After connecting the e-all-in-one printer HP Officejet 5740 to my HP Pavilion all-in your desktop 23-q110 (Windows 10 operating system), the printer will not work.

  • OfficeJet 5740 e-all-in-one: the printer display shows 'downloading' message despite no web service implemented

I got a new Officejet 5740 e-all-in-one and put in place a few days ago. It is implemented in a router which is also a modem.  I've implemented any web service.  My network is password protected, and I'm the only one on this subject.

A couple of times I arrived in front of the printer and there was a screen that says that there is a current download, and he showed the percent completed. This surprised me because I have not implemented in web services for the printer.

I cancelled the download, both times.  The second time I accidentally typed the screen again.  I don't know what button I hit, but it has printed a message that says that my printer is now web enabled.  He also says that my printer has an email address.

I went into the web installer, and it seemed to me that I had not implemented the web.

    1. what could it possibly download?

    2. If it does not complete a download while I'm not looking for, will there be a record of this?

    Hi @Andrew111,

Thanks for joining the Forums of HP Support for a solution to your printer problem.

I understand that you use a 5740 Officejet from HP printer e-all-in-one with a computer of Windows 7 and you noticed that the screen of the printer said there was a current download, which you surprised because you but you did not set up web services. I would like to help with that.

You mentioned that the printer has its own e-mail address. Web services have been enabled for the printer to have an address of mail @hpeprint.com. It is possible to disable the ePrint and printable HP once the HP Web Services has been enabled.

The download that was underway was probably a printer update, which will come by automatically. Nothing to do with the computer. I don't think there is a record of updates of the printer anywhere.

Please let me know if that answers your question...

  • HP Officejet 5740 e-All-In-One: multiple frustrations with printer e-all-in-one-hp officejet 5740.

I have a HP Officejet 5740-e all-in-one that has all sorts of problems: periodically decides not to print documents from one of my laptops HP or Lenovo.  Do not accept ink cartridges HP Instant ink or HP ink cartridges purchased in a store.  Unable to get decent support for this HP product.  Is essentially a disposable item now?

As far as I know that there is no user replaceable parts in these lower end home use printers. So if nine ink cartridges do not work, and seeing that the cost of the printer is less than $ 100, Yes... it's basically a Jet printer away. Wish I had better news for you.

I try to get an e HP OfficeJet 6600 network all in one to run on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise. I downloaded the package, which is supposed to work on Windows 2008 x 64. The package is called
OJ6600_Basicx64_1315.exe. When I run it it tells me that it is not compatible with my system. I tried to unzip the file (changed the zip extension) but told me that it is not a zip file. Is there a driver for this printer on that server?

    Thank you

I thought about it. I copied the CD to the server and just ran the add printer. Installed just fine.

  • HP Officejet 5740 e-all-in-one: HP digital Fax must be set to record on a GNU/Linux (Debian)?

I used to have a printer of the 8500 series (if I remember correctly) that can be configured from the web interface to save on a standard network share (CIFS/Samba).

Some recent HP with capacity fax printers seem to be able to record in such an action on the network, but the documentation implies that only works on a Windows system with the HP software. It seems that the software configures only a standard Windows share to be accessible on the network.

Can it be set up a GNU/Linux system (NAS, server, etc.) without using Windows at all? How? Is there a shared resource naming convention, working group, etc. ? I can't find any references to this.

Edit: I found the installation steps of filing for my old digital printer, I wonder if there is something similar (or the same) in the user Web interface of the newer printers.

Ultimately I just installed a basic print/scan/copy printer (Envy 4500 series) that complements USB modem-Fax + eFaxGTK well. The only element missing from the old system is direct fax from the printer (now requiring a print + rescan to fax via eFaxGTK) and do not have a document feeder.

Use and OfficeJet pro introduces new problems:

    * Lack of history for faxes sent

    * Don't fax not working from the PC (I'm report a bug on this subject)-Gnu/Linux fax queue was aways "Paused".

    * Fax backend related to HP printer (if the printer fails, no guarantee a new printer will use the same procedures to receive faxes, etc.)

None to retrieve faxes in memory of the printer of Gnu/Linux

    * Address book related to the printer, not accessible/modifiable/Sync with the implementation of HPLIP

It's a shame HPLIP these poor support for these multifunction printers fax

  • HP Officejet 5740 e-all-in-one: HP Deskjet 5740 fax on home WiFi network

I am currently sending faxes using a telephone line (Verizon FIOS). HP has an option or that they are planning to put in place an option to send a FAX using my WiFi line. I know that this is not implemented by any other manufacture of PC printers and most services' require a monthly fee and/or a land line. I am not opposed to a monthly fee since I pay Verizon for my phone line each month. So, is there a way for HP to send a FAX to a telephone number and receive a FAX using my PC (and HP software) both on the internet.

This would save me a lot of money each month, since the amount of FAXES I sent since I bought my current printer is 59 and sent is 52. If I send and receive a FAX 100's a year that would be a lot.

I know that software exist to create a FAX and receive FAX included in Microsoft operating systems (Norton was a years ago which was a stand-alone application). But it seems that the problem is transmitting via the Internet to a phone number.

Smart phones can send information (text messages) to a phone number using only the internet, so I think that it is not difficult to provide functionality. HP currently allows you to send printing by internet on your personal printer. What is the difference with sending a FAX to a printer?

Security issues with Fax require the document printed only and not saved in an editable format. PDF files already that.

What am I missing I, except a reluctance on the part of the printer manufactures enter this company or the resistance of the telephone companies for ground transportation?

FAX lines must use the analog telephone lines.  It's their specification.  The other option you have is eFax to send and receive faxes.

Trying to find the experts today to help me clear a jam paper at the back of my printer.  It is not accessible and the back seems to be sealed, unlike other printers that have a removable back at the factory.  Hope I found the right place.

    Hello

You can access paper jams from the bottom of the printer, instead of the back/rear:

    1. Turn on the printer, if it isn't already on.

  • 5740 HP Officejet printer: HP Officejet 5740 prints all lines of poor quality of black ink, a few lines thru

New printer, getting the veins through every few lines of print black ink

    Hi @Badgermitt,

Thanks for joining the Forums of HP Support for a solution to your printing problem.

I understand that you use a HP Officejet 5740 e-all-in-one printer with a PC of Windows 8 and the printed text has black steaks through every few lines. I would like to help with that.

Black lines through the text is usually due to present an accumulation of debris around of the cartridge that can usually be solved by cleaning cartridges or ink. This can be done in the control panel of the printer.

Cleaning of the cartridges is discussed in this support material designed to be used with this problem - solve print quality problems.

Please let me know if that solves the problem, or if you need assistance.

In fact, if it helps you to find a solution, please click on the 'accept as Solution' and the 'thumbs up' buttons down below in this message.

The problem was that I had the incorrect installation disc. the disc was printer not e-all-in-one HP Officejet 5745 5740.  I thought they may be the same somehow but I can't print until I know if it was the same drive.

    Hello:

When I look at the support page for the driver for your model, it lists the same driver to download.

I guess it covers the entire JO x 574 model series, and I noticed on the drivers of HP printer, which is not uncommon.
