HP Media Center m7260n PC: upgrade hard drive

I have a ST3300831AS ATA 320 GB hard drive and I would like to upgrade to a 1 TB hard drive. Is this possible and if so what are the products available?

Hello

Yes, you can use 1 TB. ST3300831AS is a Seagate HDD, in theory, you can use any brand, but please try to use the same mark to be sure.

Kind regards.

How can I transfer video files to the library in windows media player for an external hard drive. My os is Windows XP Home Edition and I use wmp 11.

You have to locate the files on your internal hard drive, using the Explorer, then drag and drop them on the hard drive.  If you don't know where they are on your hard drive, right click on the video file in the library and choose the location of the opened file.

  • Firebird 802 - upgrade hard drives - Solid State / hybrid anyone?

I'm upgrading hard drives on my Firebird 802 (the part the WEAKEST of my Firebird and the SMALLEST score on Windows Index). I replaced the drive secondary with a Seagate 500 GB SATA drive at 7200 RPM (ST950042 4AS) and REALLY improved performance (I have my file on the secondary drive).

It's now time to upgrade the MAIN disk. I'm looking at a "Hybrid" car A Seagate ST95005620AS Momentus XT 500 GB Solid State Hybrid Drive - 500 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA 3 Gb/s.

Has anyone tried upgrading the main drive of a hybrid? For a solid Sate drive?

    Thank you

    Enzo

Well WELL, @ 10:39 PM PST after FOUR and a HALF and TWO attempts of the hybrid drive WORKS as my main drive on my Firebird 802!

Using the data transfer software CMS Bounceback ($14.99 per download) the program was missing several files that were essential for the computer to boot. Once I checked the transfer journal and moved the files myself IT BOOTS!

THUS, in a few weeks, I'll post the kind of increases in speed that I experience. First comment, my drives are running @ 98 degrees F. It's HOT, so I'll have to come back a fan for the hard disk enclosure, in fact, you can put at the front of the box and jump through this background grid. Going to put in place tomorrow. Now I'm BEAT!

Thus, it CAN BE DONE on your Firebird! Solution, HERE!

    Thank you!

  • 6400 upgrade Hard Drive just SHRUNK... Once again!!!

First of all let me state that I am ready to throw my computer and TWO 2, TWO Yes upgrade hard drives out of my 2nd floor window!

OK, my wind is done, for now.

I have an Inspiron 6400 with HDD 80 GB of origin (73.1 GB space.)  I wanted to go to a Western Digital 250 GB hard drive.  I bought the drive and cloned it.  My first attempt was a purchase Norton Ghost program (after the $150 for the reader, that's another $50 for the program) I cloned it from the laptop via a USB - SATA connection.  Everything seemed fine, until I swapped hard drives.  He got through the BIOS, no problem, then started to windows.  Immediately, it projected blue and that was that.  Swap return original hard drive, everything OK.  Put old drive in the spare computer/SATA slot and realized that the reader shrunk to 73.1 GB. . the SAME SIZE as the original drive.

After days/weeks and literally probably 5 to 6 hours of troubleshooting, downloading about 4-5 programs, utilities, etc, and have EVERY single utility, test and program otherwise tell me the car was very good (less the fact that he was now 170 GB smaller) I thought that drive was simply bad then returned.  (After fighting with Tiger Direct, I had to return it directly to WD, but they at least sent me a replacement unit before that I had to return the first...  (where my 'two' drives))

So I have the new, 2nd hard drive in hand and I say to myself that I would be the clone differently, from my desktop (Dell 690) who had a few ports SATA spare on it.  I cloned it with a different program and once again, everything seems to be okay.  It showed in my office.  This time, I've set manually the new disk partitions to what I end up with.)

So I put the new, larger, cloned drive in the computer, booted and BAAM!  Exactly the same thing.  Blue screen stop...  And guess what... The drive is now 73.1 GB. . and once more, there is nothing I can do to bring back to 250 GB... any computer, software, utility, etc. I throw at it or throw it out in...

Back to Western Digital... but this time, I don't know yet what to say or how to proceed.

    My questions are:

    1. What is happening and why I can't get a 250 GB drive in the machine.  (I can't find ANYWHERE a maximum limit of hard drive)

    2. any thoughts on how to get my drive to the correct size of declaration?

I'm really steam it... I have never spent so much time on what should be a simple question in my 15 years and more and about 20 + systems of computers through my hands...

    Thanks in advance

    Blake

I can't access any program now CS4 after upgrade my hard drive to an SSD. I get a small dialog box saying "license for this product has stopped working. The chat tech support person told me that CS4 is "not compatible" with El Capitan, but I've been using Cs4 for several months now with El Capitan, so it's not true.

In the past, when I've got a new Mac or upgraded the operating system, I had the opportunity in an Adobe dialog to enter my serial number in, but this is not the case now.

Nothing has changed since this morning except my newly upgraded hard drive. Except that this time I don't have a way to enter my serial number and reactivate.

  • Should media be copied on the hard drive first?

Came today houses a few complaints of my wife on the problems with PE8 and discovered that, on my proposal, she took the card from the camera flash, put it in our reader of USB and any media files directly from there (rather than through the USB cable to the camera, as we have done for years).

She used the command get the media, but it seems that get the media does not copy the original hard disk first, as I try to do to get the media. Can't blame him or any other user; Get sounds of media as it is the right think to click, and the images come right into the system...

She began to make a nice slideshow with music and did a great job, until the preview window has stopped changing with the audio - I can rub, but as soon as I try playback the picture in the right preview window freezes but the sound continues to play.

I unplugged the USB media player and, of course, the project could not find the media. It is disappointing that 'Get media' did not get the media out of the map at all. If we had taken the lead and erased and re-used the map, the media would be gone forever!

More disappointing, now there is no reading on ALL the projects that we have, even those that have been conducted successfully with completely different media that is on the hard drive.

Then, media must be copied manually on the hard disk before you use the command get the media to align with the project and/or the Organizer?

And if so, is that not stupid enough? I've gotta be something missing here...

Transfer of files to a card, or the camera HDD (hard drive) and get the media are two completely separate operations. Let me explain:

When you transfer the files from the source to your system, you make a copy of these files on your system HARD drive. THEN, when get you the media, you are linking only the editing program (NLE) to your project. If they are still on the disk HARD of the camera or flash card, or similar, and you unplug the appliance or remove the Middle, these links are broken.

It's exactly the same thing, when using an external HARD disk. Files are not automatically copied to the internal HARD drive, but are related to the external HARD drive. Unplug the external and pre cannot locate files. It would be the same if we put onto a DVD and then linked to files on this disc. Remove the disc, and the links will be broken. Copy these files on and THEN link to them, and as long as you do not move or delete these files, the links work.

This ARTICLE will give you some information about what is in the project file (.) PREL). There is NO media inside those, only links.

Hope this helps and also explains the differences between first copy and then by linking and just a link to the files.

    Good luck

    Hunt

  • I have Media Center 2002 and upgrade to 2006. How can I do?

I recently had a new hard drive and now can't use higher than Windows Media Player 9 I can't find plug-ins to play the DVD in there.  I want Media Center 2006 edition to support Windows Media Player 11.  Can I download it somewhere without losing my data?

MCE 2005 is a separate product of 2002: she uses a different set of product keys.

You can't improve your system without the right key - and MS stopped selling MCE in 2007, when he released Vista.

The latest Media Player updates should be available in updates of Windows, in the section updated optional, once you use the custom option for the analysis of updates.

If it is not there, then the system is unable to use it - and I see that MP11 requires at least MCE2005.

    I think you're out of luck :(

  • Satellite Pro A10: Question about upgrade HARD drive

I want a bigger hard drive, but xp home edition preinstalled. If I change the hard drive I don't think that the recovery disc would work to re install xp. How can I do this without having to buy a new version of windows? Oh, it's a portable satellite pro spa10.

Sorry, but why you are suggesting that the recovery CD will not recognize the new HARD drive?
The fact is that if the BIOS will recognize the new HARD drive then you will have no problem for the recovery and the installation of the OS.

If you want to upgrade the HARD drive, you must use a compatible. Then everything simply initialize-towards the top of the recovery CD and the operating system will install on the new HD disc.

  • Satellite C650, media recovery fails after replacing HARD drive

I have a 3 years C650, and the HARD drive has failed. I got a replacement drive and sorts to recover from the recovery media disks that I created and although he claimed to have re - partition the drive and reinstalled windows, windows startup fails when tried to configure the devices "could not configure windows to run on this hardware.

After this error, the boot sequence goes into an endless loop, asking to start the installation procedure.

Thinking that my records may have been corrupted, I ordered a set of Toshiba recovery disks. Once again, these go through the recovery process and still once, Windows startup does not exactly in the same place.

A little annoying to have spent £30 for nothing.

I have a picture of Windows system on my external HARD drive, but I can't get the machine to a point where it will actually start so I can recover from that.

Any suggestions on how to proceed is welcome!

    Thank you
    Martin

    Hello

Of course, this isn't a problem of recovery disk.
I guess there is a problem with the HARD drive but I n t think that the HARD drive has failed I think there is a problem of setting

First, you should go to BIOS and check if the SATA set to AHCI.
Then you should also format the HARD drive again.

I recommend to use the freeware tool called GParted. You could create a live USB stick bootable flash memory which will allow you to start the unit and start GParted tool.
Format the HARD drive, and then create a partition.

After that, take the recovery disk and start the recovery procedure.
    Good luck

  • Satellite P20 upgrade hard drive

I have a 20 P with 60 GB hard drive, which fills up quickly.
Can I switch to one of the largest new HD such as

    Toshiba 100 GB MK1032GAX?

I also guess that my standard would be IDE and I can't use S - Ata?
The BIOs supports this size of HD?

    Thanks, Birgit (starting the computer)

    Hi, Birgit

As far as I know just newer models of laptops have 100 GB hard drives. I had last year to P20. Nice unit.

In my view there should not be any problems but of course try to contact the after-sales Service of Toshiba partner in your country. They have experience with the hardware upgrade.

Please let us know if the upgrade will be successful.

    Thank you

  • Satellite P100-332: Upgrade HARD drive and 4 GB of RAM

    Hello

    I'm new to the forum...
Well, I want to change 2 things on my Toshiba Satellite P100-332

    1. I have 2 GB of RAM at 533 mhz and I saw on Everest, as well as on the information that I put up. 4 GB RAM 667 mhz. If I want to ask if theres no limitation about to use a special brand of RAM? Or can I use any laptop RAM to 667 mhz? I buy 2 DIMM 2 GB 667, to stay with 4 GB RAM 667 mhz.

2 - my laptop came with a 4200 RPM ATA hard drive and I want to know if I can change my hard drive to another as one with 7200 RPM SATA as a http://www.pcvonline.com/productDetails.aspx?prodID=7434 and I have not seen yet if the Board supports, but does anyone know if I can put one like this?

    Hello

    (1) the Satellite P100-332 RAM can be upgraded up to 4 GB and you can also use the modules of 667 Mhz because AFAIK the FSB supports 667 MHz also.
But the fact is that Windows 32-bit (Vista and XP) would see only 3.2 GB due to the limitation of the 32 bit OS.

    (2) the laptop supports the SATA HDD controller and this is why you must use a SATA HDD. But usually it s no matter if the HDD SATA supports the 7200 RPM. In my opinion, you should be able to use these 7200 RPM HARD drive.

    Good bye

  • How to wear the Vista/Toshiba Satellite Pro A200 software after upgrade HARD drive

    Hello.

Have ordered a Seagate Momentus 7200.02 200 GB SATA-300 7200 RPM 16 MB 2.5 "for my Satellite Pro A200GE - 26. Toshiba slow disk with this laptop ships is simply not fast enough so it is replaced.

My question is this: can I use the recovery disc of the DVD came with my laptop to reinstall Vista and all the Toshiba drivers on this new album?

If this is not the case-how can I do?

If I can do it - could you give me a checklist of things to do?
Are several factors I need to get used to exist on the recovery disk?

I ask this because I know how to do this on a PC with the Original OS disc, but I was horrified when my laptop has been delivered and no original OS disk - I think it's very bad for any help would be accepted with gratitude.

    Thank you in advance,

    Kenny.

    Hello

You should not worry about the whole procedure, just install the HARD drive, put the recovery CD in your CD/DVD drive, press F12 and start with your CD drive or just press 'C' (which automatically inserted CD, boots).

The recovery is not limited to a specific HARD disk, it automatically adjusts the size of the partition and install EVERTHING on your disk as a preinstalled OS shipped directly from the factory. Don t you need some additional drivers or software, the only thing you need to do is to copy your personal data on the system drive and customize your windows.

It is the intention of recovery media: put it in and it does everything by itself.

    That's all. :)

    See you soon

  • Satellite Pro A120-107: Question about upgrade HARD drive

    Hello world

I have a 120-107 I am generally satisfied but the hard drive is too small and I think the upgrade in about 100 GB. What should I look for when buying? Any suggestions on the best drive to get? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

    Hello

"you just have to take care, that you buy a Sata Drive in the"form factor"2.5". That's all.
As I know, the biggest that drive was delivered with this machine was a 120 GB SATA drive.

Regarding the manufacturer: do not hesitate to take all the manufacturers that you like. The best would be Toshiba at all ;)
