HP dv6-2174tx screen touch volume control display missing

I have HP dv6-2174tx I formatted the hard drive and partitioned as I wanted. reinstalled windows 7 Home premium 32-bit. Everything works fine. I just lost the volume control on the screen that appears when you turn the volume upwards or downwards. I can't find the software/driver to be installed to make it work. Anyone know what that/where I might find it? Thank you so much in advance for any help!

Hello

To get visuals on the screen, you will need to download and install MediaSmart SmartMenu here (version 3.2.1.12 for 32/64-bit Win7).

Before you do that you must have installed at least one application of the MediaSmart software package. The best choice will be in my opinion:

MediaSmart DVD here (version 4.1.4328 for 32/64-bit Win7)

Above solution have one flaw. When you adjust volume for example while playing games or videos online then the current window will be inappropriate to display visual effects. If this can be annoying you then uninstall system MediaSmart software and use another product that is:

3VRX here (version 2.5 for 32/64-bit Win7)

Note:

Here is YouTube video that shows what can be done with the 3VRX software.

my volume control is missing from my toolbar, and I can't find the volume on my laptop

    Hi MHartley

I suggest you refer to the below link and display all icons in the notification area.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/show-all-icons-in-the-notification-area-system-tray

Also you can make sure that the volume icon is enabled in the notification area-
    a. open the taskbar and Start Menu properties by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, appearance and personalization, then clicking on the taskbar and Start Menu.

    b. click on the Area of Notification tab, to see icons, click Customize, click the icon (volume), you want to display, and then select the drop down options accordingly.
    c. click applyand then click OK.

    I hope this helps.

  • My volume control is missing from the taskbar.

Even if I had the volume control on the taskbar before, I get the message under sound & audio in the control panel volume control has not been installed and that I should go to add/remove program to install. How do I do that?

Do you mean you see a message like this:

Windows cannot display the control of volume on the taskbar because the Volume control program has not been installed. To install it use Add/Remove programs in Control Panel.

This means that your system is currently or has been infected with malicious software and your antivirus/antimalware unspecified program quarantined (actually deleted) the following file (assuming that XP is installed on your C drive):

    c:\windows\system32\sndvol32.exe

That part is usually easy to solve if by simply replacing the file and replace the file will do nothing to relieve your system of malware infections, but we don't know anything about your system.

I'll take a guess and think that you are running a version of XP with Service Pack 3 and you have no genuine XP bootable installation CD.

I downloaded a copy of the file for XP Service Pack 3 on my SkyDrive (everyone has a SkyDrive for file sharing).

You can download it and when you do, place a copy of the file in these two folders (assuming that Windows is installed on your C drive):

    c:\Windows\System32
c:\Windows\System32\dllcache (this is where XP keeps backups of important files).

Answered in the affirmative if invited to replace the existing files.

Here is the link to my SkyDrive and you can get the file you need here:

    http://CID-6a7e789cab1d6f39.SkyDrive.live.com/redir.aspx?RESID=6A7E789CAB1D6F39! 311

When you see the files available for download, you will not see the extension of file (.exe, .dll, .cpl, .sys, etc), but when download you them they will have the right extension.

You have to put the downloaded files in the correct folders on your system.

That may not solve all your problems, but at least you will be spending this part and we can then fix the rest.

I hope you're curious to know how it happened, so answer these questions the best you can:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

Finally, no matter what you use for malware protection, I would follow with this:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
Restart your computer and solve the outstanding issues.

  • FN keys and volume control does not not on Satellite A210-131

    Hello
I have a Satellite A210-131 for 3 days now, and the FN keys do not work. The numeric keypad using FN works fine, just the F1-12 combined with FN do nothing. I have the latest drivers and utilities from the website...

In addition, my touch volume control works quite stupid, it takes less than 20 seconds to set and then its way too hard... I always have to go to the sound control menu to change...
    Help, please!

    Hello

It's very strange. Usually, if you press the FN key and keep down flash cards must be indicated at the top of the screen. Please try to restart flash cards: start > all programs > TOSHIBA > utilities > restart Flash Cards.

I don't know what the problem with the touchpad and the control volume but friends Satellite X 200 (the same tablet like on your A200) works well. Problem described is quite strange, and to be honest, I don't know.

  • Satellite A110-142 - Volume Control/Sound Drivers are missing

After using my laptop for a period of time yesterday, I realized that the audio had failed, I checked the volume settings and found that the volume control icon missing from the taskbar. After further investigation, it seems that the audio hardware device drivers are missing and a code 39 error message appears. I tried to update the drivers (the system tells me that there is no appropriate updates), then I tried to uninstall and reinstall devices, nothing helps.

In addition, I tried to do a system restore but whenever it does not work. I don't know if the two problems are related, but I'm at a loss on how to restore the audio features.

Any help to fix the problem would be greatly appreciated.

Before continuing to chat about it can you please tell us what operating system do you use?

By the way: perhaps you should back up all your data and install the new OS by using the original recovery disk. After that what you do will have the laptop with the factory settings. This will be the best option to check if there is perhaps a few hardware malfunction.

I don't know what went wrong, but after using my laptop last night and start using it now, I think not my volume control icon, I'm pretty sure that I saw him last night because I tried to change my volume settings while playing downloaded from music.  Also, I downloaded Nero 9 last night it would be the cause? Step 2:

.. .restart computer and check again.

That's exactly what I did!... when restarting didn't work the 1st and the 2nd time, I restarted again!
I have a PC HP Compaq on Vista.
I installed the new HP D2660 printer yesterday,
    restart the computer.
Each icon is a shortcut to a page of browser Firefox Web is empty, is not going anywhere.
The volume control is missing from the system tray.
No sound on YouTube videos for example.
I have double checked everything connected ok.
I downloaded an audio driver of HP/Compaq's Web site (which I can't do):
"Realtek High Definition Audio Driver Update for Vista
    "Compaq Presario SR5152NX 2008-03-01, Version: 6.0.1.5548, 12.34 M
Restart the computer by following the instructions.
Panel, sound, speakers, Realtek HD Audio shows: work
Taskbar and Start Menu, right-click on the taskbar system tray, properties, Notification area... Volume icon is gray.
I now have in my taskbar icon of HP for RealtekHD Audio Manager but no Volume icon.
Sound now works well for example on a video YouTube online, but missing still Volume icon from the system tray.
    Restarted the computer.
At hp.com, customer service for my computer model, instructions for the Volume icon on the taskbar:
Notification area of the taskbar, properties, right-click... Volume now shows black :/ Checked the box 'apply '.
"If the icon appears in the area of Notificatioin' you're ok... He did not show.
    Restarted the computer.

Came here for Microsoft (it would have been easier if I had come here in the first place :/
Right-click on the taskbar, Notif.Area, clicked on 'Volume' once again, clicked OK... volume icon now present in Notif.Area AND on the taskbar. Yay
I consider myself lucky... I didn't have to do the 15 steps the registry editor or delete registry Explorer keys and shouldn't have, thank God.
    Thank you

  • touchpad not working not properly and the volume control is not displayed

I have a HP Pavilion g6, and just recently, I noticed my 2 finger scroll stopped working. In order to use it, I have to go and open the "Synaptics Touchpad" whenever I start. Once I open and close my scroll is working again. Is it possible to keep on? Also, when I adjust the volume, no display on the middle of the screen there is more to show how high or low I'm adjusting! These things just stopped working it a month ago and I have no idea why!

    Hello

About the touchpad, start by downloading the latest installer Synaptics driver on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp59501-60000/sp59727.exe

Then, open windows control panel, open programs and features, right click on the entry "Synaptics Pointing Device Driver" and choose uninstall.

When this has completed, restart the laptop.

When windows has completely recharged, open your download folder, click with the right button on the setup of Synaptics and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  When this has completed, restart the computer again.

When windows has reloaded, you may now need to configure the options require you for the touchpad - open windows control panel, open the mouse, select the tab settings of the ClickPad, then click the button settings ClickPad.

With regard to the on-screen display, download and reinstall the following.

    HP utility screen.

    Kind regards
