  Yes it is possible, but the interface to the optical drive is probably not as fast as SATA connections hard disk because it does not need to be. You would be much better to install the SSD as drive and put a standard mechanical spinner disc into the adapter of optical drive for storage purposes. Put an SSD in there is somewhat a waste.

  I have the laptop DV6 6011tx, with 6770 M Mobile graphics card, it also have Intel HD graphics. Previously, I had windows 7 installed and I colud use Intel and AMD under win 7, but after installation of windows 8 and I cannot get my switchable feature enabled, please need help.

  It seems that this laptop has not been certified for Windows 8.

  There are few users on this forum can not get things to go smoothly after the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro. I expect a few weeks later rather than jumping to the band wagon and have to run upwards and downwards to find drivers. I have done an upgrade without a hiccup but the Bluetooth on my computer, but it's ok now.

  HP does not currently have drivers for Windows 8. You probably won't need them. Windows 8 is not coming. It's here!

  Just do the installation on a spare hard drive and bring the original HARD drive to a safe place.

  . Windows 8 has drivers built in for most laptops and desktop computers. I did have to look for a driver in two facilities. One was an HP mini and the other was a Toshiba laptop.

  Try the following.

  Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

  One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

  When finished, restart the computer and let Windows load completely.  Open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  'Speakers and headphones' left click once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio.

  Hey guys. I have a laptop HP Pavilion dv6-2155dx with a Intel Centrino Wireless - N 1000 wifi card. The card was to die for a long time now and about to go off completely. All other PCs and phones connect properly to the internet here, except that this laptop connects, but drops to around every 15 minutes, limited connectivity or so and I have to turn off the wifi and then turn it back on to operate for another 15 minutes.   The maintenance manual does not list a Centrino Wireless - N 1000 card. You must not only the correct chip, but he must have a part number of HP.   replacing the hard drive and do a clean install of windows 7 on the new drive, but when I try to install windows it cannot find the drivers for the hard disk. What happens with the original drive and the new drive.

  Found a way around the problem, using win2usb , I installed windows on the new drive, put it in the machine and it finished installing it.

  I have a HP Pavilion dv6 too - I came across your post (and 'Help' of Viki), because my contrast was all out of whack, too (much too bright). Adjust the gamma is nothing - but then I unplugged the power cord from the laptop, waited a second and plugged back in and voila! It's all good now. Don't know why...
