unexpected shutdown of Pavilion dv5000 without powering down

I have a HP Pavilion dv5020us Notebook PC running Windows XP with SP3.  For about two weeks now, I had an intermittent problem in which my laptop monitor turns off unexpectedly. Indicators of power never go out, the dvd tray still opens and closes (with HARD drive activity) and I can say that the monitor is always to some extent, because when I power down (which I do by pressing the power button for 10 seconds), I can see the screen go a milky gray dark to true black.  I did not open the laptop still to check dust/heat problems: I am quite technically savvy but am nervous about the process of openeing it, in addition to invalidate any potential warranty which still exists... This computer was at the time of the virus but I've been on it again and again with several stand-alone analyzers and I was pretty happy with Windows Live OneCare, I'm sure I'm clean, but there may be some particularly nasty virus that can do this, (IE a kind of worm?).  Thank you, Eric

These accidents were related to the corruption of memory (probably caused by a driver).

Run these two tests to check your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.  Launch auditor.  You need not run memtest again unless you want to.

If you are overclocking anything reset by default before running these tests.

Have had problems since 31/12/09.  Tech replaced Dell hard drive 14/01/10 because all software solutions did not resolve various problems, including the screen black and white letters indicating the mode without failure, or count down the regular opening.  System Restore has used several times, all software removed and replaced.  New Quickbooks reinstalled two times 10, it usually starts up quickly.  I was told not to turn it off, just let it run.  It automatically goes into sleep mode, it still does not start correctly.  Last message is that Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown;  Windows can check online for a solution to the problem.  Problem event name: bluescreen

A couple of things that may be a coincidence or cause?

    (1) I have to connect the internet access where I was this weekend. He keeps having limited access to the network, while other computers can connect.

    (2) the symantec anti virus trial the day ended, it started.

    (3) I use a lot of web storage services (google drive, skydrive) and maybe they're trying to connect when I shut down the computer?

    (4) when it is closed and I unplug the charger, the charge indicator light on the outside remains lit out for some reason any. Don't know if that is related but it shouldn't behave like that my understanding of the computer.

If anyone can help me, I would be very grateful!

    Best,

    ER

    Hi all

What the matter was, it has since resolved itself. I think it is the anti-virus software. MSE installing fixed. See you soon!

Pavilion dv6t 6100 powers off after 2 or 3 seconds. Tried to remove the adapter sector and battery by holding down the power button / stop for 1 minute. removed the HARD drive and installed in a laptop computer and the disk is fine.  I ran memory diags tested good.

Laptop costs $1,000. and 2 years. Also changed the battery cmos. any help would be appreciated.

    Cooked,

I understand that this laptop you will not.

Clean the vents with a can of compressed air to ensure that there is no accumulation of dust inside the system.

If the laptop left on long enough, you should load default BIOS.

You turn on the laptop, press the F10 key.

Once the BIOS load press F9 to load default values and F10 to save and exit.

I would like to know how everything goes.

  • SRM failover real without bringing down production

Hi all, I'm under ESX 3.5 U5 and SRM 1.0 Update1. I did a few tests SRM and they all go well. We now have a real failover on our site of DR. The DR site is completely separate from production. The only difference in this real shift is that we will use it as a test, but we do not want RS to stop the virtual machines in the protected area; My question is: can we the power down the protected site of Virtual Center, so there is no communication between the protected site of VC and VC site recovery and avoid powering down of the protected virtual machines? What we have done and has worked in the past is a firewall on the environment of production completely and the VC of recovery site is therefore not able to communicate to the protected site VC and eventually do not power off the coast of the VM protected in production.

What we're trying to accomplish is to have our failure on VMs in DR communicate with other servers physical and material on the site of DR (completely isolated from production). Unless we can test RS, but instead of creating the network of bubbles recovered virtual computers have access to the DR test so they can access all devices in the vLAN Dr.

Any input will be greatly appreciated. I always read about how to configure the vSwitch to connect Dr. vLAN and see if that meets our needs.

    Thank you

    Hello

I'm sure that if protected vCenter is interrupted during failover, VMs will not stop, cause SRM server do not communicate directly, all communication goes through vCenter servers. The stage of 'Shutdown VMs' expires.

I do not understand completely the second part of your post (on the connection to DR VLAN). Why you want to achieve and in which situation (test / real failover)?

    Michael.

  • Unexpected shutdown of Windows (blue screen)

New installation of all-in-one Photosmart 6510 seemed to go fine (try USB first, since will have the ability to scan).  A page prints fine, but something about the synthesis immediately after (some final development communication, or maybe even the 'Rewards' popup?) causes the unexpected shutdown of Windows with the blue screen.  No further assistance was suggested by Windows.  No errors were detected by the doctor printer hp application that I downloaded.

    Hello

First - just for your information, you can also scan using the wireless connection.

If you have a new PC, maybe you have a USB 3.0 on this subject?

If so, be sure to plug the printer into the USB 2.0 port as the HP device does not support the connection USB3.
