  A 8 GB module is listed in the manual, and it's a 3rd generation of processor i5 I suspect 2 x 8 = 16 concerts would work, but strictly following the manual your only option is to add a 4 GB for a total of 8. Most users really not more 8 GB and adding a second identical module will allow two-channel operation, so you should see a noticeable jump in the overall performance.

  I have a p7-1254 Pavilion with 8 GB of RAM installed. I thought that perhaps it would be better if I installed 16GB. Then I read the specs of my PC and it says "Supports 8 GB of RAM".

  Why is there a limit?

  This is a hardware limitation of the motherboard chipset, or a limitation of the BIOS that cannot be changed.

  Memory is limited to a certain extent in every PC.

  As PC evolves a day 16 GB will be that 2 GB is now.

  It's very confusing. It seems that HP has copied some info from Intel about the specifications of the chipset and I couldn't make either heads or tails of it on the Intel site.

  Max RAM per slot is 4 GB.

  I installed 16 GB in mine.

  I've updated my laptop HP for Windows - 10 - PRO EDITION (64-bit).
  
  Update went well.

  All the drivers seem to be installed device and work.

  Operating system works very well.

  I'm having a problem with sleep / Hibrernation modes.

  When I close the lid for a few seconds and then reopen the lid the laptop does not wake up.

  When the computer goes to sleep it seems to go in hibernation. Even though I disabled the hibernation in the power of the system settings.

  When I press a key on the keyboard of the laptop won't wake up.

  It will not wake up from sleep or hibernation mode.

  I need to power cycle the notebook to log in Notepad.

  My laptop (HP 15.6 "15r011dx with the baytrail-M Intel Pentium platform) works very well with Windows-10 and wake up very well to the mode sleep and extended. So, I know what present works with Windows-10.

  How can I fix?

  Do I need to install other drivers/software?

  This feature is not supported on this HP laptop?

  have an old Compaq Presario SR1200NX, I want to upgrade. The hp website says that the max ram for this device is 1 GB (2x512mb), but all the stores online claim that the max is 2GB (2x1gb).   Both the HP motherboard specifications and the specifications indicate 1 GB maximum. You can take a chance on two dimms of 1 GB by train but understand the return policy before you buy.
