  Hi all

  Yesterday I tried to use my laptop, how it froze and I had to force him to stop. After several vain attempts to put it on again, it gave me the error message that it held no boot device.

  Research on the HP site, I saw that they recommend a hard reset, which I did. However, now when I turn on the laptop he asks me to install an operating system.

  I have a repair disc, but I have no image system for my own laptop that I can use for the restoration (I backed up my files). I tried to use my brother's laptop system image (we have the same model), but my laptop it would not recognize external hard disk on which it is registered.

  Does anyone know how I could get my OS back without buying a new installation disc?

  Additional info in the case, it is relevant:

  Laptop was purchased in summer 2012

  Upgrade to Windows 7-summer 10 2015

  Have had no problems with Windows 10 so far

  So you have a backup of your personal data, I wouldn't worry about retaining the existing partitions and just convert the reader into a guid partition table - recovery won't work anyway after a clean install, system will be replaced by efi and HP_TOOLS can only be downloaded again.

  If the existing HARD disk has a mbr partition style, you can convert this to a table of partition guid (gpt) as follows.

  Open an command prompt- Option 1

  Enter the following information, hit return after each entry.

  DiskPart

  list disk

  Assuming that there is only 1 HDD installed then enter

  Select disk 0

  clean

  convert a GPT

  When did the type exit and press to enter.

  Re-run the installation of Windows 10.
