensure that when you open new web pages, all your Favorites icons show immediately. Favorites icons always appear in the smart search field when additional tabs are open as well.

    Here are a couple of really helpfuls articles on Safari Favorites and search options:
