HP Mini 311 - should I flashed my BIOS?

I have a HP Mini 311-1037NR (the product number is VBM262UA #ABA).   My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium.

The question more simply: should I FLASHED my BIOS?

I just started using my HP MINI again after a year of rest.  I did all Windows 7 updates that can be done.  I was even dedicated to device drivers and updated all those requiring updates.

Thanks to Provost User DavidPK, I identified a stack as error being the external battery.  I ordered the following and (Amazon says) it should arrive at my home on or before February 11.  Then, I'll be able to use it without a power cord (yay!).  Looking forward to that.  THANKS, DavidPK!

Now, I'm trying to decide now if I should update or FLASH the BIOS?  It can be risky, I understand.  So, I wonder if it is a gesture that would be the rishk?  I certainly don't want to update something on my machine just to say that I've updated.

Thoughts?

Hello

Good to hear the battery is on the right track

What about updating the bios, my personal opinion is that this should be done only if the update fixes a problem you already have, or adds features that you need.  Otherwise, if everything works well, I'd recommend flashing with a new version of the bios.

Best regards

Im trying to fix my friends computer hp mini 311. I replaced the hard drive with a 500 GB hard drive and installed windows 7 ult 32 x hard disk using another computer. It works fine in another desktop computer. Now, when I put it in the HP mini itll briefly begin to load windows then flashing blue screen and reset, then produced to bring up the repair of the system. I have run the repair of the system several times and when I hit finish it a few repeats itself (attempting to loading windows). Please help me if you can.

    Hello

I see that you encounter a problem starting the laptop computer. Now, if you went out hard and tested in another laptop and it works very well, most probably the motherboard gives you the BSOD.

You can try and test the drive in the BIOS so that we can be 100% positive that the hard drive is not the culprit here. Start Notepad, and then press F10 to access the BIOS. After accessing the BIOS follow this document if you can't reach the BIOS then I would suggest contacting HP@8004746836 or get a local technician to take a look at the motherboard.

    Let me know the results.

If you have any other questions please let me know.

  • Compaq mini 700 gray power flashing, does not illuminate

    Hello

I have a Compaq Mini 702EA netbook. It worked fine until two weeks ago.

The only thing that is happening now is when I plug in the power cord the gray light flashes continuously.

I have the hard reset, but not joy.

I searched the forum and it seems that I might need a new system board.

It would be OK to change the jury? Will I have any problem with the BIOS?

I tried different Chargers with her and they all have the same problem.

    Any help gratefully received

If different Chargers give the same result, then it is probably the system board.

It should not be a BIOS problem if it's a real card of HP system and that it is in a working state.

HP part number and the steps on how to replace the map are on page 54 in this guide.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c01631228.PDF

I recommend looking for the motherboard part number-based online and order from a reputable seller.  If it's the good motherboard, BIOS on the HP of your product support site apply to it.

  • HP Mini 311 is blocking video playback on network

I have a HP Mini 311 1000 - NR netbook running Windows 7 and it crashes into a video game on the network. It last a few seconds, the video locks, sound gets stuck, then he comes back and plays very well for a while. I should also note that when this happens the HARD drive led is solid, and the computer is completely insensitive.

This happens when playing Standard and HD video of all formats, avi, mkv, etc...

This occurs by ethernet and wireless. Ethernet is managed through a switch and bypasses the router.

The same videos work very well when played on the local hard drive.

After plugging the power cord makes no difference.

Set the power plan to high performance makes no difference.

I tried to play video files of multiple network shares on different PC with no changes, so it may not be a problem with the host computer.

All the drivers and software are of course aware.

    I'm out of ideas.

Uh, I said nothing about online games. Did you even read my ad?

Anyway, I solved the problem. It turns out that the driver for the Nvidia SATA controller was the issue. Manual installation of the microsoft driver that some windows fixed my problem.

  • Flash the BIOS to the operating system other than Vista

    Hello

I have a HP dv6500 running Windows 7 for which I want to upgrade the card wifi mini pci-e one of the cards intel available on Newegg, or maybe a 4G card.

However, I read the BIOS of HP stock has a whitelist for the wifi cards, and will work only to select the cards.

I find a updated F5A bios that I am willing to try: http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-HP-Disabled-Whitelist-Mega-Thread?pid=28193#pid28193

I have also heard that Flash a BIOS of Windows 7 it will damage, and the recommended solution is to reinstall Windows Vista. Is there a way to get around this? Maybe I could use a CD EP?

    Thanks in advance.

    Not that I know of.

Vista or bricks laptop is how I understand.

  • Flashing the BIOS

I have a m92p office, the system update suggests that I flashed the BIOS as a newer version is available.

I have no problem with the current BIOS I'm running and I always said, if you are not problems with your system, an update of the BIOS should not be done.

Thus inspired, I'll stay with the BIOS, I am running.

Anyone see any reason I should put in day?

    Thank you

It is always good to keep everything up to date, but if you're not used to perform tasks such as the flashing etc. BIOS. Then you can be wary about this procedure.

So, if you experience any problems at the moment and your current BIOS is able to detect all your H/W correctly i.e. CPU RAM & (including the choice of speed), then there is no really no reason for your to Flash the BIOS, if you look at the changelog for the latest version of the BIOS, including versions between your version and the latest version You can read what has changed since your version. If nothing is so NO there is not a reason for you to FLASH your BIOS. But somehow that you can FLASH is perhaps that there is a feature that has been added you want.

The only time where you need to, is if you upgrade your CPU or RAM, if newer models are loose they may not work without a FLASH of the BIOS.

So 'if it ain't broke don't fix it! " Lol, it's what I say to my friends.

    Thank you

  • ProBook 470 G3: ProBook 470 G3 fan system after flashing the BIOS errors

B has recently purchased a HP ProBook 470 G3 with i7 CPU. When I got the laptop I placed my own memory and M.2 SSD in and performed a clean installation of Windows 10 x 64. Everything was fine, I installed all the drivers and the laptop worked perfectly. However, when I flashed the new BIOS, V1.07 Rev A, I started to have problems.

I use the laptop for academic purposes, I so open and close several times a day. After flashing the BIOS again, the laptop awake sometimes not, and trying to turn off it I had to remove the battery. Would not even holding down the power button for 20 seconds. While booting after removing the battery, I'd get a system error, 90 b error code fan.

I tried re flashing version 1.07, but returned eventually to version 1.06. This version works very well. It was a real let up to me, given that this laptop costs €1400,- and should be a book reliable business.

Is their another experiecing the same problems? If so, how do fix you it? And no one knows when they will be a stable version of BIOS V1.07?

Use the PC Hardware diagnosis UEFI to restore the previous BIOS so that that you flashed cause questions.

Press the power button and then immediately begin to press the F2 key to evoke the Diagnostics menu.

Choose firmware management. In the menu next, choose and click on revert to the previous version.

You can also create and use the 3-in-1 usb to accomplish the same.

  • I need help to Flash the bios. I have an Aspire 5810TZ. I start and it just says: "acer".

I need help to Flash the bios. I have an Aspire 5810TZ. I start and he just says "acer" and goes no further. I went to the download page for BIOS on us.acer.com and it has a zip file with 5 files:
    JM4151135.exe
    IN FLORIDA...
    GPC_V135.bin
    Readme.txt
    FLASH. BAT
What should I do? I tried to copy the files on a USB key and turn on/off with Fn + ESC key. After the release the power button and pressed Fn - Esc another screen appears after 30 seconds. I gave up and gave her 30 minutes but it does nothing. I read another person that should be flashing power button online. I have to rename one of the files. Help, please!

Aspire 5810TZ menu of frozen startup.

    I finally understand it.

I couldn't start a back b/c drive, it me did not start anything.

I followed this chain of logic:

-Downloaded the bios (2.35 is the one that worked for me)
-Find the exe file in the winflash file.
-Extract the files in archive exe using the 7-Zip program
-Find the .fd file and rename it to JM41X64. FD (I read in a forum was unique in my laptop)
-Copied JM41X64. FD and FLASH it is. EXE on a USB
-A the battery and the hard drive out.
-With its trendy diet I supported Fn + Esc and that you press the power button once while ensuring that the Fn + Esc has been always held down.
-J' waited 6 seconds and release the Fn + Esc and seen the flashing flash player
-After about 10 minutes, restarted the machine and the bios as like new.

Later, I found that there was a hard drive problem.

I want you guys should help more. All I needed was the name of the JM41X64 file. FD and you don't know how many hours I put into trying to find how simpy bios flash. It is not that difficult for someone with a b.s. in computer science to learn how. Couldn't we a m.s. back b/c the bios drive was messed up. F12 didn't work.
