  Last week, I received two HP Pavilion dv7-4190us laptops from Amazon. Both had the same problem: the buttons on the touchpad do not work. If you hit one of them, the result is the same if you hit the main part of the pad. Affecting the buttons in a particular function does not work. I checked in the Information System, which showed the touchpad as having 0 buttons. I spent over 2 hours on the phone with HP support, but they were unable to resolve the problem. I sent two computers laptops back to Amazon, ask for a refund. It's a shame that these otherwise great computers are rendered by this problem, making them unacceptable for me.

  It turns out that the buttons on the touch pad work. The result of this 'problem' is my confusion over the operation of these buttons. On this touchpad (which is not like the others, I've used so far), the buttons are flush with the surface of the touch pad, and they do not respond to touch, but only in the same way as a button on the main part of the pad. The fact to the specific button functions, to firmly press a button. I found this by reading the answer to another user who has reported the same issue. I hope this can help to avoid confusion of someone else in the future.

  This does not happen when I boot in safe mode or when I boot on Ubuntu. I tried to disable all startup, running Memtest and chkdsk, but nothing seems to work. For now, I installed the latest driver AMD Mobility in the hope of it settle things. Does anyone else have suggestions for me?

  I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of all the correct drivers for this laptop?

  I found the page for drivers: DRIVERS

  But it lists 9 separate drivers for the network, and I don't know which ones I really need (I think it's the Realtek more because the laptop has WiFi RTL8188CE adapter - if this is the case, do I just need the Realtek 3 ones?).

  Thank you for your query.

  I seized - looking for the correct drivers for your laptop.  You don't have the right link.   You can check the Device Manager to see what network card is installed, and then choose the corresponding driver.

  You want two audio USB drivers and and the latest driver IDT audio.

  The latest chipset drivers are those that you would update.

  You can run the HP Wizard to help you get and driver updates for your system.    You can also use the auto detection on the HP site and it will scan your system and provide you with a list of options or upgrades.

  Your model has the AMD/Intel switchable graphics.

  It is unlikely that the W8 AMD graphics driver will work on W8.1.

  Normally, you can use some of the drivers W7/W8 on W8.1, but the graphics is very doubtful - not switchable graphics anyway.
