THE HP ELITEBOOK NOTEBOOK BIOS BOOT ORDER

Please how can I change the boot order of the bios of hp elitebook specifically.

Hello

You start the computer look at the screen for configuration/settings keys to enter to the BIOS-
often F2, Esc, DEL, or other. Many computers have also keys in boot option, often
F12, to set the boot sequence without entering the BIOS.

For specific instructions control with Support HP, their books online, and/or
ask in their forums.

  • In the BIOS boot order stopped showing my external DVD player

I use a laptop HP Compaq presario V3000 series, model no. V3018TU. I use a DVD drive with her as my internal DVD player does not work properly.

External DVD drive functions correctly after windows starts. The problem is that he displayed in the boot order. I want to install Ubuntu alongside with XP. I am not able to give priority to installing Ubuntu on boot as it is not showing in the boot order. After starting my laptop, it starts to load XP.

That's what I was doing just before this problem arose. Everything was fine. I was installing Ubuntu along side Windows XP my laptop and in-between the installation got stuck and my hard drive was not working when I rebooted, I made my hard drive to work somehow and then I found another problem, i.e.my external DVD drive is not showing in the boot order. All the other things i.e.my hard drive, internal DVD player (does not work correctly) etc., appear but except for my external DVD player. I need my external DVD player to display in the boot order to install ubuntu.

Help me fix the problem. Thanks in advance.

  • In new style bios boot order

I have a new laptop Win 8 HP4540s that totally confuses me when I try to create a boot order that will allow (in order) optical drive DVD, USB drive, on Board HDD.

First of all, I did a lot of changes to BIOS, I can't think of a return to the default settings would be a desirable course point - please help.

Then, perhaps offer advice how to achieve my goals.

At present, the cell F9 boot order is:

    OS boot manager

    Laptop Ethernet IPV4

    Laptop Ethernet IPv6

    Boot to the EFI file

Left alone, the system starts the Win8 operating system

Why boot from DVD or USB memory stick, we use the Acronis boot disk (or USB drive to memory to create a full image of HARD drive for security purposes.)

I wish I had a technical paper on the BIOS settings

    Hello

There is not a perfect solution yet but I'm hoping that HP creates one for your situation.

  • How to reset the HP Elitebook 8440p bios admin password

I bought this used and update the bios. It doesn't let me do unless I give him the admin password. How to remove the password?

SOLUTION: This is what I did and worked like a dream. Contacted HP, told them the problem. They "rise of the case," took my info. The next day, I sent a file called SMC.bin. It is formatted specifically for my machine to match the UUID. A file copied to FAT 32 format USB key, started in accordance with the instructions of e-mail, password bios reset.

I did it via the cat on the HP website.

  • The virtual computer's BIOS boot menu +.

    Hello

At the start of my virtual machine, I pressed the ESC key and open the start menu:

    1 + removable devices

    2 + hard drive

    3. CD-ROM drive

    4. network boot

Why 1. and 2. I sing anymore? It is that that means that 1. and 2. have sub-menus?

The + sign indicates sub entries. If you go into the BIOS, you can see what they are.

  • Satellite R630-141 - cannot change the boot order

I have a Toshiba R630-141 and I'm changing the boot order in the Bios, but the Bios does not allow me to choose my cd drive or a USB drive as the startup disk.

I've updated the Bios today to the latest version, thinking that I need the latest version but still the Bios allows me to change the order.

The problem is the screen flashes only when I'm in the form of change of boot order. When I select the upper and down arrows to select an option in the box just blinks and does not allow me to select any option.

I tried the tab key, the number keys basically all of the keys that I on the keyboard, and still, I can't select usb or cd drive so I have to quit and restart.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Hi scarpentier,

You can change the boot order in the BIOS and booting from another boot device? Go into the BIOS and change the boot order. Enter a startup disk (e. g. Toshiba recovery disc), save & exit the BIOS Setup. The computer will restart and should boot from the CD.

    Check this box!

  • Re: Satellite A210-10 has, crashes when you change the boot order

    Hello

I have a serious problem with my computer Toshiba laptop, Windows Vista 32-bit, clocked at 1.8 Ghz, 2 GB RAM, AMD Turion 64 x 2
There is only a single disk partitioned into two drives of 75 GB (C and E).

The problem is that whenever I enter the start menu (for boot from CD), or if I change in the BIOS boot order and restart, the computer hangs (power cut off suddenly).
So the only way to recover, is to connect the AC/DC adapter, wait 5 minutes and repeat. Then, everything lights up normally or launches of Windows system recovery, after what he will restart and work very well.

It would be important to know that I partitioned the drive to have 30 GB for installing Win7 later. The problem is that I've never tried to change the boot order before repartitioning, so I don't know if it has something to do with the problem or if it was there before.

Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thank you

It seems that the issue related to the Bios. Have you tried to put update or reflash?

Maybe this has happened before, but you don't check.

  • Using SetConfig.vbs on T500\T510\T520 change boot order?

Everyone on a T500\t510\T520 BIOS boot order successfully changed using the (SetConfig.vbs) utility of Lenovo WMI Bios?  Whenever I try to change the bios boot order by using this utility, I get the error, "invalid parameter."

Parameter variables are: SetConfig.vbs [Setting] [value]

I changed other settings successfully, but I can get it to work.

    Current BOOTORDER by using "ListAll.vbs".

    BootOrder = HDD0:USBFDD:ATAPICD0:USBCDCILAN:USBHDD:HDD1

    Command I use on a T500 is: SetConfig.vbs BOOTORDER USBFDD:HDD0:ATAPICD0:USBCDCILAN:USBHDD:HDD1

I'm just this test of an operating system running to possibly use in SCCM OSD task sequence.

    There is no BIOS password.

Any ideas?  I get the same error on all 3 models listed above and I'm using the latest version of the WMI utility.

    Thank you

Correct command is BootOrder and not BOOTORDER.

    Hello, thierry_ma-

Here, it is another way.  We wrote on this topic to vNugglets.com some time in the post of the change via PowerShell VM boot order .  I just checked that this method always works against a v5.1 environment.  You might have a look at this post.

And, as noted at the bottom of this post, the virtual computer startup order in this way script setting seems to make such that that particular boot order VM may only be changed be script later.  So something to consider.

In any case - how does do for you?
