Pavilion DV6 6001tx: GPU upgrade on DV6 6001tx

Hello

My laptop as spec below:

HP Pavilion DV6 - product number: LN346PA

2 GHz intel i7 2630QM

8GB RAM - added an another slot of 4 GB of RAM

AMD Radeon HD 6770 M (1 GB of DDR5 memory) - stock GPU

750 GB SATA (5400 RPM)

I checked online, the AMD Radeon HD 6770 M GPUS have a MXM-3. 0 to slot. Appreciate if you can give advice if this laptop GPU use MXM - 3. 0 has slot or it is soldered to the motherboard. As the CPU for this laptop is able to do what I need, I just intend to upgrade the GPU so that I do graphics work that must be one more spec to the GPU, rather than buying a new workstation (which will be more expensive than upgrading the GPU).

Thank you in advance.

Hello

Maintenance and Service Guide lists every mother/System Board for each model of videocard (on page 85). This means that the video card is welded to the motherborad. Therefore, you must buy the whole and it may cost much more than your thinking.

  • HP Pavilion 500-141ea: GPU upgrade

    Hi all

I'm new here, but hid for some time in the run up to the upgrade of my GPU.

I am owner of a pavilion of 500-141 ea - spec/details here: here.

I have had it for awhile now and have made a few casual games on it (Euro Truck Sim2) - it's OK at best, I am looking to upgrade the GPU to something a little better to improve the graphics. After absorbing as much information as possible on these forums, I discovered I obviously need a new graphics card, and as my current diet is valued at 300W, it would be best to stick to a moment PSU.

Now, I've been watching the 960 GTX that seems a fantastic card but, for what I'm doing, I'm not sure if it's exaggerated.

I turned to the GTX 750Ti after I've seen recommended by so many people. Including who I've been watching is the Asus version. Link. Looks like a solid GPU and fantastic value for money. I did some measure inside my case and think it "should" adapt, but as I am a novice I'm not sure, he would not blame on what whether 100%. It is the main thing that concerns me.

For a power supply I was watching a CX500 Corsair, which should be more than enough for my needs at the moment. Looking at the ASUS card especially need a 6 pin directly from the power supply (from what I've read).

I also read on UEFI/BIOS/settings issues so I'm ready for it to come when I update the map, but I'll post if I have a problem.

So, I'm sorry for the essay, but I guess I want to know if anyone knows if the ASUS card would be and if the Corsair would be a good diet to use.

Thanks for reading / your answers.

    Chris.

    CGD1, welcome to the forum.

We do not mind trials because they give us the information we need to make good decisions.

Here is the map of Newegg.  Normally, the thing that worries me cards dual fan is the length.  You want the card to fit and have lots of space for good air circulation.  This card is the perfect length.  Read the reviews to see what users have to say about it.  I also like the EVGA cards.  They have great Tech support.

I love Corsair products.  The PSU you chose should work great.  The map in my link only requires 6-power connector additional.

  • Pavilion p6-2422el: Pavilion p6-2422el GPU upgrade

    Hello
I recently decided to upgrade the Nvidia Geforce gt630 supplied with the pc. After a little research I ' ve found the 750 gtx or 750ti cards and I would like to know if they are compatible with my system. If you have any suggestions for the best graphics cards please tell me. Sorry for the bad English.

PS. I looked on data sheets HP and idk why but my pc has a different cpu (i5-3330)

    Hi there @Francesco55,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!  I understand that you look at upgrading the graphics card in your computer.  I'm happy to help you with this.

Looking at the HP Pavilion p6-2422el product specifications desktop PC and HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - specifications of the motherboard, H-Joshua-H61-Μatx (Joshua), your system has the following:

    300W internal power supply (100V-240V)

    A PCI Express x 16 (Gen2.0)
    Three PCI Express x 1 (Gen2.0) connectors
    A PCI Express x 1 Mini card

Any card you're looking at would be necessary to act within these limits.

Looking at the: GeForce GTX 750 Ti spécifications

    Minimum configuration of power (W) 300 W

Support for the PCI Express 3.0 bus

And: the GeForce GTX 750 specifications

    Minimum configuration of power (W) 300 W

Support for the PCI Express 3.0 bus

Neither the map shows a requirement for a secondary power supply, but both require a minimum of a 300W power supply. You can install a power of higher capacity to exceed this requirement and avoid potential problems.

Please let me know if it works for you and if it does not solve your problem, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

  • HP Pavilion 500-002ec: the HP Pavilion 500-002ec gpu upgrade

    Hello.

I have a HP Pavilion 500-002ec pc and I want to replace the pre-installed gpu (Radeon HD 8570). I was looking at GTX950 and I have a few questions. I need more power for her? If so, how much more? And it is even compatible with current pc? Thanks for your replies.

    Hello

If do the 950 GTX specific and model does not require a 6-pin auxiliary power connector then it should work. However, most of the GTX 950 require an auxiliary power connector 6-pin and the HP 300 watt standard power supply in your PC doesn't have that connector.  You would be obliged to replace the power supply or try the NVIDIA GTX 750.

If you decide to stay with the GTX950 then I suggest you one of the following blocks that will give you a bit of room to develop and/or use a graphics card more large: Corsair CX500, CX600 or CX650m

Be sure to measure to ensure that the graphics card fits will fit inside.

  • Pavilion 500-138eo: GPU upgrade

I intend to move the graphics card in my Pavilion 500-138eo Nvidia Geforce GTX 960 or 970 and upgrade the PSU to fit to the requirements of the new graphics card. The motherboard (Memphis-s) and the case does support these cards as they are cards double-width, and what diet do you recommend? The current graphics card is a Geforce GTX 645 with 2 GB of VRAM, twice more than the Nvidia reference design.

    Specifications of the computer: http://support.hp.com/ie-en/document/c03991377

    Hi there @apanpapan3

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, so many other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that you are looking for information for upgrading the video card and the power supply to your computer. I'm happy to help you with this.

Looking at the two video cards that you are considering, the 960 requires that a minimum of 400 w of power and the 970 requires a minimum of 970 w. The two cards are double-width, but the 970 is a little longer. Both use PCI Express 3.0.

The system has however a 300W power supply, then of course you will need to level it and don't forget the replacement of the power supply has the necessary extra power connections, 1 or 2 6-pin connections must be available depending on the card.

The current internal power supply also has the following additional parameters:

    • Form factor: ATX internal
  • HP Pavilion dv6 5CH1342RW4: maximum capacity of RAM and GPU compatible

    I have a HP Pavilion dv6 5CH1342RW4 laptop computer Intel Core i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20 GHz.

What is the maximum RAM of my laptop? It came with 6 GB (2 GB SODIMM ELPIDA 1333 MHz
4 GB SODIMM Micron), now I want to upgrade.  It will be up to 8GB, 16 GB, or even?

And on my his AMD Radeon HD M 7400 gpu. I would also like to update in a more advanced gpu. What are the compatible gpu for my laptop?

Hope to here from you soon guys. Thank you!

8 GB (2 x 4 GB modules) is your maximum memory and there is no way to upgrade the GPU. It is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be removed or replaced. The numbers you supply are not portable or product model number we would need for more specific information. There may be another motherboard that you could install which would have slightly better graphics, but it would be, at best, a slight improvement for a significant cost and hassle.

can I switch from ram to my labtop hp pavilion dv6-6199ee from 8g to 16g?

    Hello

The following link shows its specifications:

It says clearly: expandable up to 8 GB of DDR3 memory (means 8GB max).

But the maintenance and Service Guide says, it uses Intel processor (CPU) for this purpose, you can upgrade to 16 GB (page 5):

  • HP Pavilion DV6-6169se: the HP Pavilion DV6-6169se upgrade

    Hello

I have HP Pavilion DV6-6169se, and I'm looking to update.

Can I know what is the available upgrade options?

    Thank you.

    Hello

    Since the following specifications:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02866520

    My suggestions (using this order):

    1. RAM: you can go to 8 GB, this will improve a bit.  Please use the following site to scan your machine. It will tell you exactly what you need and where to buy, or you can also use the information to buy elsewhere:

    http://www.crucial.com/USA/en/systemscanner

2 replace the HDD with a SSD: you can see many improvements during startup, downtime, open applications and save files. If you run applications that require a lot of Scriptures, SDD is much faster than the HARD disk.

3 CPU: upgrade CPU on laptops is a delicate issue. Please check the list before I go buy. The first manual on the following list a unelistede CPU is supported:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us & LC = in & Product = 5116493

    Good luck.

    Manual

There are several faster processors (i7) listed, but you can't use them because of the motherboard. There is a different motherboard for dual processors and quad core and you already have the fastest dual core that is compatible, so you're at the top of the curve without upgrade potential.
