If I chose to load Windows 7 Home OS on the 8.1 that sits on the newly purchased Pavilion 500 - c60 will be I had problems? AND if I choose to RELOAD 8.1 on the computer in the future how do I get the product key if as you say his anchored in the bios?

Thanks for your replies. My reason for decommissioning is a requirement with my Autocad Architecture 2012 which does not work on windows 8.1. Stupid me! I should have looked into this before buying the computer. But I like the computer because it is a 64 bit with 8 GB of memory and I love the W8.1 too. Very compatible with my ph sound cell phone android. So until I can afford to upgrade my Autocad I'm stuck with Win7.

  • HP pavilion dv4 lost product key

I have hp pavilion dv4-2118tx inslalled with windows 7 Home premium original...
one day... I got in big trouble...
until I decided to install a retail windows 7... Unfortunately the product key from the back side was broken... I can't read it over, I call hp customer care asking for this problem of licency back on my windows, but they have no idea about my problem...
now... my laptop had a windows 7 ultimate installed, but not the original...

is there a solution to get microsoft windows 7 licency?

The only way I know to retrieve the product key is when the operating system is still working.  During the installation of a retail Windows 7, you must have the license key ready fpr where the BONE is the application.

If you do a USB thumbdrive media recovery or recovery disks, now would be a good time to use it.

Normally, when you use a recovery disk on the laptop, it was created, the Recovery Manager installs the product key for the operating system on its own.

If you do not have a recovery media then you choice will have to buy a HP recovery disk or a HP Partner or buy a DVD of Windows 7 installation with license key.

  • Pavilion Notebook: Lost product key

I lost my product key for Windows 8.  I wanted to upgrade to 10 windows, but the internet does not work on it.  So I went to ubuntu 14.10.  I do not have ubuntu as much as Windows 8/7, because I think that Windows 8/7 is faster and easier to use.  The steam is really slow, if I want the game garry's mod, it will crash if I do certain things. :/

There are all kinds of bugs when I run things with ubuntu.  I want to save windows 8, and I want it to be quick like the old days.  Because garry mod is REALLY fun, and now it goes down for some reason any. :/

    Help someone. : c

You don't mention if your computer comes with Win 8 is installed.  If it was the case the product key is integrated into the BIOS.  There is no way to recover it without third party software.

Please click on the Thumbs up button '+' if I helped you and click on "Accept as Solution" If your problem is resolved.

  • Pavilion 13-a010dx: product key

I just bought a HP laptop with 8.1 Windows preinstalled. I have however no disc or product key. Could you please tell me if I need to activate Windows or how I would manage if I ever needed again to install windows 8.1 in the future without disc or the key.

    Hello

You should find an application on your laptop called Recovery Media Creator - this will allow you to create your own installation media 1 set (on disk or a usb flash drive).  See link below for more details on how to do this.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/product/HP-envy-X2-11/5296226/model/5336701/document/c03481733

The product key used to activate Windows 8 is stored encrypted in the bios chip and will automatically be read if you use your recovery media to reinstall Windows.

  • Pavilion P6-2133: Product key does not work?

I tried to update my system Windows 10 the past two days, and the downloads completely update but fails to install.

I tried to download the Microsoft Media creation tool and created a USB bootable for upgrad go, but this requires a product key. When I enter the product key on the side of my Tower, that he told me that this key does not work.

No idea why my product key appears to be invalid and what I can do about it? I plug this new system and I am the sole owner, and its the same running a copy of Windows 7 that is come preinstalled the day I bought it.

I finally solved the problem by using the iso instead of the USB. I downloaded the iso on my D drive and mounted with Daemon tools and launched the installer from there, he had my key loan but he never asked a.

I had to use the same method on my tablet, but it was 8.1 that has the ability to mount an iso natively, so I put the iso on my SD card and it mounted from there. However, 8 + pcs generally have the key integrated on the motherboard.

I was using the latest version of the multimedia tool, but no matter what he asked for a key.

  • HP Pavilion DV6 laptop: how to find the windows product key

    My first question:

I have a laptop HP Pavilion DV6 584037-001 which originally had windows 7 pre-installed on it, but later, I installed windows 10. I would like to know where I can find my windows product key - please help me.

    Second question:

How can I make sure that the BIOS of my laptop will recognize a USB key, after that I installed an SSD in my laptop so that I will be able to use the USB to install an ISO Windows 7 Home Edition?

    Third question:

The ISO Windows 7 Home Edition will include all its drivers?

Hi MarcoPolo777, for the key, you can use a software called produkey.

  • Pavilion x 2: Windows product key Validation after hardware change (new SSD)

I have a Pavilion laptop x 2 with a 64 GB SSD.  It came with Windows 8.1 but he now works Windows 10 - of course.  I decided to upgrade the 256 GB SSD.  I bought the appropriate module (a Sandisk).  I recently contacted Windows support to inquire about the procedure to validate the OS once I did the material exchange.  I wasn't sure how it would work since my x 2 Pavilion has incorporated into BIOS product key.  Microsoft told me that because I was going to do a hardware change I would need a new product key (in other words my laptop current product key would be 'blocked').  I was able to recover the product key of my Pavilion x 2 (OEM and installed keys - what is the difference?).

Does anyone have experience in this field?  Once I have replace the SSD and perform a clean install Windows 10, will be the key to product embedded BIOS validate operating system or it will reject?  Since I'm NOT buying a HP SSD (with preloaded operating system) and that my x 2 Pavilion is now long out of warranty?  I really have to pay over a hundred dollars for a new Windows operating system license?

Thanks in advance for any advice/help.

    Francis

Parameters indicate that I have a digital right so with a bit of luck when I change the SSD and install Windows 10, the machine must validate without a qualm.  I tried to see if I could link my Validation of my Microsoft account but I did not have this option on my settings (although in the past when I re-install Windows 10, link validation of my Microsoft account operating system so I guess it works.)  Also, I guess I have the anniversary edition from my machine updated automatically.

If all else fails, I'll see how it goes after the SSD upgrade and if I have to deal with Microsoft.  I also agree with you that change the SSD (essentially the ' drive') is NOT a significant change in equipment and shall not impose a new product key, but then, nothing surprises me more.

Your tips were helpful and I thank you.

  • Product key of Windows 8 for Pavilion G6

My son has a Pavilion laptop, G6, on which the warranty has expired.  The hard drive is damaged and he bought a replacement.  He now needs to reinstall Windows 8, but we are unable to find the product key.  We do not find a tag anywhere on the computer, or on the box or accompanying documents.  Question the original hard drive is no longer an option.  Can someone tell me where to find the product key, please?

    Something wrong with this file.

I downloaded myself, used the CD Burner XP tool, and was able to boot from the file.

Then try to DL the file and use the XP CD burner to burn a new DVD.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC: lack of MS Office product key

I did a factory restore on my laptop.  I did not record the product key of MS Office, because I thought that it was preinstalled.  I bought the computer in 2010 and can not find the original CD / manuals.  Is it possible that I can know is that the product key?

    Hello

The Microsoft Office installed on this laptop is the trial version, you can check this information from the link below. The full version of office must have been installed by the store, then you will need to get in touch with them as HP ships this unit with the evaluation version of Office.

  • Pavilion g7-1300: need to create a disk bootable - Microsoft will not provide even if I got the product key

My hard drive is dead and I have to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium. I went to Microsofts website and download the software and put in my product key (the Pavilion came pre-loaded with no backup disc). Microft told me I had to contact the manufacturer for a copy.  How to solve this? Am I the owner of the software, and if so why can't I get a copy?

Bit the bullet and ordered a new hard drive and the system recovery disk through the retailer where I bought the machine. Now I also need a terabyte of disk backup and I need to use it often.
