HP Pavilion a1740n HDD likely? problem

I use desktop HP Pavilion a1740n with vista 32 bit

Windows does not start when I turn on, instead, I get a window to start recovery.

I ran everyday for 3 startup recovery, nothing happened.

I ran today HP Diagnostics in the recovery menu (F11).

All memory tests, passed with the exception of shoort SMART self-test, it failed.

The C drive is listed in the start menu.

Is this a hard failure?

If it's a failure, what is the remedy (easy to please)

Thank you

A short self-test S.M.A.R.T. failure, you hear the hard drive has failed or is about to fail. You will need to replace the disk with a new 320 GB or a larger capacity hard drive. You use your HP Recovery discs to restore your computer to a factory State. If you create your personal series of HP recovery discs, please order a set of third-party ComputerSurgeons.com

  • HP Pavilion dv7 second HDD installation problem

    Hello

I recently bought an internal WD7500BPVX 750 GB SATA HDD compatible with my HP Pavilion dv7 - 2030eV to be used as a second hard drive, since I already have a 250 GB HARD drive on the laptop. I also bought a SATA cable which I think is compatible and a caddy for the disc. When I connected the SATA cable and pressed the Start button the laptop powered upwards for about a second and then stop.  I disconnected the SATA cable and left only 250GB driver connected. When I turned on again your laptop booted normally. Once I tried to connect the new HARD drive again the same thing happened. Any ideas what might be happening? I checked two times for parts compatibility before you buy, but I can't rule out it as a cause.

    Hello

This series does not start with two different hard disks. If you want a second hard drive, you need the same 250 GB drive as the original to make it work.

  • HP Pavilion w2216h monitor repeating problems...

Hello, I own a HP Pavilion w2216h monitor. It is the second that I own. The first has almost the same problem as the one I have now... but since it's on the warranty sent me a new. Now, it is up just like the old. I think that there is a fault to underscore with this monitor, but I'm not sure.

The problem with the monitors is almost the same thing.

The first monitor would have distorted color and lines of this violet/red/brown go through it, I don't remember if it was in the vertical or horizontal. It does not matter because it was under warranty and I got this new monitor sent me. Same model.

For the second monitor, the screen gets very white, then slowly goes black. The colours seem to fade and blend each other. If left to run its course, ends with the screen goes black with shades of white and other colors in random places.

    Here's the info...

    HP Pavilion w2216h Monitor

Computer HP Desktop running Windows 7 64-bit edition

Graphics card is a Nvidia Geforce 9800GT

It is connected to the VGA DVI cable. Connecting the monitor to the video card.

Here's what I did and checked so far...

I checked the video card carefully, the drivers are installed and up-to-date. Works well with 2 other monitors different brand and size. There is no overheating of any kind and the DVI connector works very well. So the problem is not with the video card. I checked all the cables! Swapped, cables and tight, raging, then tightened again to make sure.

Recap. The computer is good, the video card is good, the DVI connector is good, the VGA cable is good. This leaves the monitor to blame. Now here's the question is it broken? Or can I fix? Also I'm the only person having this problem? If this isn't the case, please answer, cause I have the impression that it is a recurring problem for many people who own this product. Thank you for your time.

    Hello Rockets1995,

If the screen is white that usually tells me that it is a bad connection. If you are still under warranty then you can start there.

If you are not in the warranty and you want to try an auto repair then you can go that route as well. If you open the monitor there is a small tablecloth that connects the screen to the Board of Directors, this cable is likely in the open air and is not firmly connected.

  • Very slow SSD OCZ Vertex 3 Pavilion MSI MS-7184 problem

    Hi guys, hat

I ve becomes a gift from a friend in the form of a Pavilion Desktop PC.

The first problem is that I don't really know the type of flag of it.

What is certain, is that it is equipped with a

    • Card mother MSI MS-7184
    • 2 GB OF RAM
    • Radeon HD 6570 chart and it has the
    • BIOS version 3.48
    • HP P/N: 5188-3246

This is my second (big) problem with it:

I have buyed an OCZ Vertex 3 SSD, hoping I am going to upgrade and increase my speed to WIN 7 Ultimate. Not my day... it's so slooooow. I tried bothways, that is, copy of the system partition on the new SSD and new installation WIN7 Ultimate on the SSD drive.

I searched on the net on SSD include slow questions and the only things I found were that I have to activate the option to access HDD AHCI in the BIOS, option that I have not in my BIOS.

    All help aprecciated!

    Thank you.

    Hello

Please report the number of HP for the PC product.

Do you know what level of firmware your Vertex 3 is running?   Firmware version 2.22 is the last.  If your firmware is down 2.06, then you need to upgrade gradually.  I would not be to update the firmware if you decide to return the SSD drive. See my information below.

I think that the card mother MSI has only SATA I, which is very slow for a VERTEX 3 allowing to operate at full capacity.  Frankly, I'm surprised that the VERTEX 3 works even on a SATA what should I wear as much SATA III SSD will not work on a SATA I port.  Review this OCZ VERTEX 3 document.

You can see if you can return and exchange for another SSD that is backward compatible with SATA I.  Maybe the Vertex 2 or the agility-2 would be better for your needs.

    Good evening
I have windows 7 ultimate, and I formatted the pc just so that I had to reinstall all drivers.
But I have a problem: I can't find the correct driver for my graphics "AMD Radeon HD 7600 m Series. If I go into Device Manager, I see that the video card, there is a warning message that says: "the device has reported a problem and is no longer supported. (Code 43). "I have a HP Pavilion 2341sl g6.
    Thank you.

    Go to Device Manager.

Click to expand the category graphics cards.

If the driver is correctly installed, you will see both

If you see those, then you are right.  It is not a driver problem.

  • HP Pavilion m4-1001TX: startup problems

Hello! My laptop is a HP Pavilion m4-1001TX. Recently, I updated my Windows laptop, 10 OS. Subsequently, I met problems white screen, which was resolved by resets hard (as suggested by various forums).

A week ago, I met the same problem. However, I tried the suggestions (from hard reset, external LCD screen, BIOS recovery, for re-allocation of places the memory module). Whenever I start it, I can hear the hum of the fan 3 seconds, but then everything is silent. The power button and LED f12 button is down as well.

    Once again, Hello.

So my laptop will not initialize correctly for about a month and a half, which led me to use my tablet.

Anyway, it took me a long time before deciding to disassemble my laptop. Because ultimately, I could so he had repaired, I tried to check his parts. Verification of entrails, the fan is full of dust.

After cleaning, the laptop worked properly. (FINALLY.)

so for you guys, try troubleshooting step by step made by HP. However, if these things didn't work and your laptop is probably a year or two and you haven't cleaned his fan, you might as try though clean it by compressed air or disassembled.

Disassembly, check the code of product in your laptop and search for it on HP Media tab. The research would generate some links, one of them showing a manual on how to disassemble the laptop properly. Follow these steps carefully.

I hope this post helps you on about the start-up problems.

NOTE: Disassembly for me is my last choice, so DO NOT REMOVE IT unless YOU REALLY NEED TO DO IT.

  • Satellite C660-1GK - C HDD partition problem

    Hi all!

I have the Toshiba Satellite C660-1GK for a year and a half. After 6 months, my hard drive is dead.

First the laptop has been really slow, then started the famous clatter of the disc.
I made backup and checked the disk with tools from Hirens. Toshiba diag will read even not she, Smart said that his State of health is bad bad sectors (30% or more), began to burst... I therefore took the laptop to my ASP.

They replaced the disc and then 13 months later (a week ago) the same story! Disk health went even lower (was 11%) and bad sectors initially jumping like crazy.
Once again, a trip to ASP.

I have my laptop today with a new drive. After that reading posts on this forum, I'm afraid that there or card mother/problem of power or we're just all with no luck with readers.

I just, I can't accept that the disks die randomly every 4-12 months to meet. My last drive on HP laptop lasted 4 years! I have about five more months of warranty and I'm really not satisfied with the situation. This laptop is on my desk, it has own station with nice, big fan so this isn't overheating - basically, I took out of the House in September.

I'm careful with it! But if the disk dies before the end of the year, maybe it's time to get a new laptop.
    Toshiba no, this time :(

Please, you have any ideas, advice... ?

    Hello

A few years ago, I bought a laptop from another manufacturer.
My first HARD drive died after over 2 years of use. I bought another, has replaced the old HDD and the new HARD drive died after 4 months of use.

No matter which HARD drive is going to die sooner or later because his part instrumentation it s a question of HARD drive use and the question of how you handle all.

In my opinion it s a bad luck of course sound always pity if a HARD drive starts to malfunction but I m afraid there are not many options to prevent it.
Of course, you can switch to a SSD drive which is stable in use. I did a few months ago, I bought the 250 GB SSD drive and replaced the internal HARD drive

  • HP Pavilion series g hanging problems.

Hi, my name is Thomas Yeo, staying in Malaysia. I am a student. I have a computer in the Pavilion g4 series. Is the product name and number is HP Pavilion g4-1024tx. It uses a Windows 7 system. It is still under warranty. This computer is still facing problems such as crashes. Also, my computer overheating when I'm watching a video on Youtube. When I'm far away form the computer, I have the AC fan, this is because the computer is overheating very quickly. What to do when we face these problems?

  • HP Pavilion Media Center a1610n problem

So I had this problem which started today.

When I booted my PC: HP Pavilion Media Center a1610n - it goes to the startup screen with the HP logo but it remains just there frozen.

Another thing I have noticed is my mouse and keyboard are not powered at all even though they are correctly connected to their respective ports.

I don't know why he acts up like this now. I tried to connect the mouse to another PC and it worked, so there must be something wrong with the HP Pavilion itself.

Wouldn't be the motherboard or some circuit?

Other things to note that I got this PC reformatted all for more than a year with an installation of XP (as he came originally with XP).

Restarted the PC and still has the same issues. CD Player opens, the PC itself is powered and the screen is frozen on the blue screen HP startup. (Shows the menu and controls everything, but can not yet exploited cause there is not going to the keyboard.)

It is possible that a RAM module is either lost contact with the slot, or is defective. Can help with reintegration.

    (1) note what slots are occupied. Remove all the RAM of motherboard. Here's the tech manual. Put 1 module in the slot located near the CPU. According to the chassis, it could have a radiator/fan together.

    (2) unit to retest. Repeat with additional modules.

    (3) any module that tests OK can be reinstalled in appropriate accommodation.

  • Pavilion g6 HDD space very quickly

Hi, I bought a laptop Pavilion g6 a month ago. I love this computer and get used to the new system.

But the only thing that concerns me is that hard drive space is used very quickly. That's scared me, eventhoug I have a 500 GB hard drive, that is 390 GB now. It updates every time feeding on hard disk space.

Since I am new to this, I don't know what to do to stop this. And also, I'm afraid that if I do not have the regular updates of HP my computer will not run as it should.

Can someone help me with this 'problem '.

    Thank you for your response.

Here is a link to the HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC. Please see Chapter 4 for removal and replacement.
