  Hello, my laptop (pavilion dv6 1255-EA portable entertainment I bought 6 years with core 2 due processor, 4 GB ram, 500 GB HDD and AMD catalyst HD 1 GB graphics card) is running a bit slow so I however get a new ssd and / or more than ram would make it faster, I currently have 4 GB of ram and 500 GB hard drive installed in my laptop and I was woundering what are those that I can?   I came across your post on the HP Pavilion dv6 - 1255ee Entertainment Notebook and eager to replace the hard drive of 9.5 mm or increase the RAM. Even if it could adapt to the Notebook ok. Queues screws could be different. Here is a link to your service manual page 69 for the hard card. I would really check this before buying new HARD drive. You may need to change so it does not move. The 500 GB SATA 6 GB/s SSD internal SSD 2.5 "would work for this model of laptop including that you have an AMD System.

  This laptop supports up to 8 GB memory system DDR2, 800 MHz, PC2-6400, page 1-DIMM 32 of the manual above.

  My laptop as spec below:

  HP Pavilion DV6 - product number: LN346PA

  2 GHz intel i7 2630QM

  8GB RAM - added an another slot of 4 GB of RAM

  AMD Radeon HD 6770 M (1 GB of DDR5 memory) - stock GPU

  750 GB SATA (5400 RPM)

  I checked online, the AMD Radeon HD 6770 M GPUS have a MXM-3. 0 to slot. Appreciate if you can give advice if this laptop GPU use MXM - 3. 0 has slot or it is soldered to the motherboard. As the CPU for this laptop is able to do what I need, I just intend to upgrade the GPU so that I do graphics work that must be one more spec to the GPU, rather than buying a new workstation (which will be more expensive than upgrading the GPU).

  Maintenance and Service Guide lists every mother/System Board for each model of videocard (on page 85). This means that the video card is welded to the motherborad. Therefore, you must buy the whole and it may cost much more than your thinking.

• Question on Pavilion DV6-2140EF memory upgrade

  I tried to replace my 2 * 2GB memory modules by modules of 2 * 4 GB on my Pavilion DV6-2140EF

  The maintenance manual mentioned that each module of memory should be 4096-MB, 1066 MHz DDR-3 DIMM (part number 579155-001)

  It supports the total system memory of 8192 MB (4096 MB x 2, dual-channel).

  I bought these two 4 GB modules:

  Corsair RAM DDR3 up to 1066 CL9 Kit2 COR

  But it did not work. Windows 7 64 bit Pro could not start, even if the memory of 8 GB was visible through the BIOS and test memory BIOS was ADOPTED. I tried with a single 4GB module and I had the same problem. When I handed the older modules, it worked good gain.

  Now, I am planning to buy these modules:

  Crucial 8GB Kit (4GBx2) 204-pin PC3-8500 DDR3 SODIMM, Unbuffered, CL = 7, NON ECC, DDR3-1066, 1.5V, 512Meg x 64

  Would this work better?

  IM intend to update my RAM but im confused as to which is the maximum of RAM my system can support. on the following link, it says 8GB: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-dv6-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/5191856/model/5... but when I check the manual it says 16 GB: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03099531 is - this my system supports 8 GB by memory (8 GB + 8 GB) maximum or (4 + 4 GB)?

  I searched for compatible memory of 8 GB module using the part number 634091-001 of the manual and I have not had any trouble to find. See my search at the ADDRESS below.

  You can use all the Core i3 and Core i5 processors, all are the first generation of Intel. The guide lists the Core i7 processors, but your graphics card fits only two boards compatible dual core. You get one compatible Board upgraded to one of the Core i7 quad core processors.

  No, this site is for one purpose (wifi). It has no connection with the screen so there is no way to install any type of videocard in there, and even if there were this is equivalent to a pci - e slot 1 x is unable to transport sufficient bandwidth to where quality would exceed the original video card in the laptop. I think that these berries external videocard for laptops are modern snake oil.
