  A few months ago, I installed a bios update for my HP Elitebook 8540p.  After the update, the PC started trolling, so I tried to restart the PC.  Instead of reboting, all the lights turn on (except for the light of the HARD drive), and the CAPS lock flashes indefinitely.  I have serached tirelessly for a response to the restoration of the bios.   Tried to remove the CMOS battery, draining the power of the PC and also tried to start the update of the Bios of the page files produced here.

  But the situation is still the same

  Any help would be appreciated.

  Guess what! After all these months, I finally met an easy solution!

  Here are the steps to create USB Bootable USB drive and use the HPREADID for the information. TXT file.

  You need create the boot USB device and run the HP ReadID since the USB boot device. Here are the instructions step by step to get the necessary information.

  1. Connect a USB device to the USB port on the computer
  2. Run the Application HPUSBFW. EXE
  1. Ensure that ""device "' > > ' File System" : FAT 32 and > > "" Volume Label " is filled in as seen in the image above."
  2. Select/check mark > > create a boot BACK disk
  3. Select Browse and locate the file extracted USB Boot > > Files BACK into the system.
  4. Select OK and select the Start button
  5. Click on the " Yes" option to format the USB key (* Note all existing data on the USB key will be lost) ""
  1. USB drive will begin with the message 'Formatting the device' (* Note: this process will take a few minutes)
  1. You should see a Message format complete successfully
  1. Click the close button to exit the application.
  1. Now copy the file P32015_hpreadid.exe from the screen on the USB.
  1. Connect the USB device to the system, and turn on the device.
  1. Press ESC on the keyboard to bring up the START MENU
  1. Then select the F9 option to bring up the OPTION of START MENU
  1. Select the DRIVE HARD USB and press enter
  1. You should see a prompt C:\ .
  2. Enter the following command to C:\ guest
  3. C:/HPREADID.exe Press ENTER to get the information to display on the screen
  4. C:/HPREADID.exe > info.txt and press enter-T his saves the file on the USB key as info.txt
  5. Ask to Email us with the file Info.txt of new measures on the issue.

  Security is very strict.

  Remove the password admin or start will require replacement of the motherboard or BIOS CMOS chip with one that has been programmed with a new copy of a ROM family file there is place of BIOS.

  For the notebook to stay in coverage that must be performed by a service provider authorized HP.

  "I don't want to open up the laptop to reset the BIOS with the PIN, battery or switch... and I'm really not sure if this is possible with this model." The old-school methods are not possible with this generation of modern models of laptop Elitebook.

  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it's because there is no update of the HP BIOS for your PC.

  There are three models of this PC and all came with Win7 preinstalled (or more).  There is no update of the BIOS and not win10 of HP driver for any of the models.

  The problem, that you are facing is that Microsoft provides only pilots with the most basic features and what you really need for these features in laptops is the specialized drivers written for the specific material found in laptops - and unfortunately, there is no HP Win10 laptop driver.

  This means that your PC is probably NEVER going to be fully functional under Win10 because the pilots is needs for all features simply do not exist!

  Last week, I checked the updates to the bios for elitebook 8440p of the of my father and I saw 2 different entrances, f.13 (2011) & f.50 (2014). Subsequently I have updated BIOS F.12 F.13 to without any problems.

  I hesitated to update with F.50 because when I checked the F50 revision history, I saw that this goes back to F.21, nothing is mentioned about F.1* series.

  So, is it safe to update with F.50 or is it for some other versions of 8440p (if there is)?

  OK, the problem is resolved.

  You cannot reset your bios EliteBook, with unknown-admin-password Bios, without the help of HP!

  But HP is verry useful!

  I started to work as an administrator, but a worker in front of me made the passwords to get into BIOS on three notebooks of EliteBook 8560p. I can start Windows normally, but if something goes wrong, I will not be able to enter the BIOS and move the boot priority.
