HP Pavilion Elite e9120f upgrade of capabilities?

Hi all!

Yes, I'm known here but I don't want to dwell on it.

I bought this computer in the past 6 months and have had virtually no problems with him.

Except one: graphics card of the

Its terrible. Period. Don't try to justify it, using this card in a computer is one of the worst decisions on the planet and that he should be flogged.

Ranting aside, I want to update the graphics card. Subsequently, this would require an upgrade of the power supply as well.

So what card should I go to?

I need suggestions, but the ones I am looking have eaten are as follows:

GeForce GTS 250

GeForce 9800 GT

GeForce 9800 GTX +.

Radon ATI HD 4850

I hope that the GTS 250 is compatible but in doing my research, I can not find any instance of anyone who upgraded to their e9120f to one of these cards.

So, I also ask... It is even possible to update the graphics on this PC?

I need an upgrade. I won't be able to afford a new rig for 3-6 years so... upgrding this is all I've got.

And if offer you a graphics card for me, please understand that my budget (power supply included) is about $ 250 (all the cards mentioned are in this price range, power supply included).

The bad news is that your PC has only a 300 Watt power supply. e9120f specifications  The good news is that you can upgrade from the power supply and install a new video card and stay within your budget.

Review the specifications of performance ATI and NVIDIA . Look at the specifications of strip memory bandwidth and level of DirectX support.

How to replace a power supply.

How to replace a video card.

www.Newegg.com has everything you need.  Choose a modular power of 550 to 600 watts.  The new ATI 5750 is a very good low power graphics card and it supports DirectX 11.

Well Yes, I'm baaaaack with another question regarding the Pavilion Elite e9120f.

This problem doesn't become apparent only a few weeks ago, when the outside temperature decided to jump the 20 degrees or more.

My CPU runs very hot and I'm very worried.

A nice cool day like today its IDLE at 56 degrees Celsius. On a hot day its 58-61 Celsius.

It sucks for me because I do very high definition youtube videos and fitness puts them all 4 cores of default of the e9120f CPU, the AMD Phenom II X 4 910 dependents from 98 to 100 percent (in turn calls the temp to never bet greater than 65 degrees, during which the cpu fan goes supersayan and makes the room vibrates with the sound of a Jet engine that is not much, only keep the temperature constant, it don't cool does not desperately).

First: get a temporary monitoring program that works with this terribly designed motherboard is hard; SpeedFan, cpu - z, nothing works except Core Temp v0.99.6 that works very well. (It is worth mentioning that the bios of the motherboard comes with does not any overclocking of any kind, whatsoever, and if you mention same fan control it is falling apart.)

I found a number of things:

The fan on the top of the radiator may be upside

There is very little air flow in the case

There is no empty fan on the motherboard connector (photo, page layout sketch)

So I need to ask some questions to the base time down to a reasonable temperature.

    So:

The CPU on the top of the radiator fan. It is supposed to blow air down on the radiator or suck air through it? (Blow into the case or suck case, blowing on the radiator).

IF, for example, the seal of filth gray (sorry for the noob, I don't know what this kind of things question) which normally resides between the radiator and the processor itself was broken somehow, that would be the problem? (I had to remove so that I could lift several tons of dust in the trash, he was released and seems to work fine for a while until now).

If the gray dirt is the cause, how do I fix/replace it?

If it's not and it turns out that I need a new cpu fan/radiator, I could get suggestions for under $ 80?

    And would work this configuration:

fan case normal cover, connected to a plug. Corsair H-50 attached to the CPU, using Connector CPU fan for the pump (pump uses a 3-pin cpu fan connector, which is what uses the mother Violet3 in the e9120f), change the case so the fan and radiator are attached to the area of practice 120 mm perforated on the case, and this is where is Gets a bit tricky : using a spare molex 4pin to PSU and converter who is actually making a 3Pin fan and this connector 3 connector case pin case fan, use another converter (I've SEEN ONE but I can't find the link more) convert the fan 3 pins to a contraption of connector 4pin case fan. I also ask if there is an easier way to put it in place but I can't find anything that converts a molex 4-pin PSU to this type of plug:

I appreciate for any help. This pocket of plasma burning in my cpu MUST END NOW! LOL tl; Dr

It should not be too much a problem with a 3 pin to 4 pin Just make you line insertion slots.

Optionally, you could add as a case fan or change the power supply. HP power supplies have very small fans and the area of total air flow (grid holes) is also low.

Thermal paste is gray grime. You need more than a slim gain of dab of thermal paste rice spread.  Insofar the processor coolers to go, you will need to do some measure the width and the height.  The Corsair and Thermaltake make a lot of CPU coolers.

I have a Pavilion Elite M9300T KZ854AV #ABA with CPU Q9300, 3 G of RAM and 750 GB 7200 RPM / MIN SATA 3 GB/S HD.  I want to improve the memory, the operating system & video card.  The current map graphic is a NVIDIA Geforce 9500 GS - 512 MB.  I don't do a lot of game but with Cyberlink Power Director 12 video editting.  Extremely slow rendering video during editing.  Is there a map 'step-up', I can go to without having to upgrade the POWER PC block?  Looking for some recommendations on the new cards.  Currently have Vista Edition Home Premium - 32-bit but want to upgrade to W7 Pro - 64-bit as part of the upgrade process.

You are welcome.  Thank you for the additional information.

The reason why I give you a recommendation of the video card is for the reasons I said.  Most of them won't be better than what you have, and it is difficult to find a retail map that will work with your power supply 350W. However, I talked to Technical Support EVGA (1-888-880-3842).  He said that the cards that are compatible with your motherboard 2008 are limited.  He recommends is an EVGA GT 640.  I recommend you call their Tech Support to ensure it will work with your motherboard and BIOS.

  • HP Pavilion Elite M9047C: Upgrade graphics card

I change to power 500 w of power.  put a 250g SSD and a secondary hard drive of 1 terabyte.  I have contributed to a maximum of the ram with 8g.

Can anyone recommend a card that works better than what I have now?

    Thank you

    PB

You would be better served by the following: 1) 600W PSU Corsair and 660) 2 of the card EVGA GTX.

Your GS 8400 original is in the margins of the GT 610.  Not really an upgrade.  Although the GTX 660 declares a min of 450W, your drives additional all add up to the load.  Collectively 'we' usually recommend air power.  This allows the new PSU to run time 1) better and 2) more effectively.

Now on this OS, good choice.  You will have until 2020, before there is no support.   You will have until the 29/07/2016to upgrade to WIN10, if you want, for free.  I would upgrade the new SSD for WIN 7.  Then clone it on the original HD.  This way you will have WIN 7 on the original hard drive, the system security.

No, the GTX 950 requires UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  HP didn't start using UEFI until mid-October 2012.  There is no way to update the motherboard in the UEFI.  Latest video cards do not for UEFI were the GTX 660/670.  I suggest that you choose a manufacturer and contact their Technical Support to help them choose the best card for your system.

You will also need to upgrade the power supply (PSU).  It is only 300W.  Most newer cards require at least 400W to work properly.  Although status map specifications at least 300 w, members reported that they had at least to 400W.

    Thank you.

    Hello

You're dominant, in your case, the most important factor-BIOS compatibility... more recent maps, like the gt730, require the UEFI BIOS to run... you have a LEGACY BIOS system, and cannot do anything, unless you change your motherboard... your pc is a model of early 2011... UEFI standard HP in their systems of end of 2012...

You can watch other maps, if... the 700 series card youre looking at is a maxwell model 2014... There are in this region that come with a feature of hybrid bios which offers wider compatibility on legacy systems... or you can look at maps more old pascal/fermi architecture that work exclusively on legacy BIOS systems...

    Hope this helps

    Thanks in advance,

    dberberick

    dberberick,

The main reason I don't like the upgrade, is that the problems you had with the previous operating system tend to make their way in the new OS. You also have the previous residual files, which can cause problems.

    (1) what would be the result?

If you haven't experienced or unfamiliar problems with Windows Vista, the upgrade to Windows 7 should be simple and without problems during migration.

    (2) what version of Windows 7?

Unless you need functions of class Affairs (unique encryption, join a domain, etc.), it is not really a necessity for professionals.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Yes, the power is 300 watts. Minimum 400 watts are for full power to retail graphics cards. The map provided by HP was custom designed to meet the requirements of power weaker and is is not the same as a retail card. HP has traditionally used Bestec and Lite-on original UPE.

To install a gaming grade graphics card, you will need to replace your power supply. The Corsair CX500 and CX600 are highly recommend and forum favorite. Further, these power supplies are only slightly larger than a block of power SUPPLY HP stock and are known to adapt. Power supply Idleness will put you back on the $50 - $75.
