Hi Erico

I tried this, and unfortunately the rift remains the same. Grrr

Concerning

If with removed disk and memory test and batt RTC removed from testing without any positive result.

Which would indicate the end of the troubleshooting.  Troubleshooting the result is the replacement of the system board to return laptop in normal operation.

Official website of HP I can't find versions of Bios for Pavilion DV5000.

Are there more recent official HP BIOS versions for this laptop?

Yes, that's right, and you can update the BIOS if you use XP.

As long as you Flash the BIOS with the XP operating system, you should be OK, but I can't guarantee it 100%.

    I don't have dual-boot my PC.

    Hello:

See if this driver gets it for you. The hardware ID is vague. Only reports a Bus SM ATI controller.

  • BIOS question Pavilion dv5000

It's the bios a partition on the hard drive on my Pavilion dv5000 and if yes anyone knows what size is?

    Thanx

    Hello:

Do you mean a recovery partition?

The BIOS is not on the hard disk. It's on a ROM chip that is soldered to the motherboard.

I don't know what size would be a recovery partition. They vary depending on what operating system has been installed and the number of channels came with this specific model PC.

We can expect a recovery partion range 4 to 10 GB.

  • I have a HP Pavilion dv5000 notebook computer XP (2006 Vintage). I'm having a problem getting my external microphone to work.

The microphone works on my other laptop so I know it's good. I entered in the control panel and did all the standard tricks without success. The same microphone works well with Skype on my other HP Pavilion dv5000 XP using the old driver. Maybe I'm missing something?

    Hello

    ·        Is the microphone is detected on the computer problem?

    Method 1:

You can update the drivers for sound card for the computer manufacturer and check if that helps.

    Method 2:

Also run the fix in the below article data and check if this is useful.

  • Pavilion dv5000 / reinstall Windows XP drivers

I have a Pavilion dv5000 with an AMD processor. I had to reformat the hard drive and replace the motherboard and am now trying to reinstall the OS XP Media Center Edition 2005 and other basic functions.

After having staggered on and staggering forward (with a lot of web search, reading forums, trials and errors, download, fruitless efforts of installation, some successful steps, etc.). I'm now at this stage:

In Device Manager, everything is gone except for: 1) mass storage controller; and (2) SM Bus controller. He was much more problematic, but through the help of my dvd of the OS or the Internet to research and download I was able to address them individually. However, for these two I'm still confused on where and what drivers to install - they will be not installed through the wizard to update hardware ("hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software"), and I'm not sure advice from the forums.

I am now looking to service page the customer of HP Driver & Software Downloads - HP Pavilion dv5000 CTO Notebook , but with differing specifications and formulations, I can't understand that, if necessary, download driver would fix my problems.

    Any tips or suggestions?

    Hello:

First try these drivers and if they do not work, click on each device missing from Device Manager. Then click on the Details tab after the first string you see. Those who identify the manufacturer of the device and the device type and model.

With this info, I can try and find the right drivers for these devices.

SM Bus controller, I think needs chipset driver:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/WC/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-38902-1&LC=en&DLC=en&CC=US&OS=228&Product=1838962&sw_lang=

The other missing device is probably your card reader:

Once again, if they do not, post the details device ID and I'll look even more.

Hello, I need a driver updated for the mass on my dv5000 storage controller but can't seem to find the drivers for the dv5000 at all...

Any idea where I can find them?

    Thank you

    Hello:

You can use the Vista drivers page to support your laptop for W7, except the BIOS and firmware files.

You need this driver for the mass storage controller (card reader).

  • need XP SATA drivers for Pavilion dv5000

    Hello

Try to install XP on a DV5000 and I need SATA drivers that I can put on a CD, if I can use the F6 (additional drivers)

    XP installation process.

    Thanx

    Hello:

If you have a processor intel, you will need to download the drivers from the link below. Select the second download link for XP 32-bit.

    http://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?AGR=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=20625&keyword=F6&lang=eng

I don't think you can use a CD. I think they must be placed on a USB FDD, but if you know that they will appear on a CD when you hit the F6 key, go ahead.

The pilot, you need to scroll using the Up/down keys and then select is the Intel(r) ICH7M/MDH SATA AHCI Controller.

  • Maxtor external USB One Touch Mini III and HP Pavilion dv5000 series with Windows 7 Ultimate

    Hello

I use Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 and I have HP Pavilion dv5191ea LT. I tried to connect an external Maxtor USB One Touch mini III hard drive and he would not recognize the disc. It's boring. I tried my best to find a solution, but I'm still without a clue. Anyone here who can help me? I would like help or the online guide that anyone of you can offer. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

    Danny

No XP is not installed, but it was installed before W7. Anyway, I solved the problem. The asnwer is that all Maxtor mini III One touch external USB key comes with software that allows you to encrypt disks require a password to open the disc. If the password is enabled when you close the last time, then this will bypass the detection of the drive in disk management. You open the disc in an XP environment and hell security as it does not work in W7. After you do this, the disk is available in W7. This site has been a great help:

  • unexpected shutdown of Pavilion dv5000 without powering down

I have a HP Pavilion dv5020us Notebook PC running Windows XP with SP3.  For about two weeks now, I had an intermittent problem in which my laptop monitor turns off unexpectedly. Indicators of power never go out, the dvd tray still opens and closes (with HARD drive activity) and I can say that the monitor is always to some extent, because when I power down (which I do by pressing the power button for 10 seconds), I can see the screen go a milky gray dark to true black.  I did not open the laptop still to check dust/heat problems: I am quite technically savvy but am nervous about the process of openeing it, in addition to invalidate any potential warranty which still exists... This computer was at the time of the virus but I've been on it again and again with several stand-alone analyzers and I was pretty happy with Windows Live OneCare, I'm sure I'm clean, but there may be some particularly nasty virus that can do this, (IE a kind of worm?).  Thank you, Eric

  • Computer HP Pavilion DV5000 laptop will not turn on or off

This laptop is used every day and worked perfectly until this morning.

I have attached the power cable and it works, but the screen remains blank. All lights normal power along the upper part of the keyboard are light, but that's all. The blue light along the front flashes.

When I try to turn off the power by pressing the power button, nothing happens. The lighting and the computer does not turn off.

Oddly, when I unplug the power cord, fires off - but only then.

I tried to boot from the DVD drive without result.

Any help would be very appreciated to get my laptop running and upward.

In the absence of any other advice or suggestions, I decided to try to clear the CMOS memory. In the process, I discovered that the RTC battery was bad, so I replaced it with a battery in good condition and Hey Presto! -l' computer is now back up and functioning normally. Happy days!
