HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC: HP Pavilion Dv6 Graphics Card Upgrade help

Hello

I wanted to update GFX card my PC for a long time and comes to learn that it IS indeed possible to upgrade, but if the map is too powerful I have to upgrade everything else as well.

I have never tried upgrading a PC before, but my dv6 has a GeForce GT 320 M card GPU and I would pass because I want to play games without having a large amount of offset.

Is it possible for me to move on a GPU higher without having to replace everything inside my computer?

And which of these cards that I would be able to upgrade to? (again, I am very new to this): http://www.geforce.com/hardware

Thanks for listening

What is your exact model laptop? You use an external video card because I still don't know any HP dv6 model that uses the GT 320 M chip video but ready to be proven wrong. Insofar as this former post @banhien what he said, it's that you can't play the video without having to replace the motherboard.

I corrected the dv6-2000 series uses these video chips:

Discrete graphics graphic subsystem memory: nVidia ■ N10M-GE with 512 MB of memory dedicated nVidia N10P-GE with 1 GB dedicated memory ■

Those who are in fact the video GT250M apparently, but I found some old posts on the internet where HP is a dv6-2000 series Maybe the dv6-2160? who had 320M chip.

You can not pass yet really I'm sorry to say.

Thank you for your time and your consideration.

Salko, to play the games you mentioned, you'll need a good mid-level video card.  I like XFX, BFG, EVGA, Sapphire and PNY in that order.  The main thing to check is the length of the card.  The newer cards are 10 "or more may not correspond to the expected location.  With a power supply that is at least 500W, you assign choices.

The Antec PSU should be fine.  However, I love OCZ and Corsair PSU for a higher power clean and stable.  They are the two manufacturers PSU enthusiast/gamer.  Check Newegg for a PSU that assign customers (read) and is rated at least 4 eggs.  It is a good indicator of the quality of the product of those who use it.

OK, so I have a desktop HP Pavilion p7-1030, and the graphics card is crap, I need to update something much better.

I know that I'll probably need a new power supply too, if anyone knows a good combo?

Also, where can I find the old graphics card and POWER supply in order to remove and replace?

I'm playing BF3, so it must be good.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Zxcvbnm0, welcome to the forum.

According to the specifications of the computer, there is only the embedded video.  It is integrated in the motherboard, so you cannot remove it.  It will be automatically disabled when a discreet card is installed.  Integrated video is never good for video intensive games or other programs.

I like Corsair and OCZ PSU.  I recommend at least 500W.  This will give you more choices of video cards.  You must measure the current PSU and compare the measurements to the one you choose.  Normally, I buy my parts from Newegg.

Here is an example of a good food:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16817139028

I like the graphics cards XFX, EVGA, Sapphire and PNY in that order.  I recommend you to stay at 9 "long or less.  This ensures that it will not go in the space provided.

Here is an example of a video card that should work:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16814150561

The PSU is where the power cord is connected.  If you do upgrades, it will help mark the wires of the PSU to make sure that you connect them correctly.  The connectors of the motherboard must be labelled, and more, the wires on the new power supply.

Hi, I want to update my system with a card MSI GTS250. This card fits inside the case? I must it upgrade my power supply as there only about 380 watt of power? I have already installed another hard drive to 500 GB inside.

    Thank you.

Rizelmine, the GTS 250 requires power 450W.  So then he can if adapt (go to the Web site of the manufacturer for the map measures), you must upgrade the PSU.  I suggest OCZ or Corsair products.  They are very high quality and provide a stable, clean your computer power.

    Hello

Basically, you can, with a cost, and I think that this cost can be more expensive than buying a new computer because you have to take into account:

    • New price of the card, and WHERE you can buy it because the laptop cards are not the same office maps. You can't buy any normal store,
    • Need new card system (certainly),
    • Need new system of cooling because in general more powerful card pumps out more heat (you want more powerful card don't you?).
    • May need new power supply because your current diet is not suitbale for the card. (I ordered a machine with the Nvidia card and I need to order a 90W charger at the same time, not the normal charger 65W. They rejected just my order.)
    • Cost of the work.
    • Packages a lot, a lot of aspirin.

    I hope this helps.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6c53cl Graphics Card Upgrade!

Is Hello possible that I can replace and update the graphics card for my HP Pavilion dv6-6c53cl? I would like to play some of the newer games on the market, but the graphics card seems to be holding back me. If it's not a way I can replace it, is there a way to make this point without physically replacing the part?

    Hello

No, you can't, "Intel HD Graphics 3000" is welded to the otherboard. In fact, you can change the video card on almost all laptops.

    Kind regards.

  • Reformat & update the Dv6 graphics card

Product name number & -laptop HP Pavilion Dv6 vl072ea #ABU

    Operating system - Windows 7, 64-bit

My problem and query - I had problems to play movies online with only the graphics, freezing and cracking. The CPU usage is just 100%. I have to play the movie in a small window of a lot. This happens randomly and very little work but sometimes there is no problem. I used to play games and the FPS was still very low and sometimes unplayable. It has deteriorated significantly. I would like to update the graphics if possible and I was wondering if someone could tell me if it is?

Another query apart from this, is that my laptop gets slower with the same start-up and stop, is it easy and advised to reformat? I ever reformatted a computer, but I can follow directions well.
    Thanks for your time!

    Hey Chris,

Unfortunately, you cannot update the graphics card on this laptop. Your best bet is to adjust the settings in the games that you play until you capturing better framerates.

When you say "reformat", I assume that you want to restore the default settings on the system; to pretend like it was when you bought it. It is advisable to do if you have a lot of programs installed, or having software problems. This will make just as clean as it was when you bought it.

It is easy to do. Here are some instructions: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00006110

Just turn off the computer completely (stopped), then put it back in and immediately after pressing the power button, press the F11 key. After a few moments, you should see the System Recovery Manager. Follow the instructions on the screen to reformat and restore to a new State. If you cannot run the Recovery Manager, it is possible that it has been deleted somehow, and in this case, you need to get the recovery disks. You can get records by ordering them online ( http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07143) or by calling HP (800-474-6836)

    Hello:

There is no graphics "card" in your notebook.

The GPU is soldered to the motherboard.

Replacing the motherboard by a likely to have better graphics not only would be very labor intensive, it cost more to buy an equivalent model with better graphics.

No, the GTX 950 requires UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  HP didn't start using UEFI until mid-October 2012.  There is no way to update the motherboard in the UEFI.  Latest video cards do not for UEFI were the GTX 660/670.  I suggest that you choose a manufacturer and contact their Technical Support to help them choose the best card for your system.

You will also need to upgrade the power supply (PSU).  It is only 300W.  Most newer cards require at least 400W to work properly.  Although status map specifications at least 300 w, members reported that they had at least to 400W.

  • Uprading my HP PAVILION a6550in graphics card

    I use HP Pavilion a6550in with Win7 64 bit Ultimate SP1 and 4 GB of DDR2 RAM.

I want to upgrade my graphics card Nvidia GeForce 9300 GE is too outdated.
Can you tell me what all Nvidia graphics cards are compatible with my system based on

    (1) size (most graphics cards are too long for this cabinet)

    (2) memory (I use ddr2 ram and I don't know if I can use gddr3 or higher graphics card with this system)

    (3) the interface on the motherboard as it is only 1 PCI Express x 16 graphics card slot. So I have to replace my graphics card rather than adding to my system using sli interface between graphics cards.

    (4) the PSU is 250W, so I'll have to replace it in order to support graphics cards consume more power.

    (5) budget, cards well within Rs 10 000 /-without compromisg on performance.

I've selected Nvidia GeForce GT 240, but would be happy if there are maps better than this.

    Thanking you in advance

  • Good graphics card upgrade for HP Pavilion p7-1534?

    Hello

I just got a new HP Pavilion p7-1534 for my birthday. I want to update my graphics card because I'm a big gamer, but I don't know where to start. What are some cards compatible with this system? It would be nice to be able to get one that will run the new generation games (ex: 4 Battlefield http://bf4central.com/battlefield-4-system-requirements/) heating maximum without having to upgrade my power supply, but if not, that's okay, I'd like to see some cards at both ends of the spectrum (those who will AND will not require an upgrade to the PSU).

    Thank you for your time,

    -J

Jay, welcome to the forum and the happy birthday late.  Congratulations on your new computer.

The power supply unit (PSU) in your computer is 300W.  Most new mid-level video cards require at least 400W to work properly.  Any card that will work with the 300W PSU will be much better than the integrated video.  The games that you want to read will not perform just the way you expect.

I like the OCZ and Corsair PSU.  They will provide clean and stable power for your system.  I recommend at least 500W; 550W at 600W is even better.  You can buy one of these brands for less than $100.  Both in the links I provided would do a very good job.  If you decide to buy one of them, please read all of the reviews.

Here's a map that would work very well for what you want it to do.  Read the reviews to see what users have to say about it.  Of course, we should upgrade the power supply.
