HP Pavilion DM4-1060ea: DM4-1060ea mobo replacement/upgrade

To anyone who may know better,.

I currently have a hp Pavilion dm4-1060ea which by defaul has an i5 430 m, 4 GB ram and 512 ati hd5450 mobile gfx and recently it has been over heating, I've already replaced the cpu fan/radiator and the problem persists, try also running android on the laptop, the cpu fan behaves and not too much heat probably because android doesn't recognize the ati chip, so there for can only be assumed that the mother board/ati chip are defective, to be exact replacement is 608203-001 hp part number, but what i would like to know is can update hp 630713-001, hd6370 512 or hp 630714-001 1 GB hd6370, if badly can I treat myself to an i7 640 m

As in advance for help

George

Yes, you can replace in any motherboard of the dm4-1000 series. The physical form and the anchor points of the motherboards are the same.

Also, is it possible to download a disk image of windows 7 64-bit recovery for this pc, rather than order the CD?

    Hello

The HARD disk that you propose is fine and you can use the following workaround to create an installation disc - you create the installation disk must be the same version of Windows that originally came with your laptop.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the activation code on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

Create an installation disk yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

Additional drivers, you may need can be found here.

  • Replacement of the frame and hinges - HP Pavilion dm4 laptop

I have a HP Pavilion dm4 laptop of 2.5 years. The first hinged on both sides broke that makes it harder for the laptop to close properly and now the frame is breaking apart. Is there a way I can get/buy replacements before other parts are screwed up.

    Thank you

Yes, I also have this problem (dm4-1050ea).

It all started on February 2015, when my aunt noticedv that my laptop was nt close properly.  It could be be made to do by pressing half upper (screen cut) to the front to the rear of the closure.

The hinges then becomes deective that the screen don't would not SOUPLESE nd would not sit just to the place (angle) you open to.

Following the hinges too stiff beame to exploit, came shortly after the left of the screen/lid and the window broke near the LH hinge (rather than though the bezel as shown in the image above). Then the right hinge broke off, then the screen become deective (mainly a band along the LHS - worked with detached hinges OK))

So, I find myself with computer work, not 100% functional & broken and needs special care to use. the screen does not work in all areas (a replacement looks like £30-$50), with the virtually hanging screen, need to rplace lying hinges (£10-$15) and also nees any other bits (?) and the knowledge to fix it.  HP say they can't stand any more of this model and have no theparts (from end of 2015).

It may be beyond the capacity of an almighty ccompany such as HP to find parts, but it does not seem beyond the my ability to get parts of - maybe-2nd hand - other HP broke! - But what I lak is kno detailed ho a skill to perform any repair.

  • Pavilion dm4, replacing hard drive

    So, I have a HP Pavilion dm4 1165 c: windows 7 64 bit, around a Yes and a half old.

A week before, the hard drive suffered a kind of permanent fatal event and quietly left this death spiral.  If you want to know: any type of shoe was impossible.  System recovery could not even see the drive, an external drive could not speak of it, and it crashed to any machine that has tried.  I had to send it to data recovery - they tell me that the reader has hard errors and at least one of the drive heads does not.  They will be able to pick up stuff for me, but the reader is a loss (yes I know, I know - I should have backed up).

So in my opinion it - I have two problems to solve.  1. I need a new hard drive.  2 - I need stuff to put on my hard drive (it came with nothing - I don't have the disc for the operating system, drivers, nothing).  That offer HP which determination of these problems?  How much are these options?  Who should I talk to?  (I tried to call tech support, but there was a bit of a language barrier.  Also, I'm out of warranty, and they want $60 to solve problems before they'll still talk about replacement of hardware and/or software).

    Hello:

You can order a 500 GB hard drive 7 200 to replace your existing one.  You can't go smaller if you want to use recovery disks.

I love this place to order PC hardware.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/ProductList.aspx?submit=Ene&N=100007605%20600030594&IsNodeId=1&BOP=and&order=rating&PageSize=20

I'd go with the first listed, but it is up to you. Look at the reviews and the price and choose the one that suits you best.

You can order HP recovery discs. You will need to call them as the link to the website to order them is broken.  Cost should be less than $20.00

You will need the complete model number of your PC. I do not see a dm4 - 1165dm.  I see a dm4 - 1165dx, and you will need to provide the serial number.

If HP has a set of recovery disc for your PC, you can use this workaround to install W7 on your new HARD drive.

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

  • Replacing the screen for HP Pavilion dm4 2102e0

    Hello.

    A screen 14 '' from a HP PAVILION DM4-2165DX 14.0 WXGA HD worthy fits into my 2102e0 DM4?

Because my broken screen, and I want to buy a new screen to replace the former screen.

The screen I think to buy: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LAPTOP-LCD-SCREEN-FOR-HP-PAVILION-DM4-2165DX-14-0-WXGA-HD-/370981399587?pt=U...

    Thanks in advance.

I'll give the same advice I always give. Remove the screen first and then looking for a replacement. You will tap into a wider pool of parts suppliers and you will be also sure to 100% compatibility. Order based on the machine screen part number not the model number of the laptop. You have to remove the screen eventually anyway. If you need help to remove the old screen let us know.

    Hello

Thousands of questions and answers are on this forum and the answer is simple for laptops, it is very difficult if not impossible to update the video cards (except some models). In this case, the answer is no, you need new card mother, new system of cooling... and the cost can be more expensive to purchase a new machine.

    Kind regards.

I understand that your 500 GB HARD disk is full and you want to install a larger drive and more ram.  Here is a link to HP Pavilion dm4 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service of Guide. Please note Chapter 3, page 24, section 15 modules of memory and point 18 drives for replacements recommended for your system. Please be aware that the maximum memory is 8 GB. (found in Chapter 1, page 2, memory). As a 2 TB drive has not been tested in this model, the result is unknown.  This does not mean that it will not work, only that it is not a walk recommended and not supported by HP.

  • German Pavilion dm4 2033cl Switzerland keyboard

    Hello!

A good friend of mine gave me his old Hp Pavilion dm4 2033cl that he bought in America.

Now, given that I live in Switzerland, my keyboard is completely different. I looked around the Internet, but I can´t find a replacement keyboard with a layout of German Switzerland for this laptop.

Is it possible to adapt another keyboard of laptop´s similar to mine? If Yes, where can I buy it?

    Thank you

    Hello Nelson.

This is the part you need:

Keyboard 608222-BG1 for use in Switzerland

I found this on page 25 of your Maintenance and Service of Guide

On page 47 of the same manual, you will find detailed instructions and pictures on how to replace your keyboard.

You should be able to order this part by visiting HP Partsurfer.

  • HP Pavilion dm4-1024tx Enterta: upgrade to 8 GB of memory and is blue screen problem

Product: HP Pavilion dm4-1024tx Entertainment Notebook PC
    Product number: XC651PA

I have corsair Vengeance ram 8 GB (CMSX8GX3M1A1600C10) that as a result of the configurations as mentioned below:

    SPD 9-9-9-24 latency
    SPD speed 1333 Mhz
    SPD voltage 1.5V
    PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) memo speed

    Tested 1600 Mhz speed
    Tested voltage 1.5V

It passes the test of memory BIOS.

    BIOS VERSION: Hewlett-Packard F.27, 21/12/2011

But when I boot windows 7, it shows the windows symbol and then it shows the blue screen with the error

    STOP: 0X0000007E

If I replace memory corsair with the memory that has been delivered with the laptop the system only works very well.

Corsair memory is not compatible with the system?

I have a dual boot and installed ubuntu on this subject. Ubuntu loads perfectly fine, but after a while the system restarts automatically (IE open application).

I tried memorytest86 to test the memory, but the application continue to crash and reboot and does not provide any results.

    Help, please.

The RAM is not compatible. The system allows a maximum total memory of 8 GB and uses DDR3-1333 which downclocks at 1066 speed. You cannot use a single module of 8 GB. 4 gigs is the large single module supports the system. I suspect the memory that you have will work fine if you had modules of 2 x 4 GB instead of a single module of 8 GB. That's why memtest is not finished. The controller memory motherboard is not able to take up 8 GB of RAM by a single channel.

    Hello:

You should see a device labeled network controller listed under other devices in Device Manager if necessary the driver wireless card.

    There is something wrong.

    1. the wireless card needs the HP Connection Manager software installed so it can be activated by using the software, then you should be able to install the driver or the Terminator post will be installed.

    HP connection manager

    File name: sp54945.exe

    2. the wireless card is bad and must be replaced, or must be removed and reinstalled because of an oxidized connection.

    3. the motherboard is bad.

Also install software quick launch to ensure that all Fn keys work correctly.  There's a chance outside that might be the problem, but I doubt it.
