HP Pavilion H9-1214: Pavilion H8-1214: graphics card update

I am looking to update my graphics card, but through research have seen that a few other people had problems in the same area. Here is a list of all my current equipment and the graphics card that someone else said should be compatible and if someone could check if I should try to try it would be great, thanks.

Motherboard: Gigabite (model 2AC8)

CPU: AMD FX-6100

RAM: 10 GB of DDR3

Course graphics card: Radeon HD 7450

Graphics card, I'm looking at: MSI GTX GeeFORSE 750Ti

Power supply wattage: 300 Watts

If you own a H8-1214, WIN 7, the BIOS rev max is 7.16 (related to the operating system).  This means that the MSI GTX 750Ti is an excellent choice because it has a legacy and UEFI micro-switch.  You need the legacy support. Although the GTX 750Ti is rated for a minimum PSU 300W, the HD7450 is 25W and the GTX 750Ti 60W.  NewEgg shows a 400W PSU.

My h8-1214 starts to get a little old. The graphics card died a few months back and a friend gave me an old (even lower than the original spec) just to make it back to work again. Not long after the hard drive has failed too so I replaced which and also, I needed to put a new operating system on the drive I upgraded from the original windows 7 to 8.1. The problem is windows 8 don't like the really old graphics card. so I took the plunge one ordered a new one. I also had a new power supply, I have read that the original could not deal with any updates. The problem I have is I got the card is a Radeon R7 250 X http://www.powercolor.com/US/products_features.asp?id=528 doesn't seem to work with the system. Ive put the old back in and that works so I know Ive got all the power supply very well hung upward and that his problem with the card. Ive spent a little time to try to find answers and have read a few things about the compatibility of UEFI, but everything I find seems quite vague and I can't find a clear answer on what is or is not compatible, what can be done about it. Im hoping that someone could help me with, it is if the h8-1214 can use a Radeon R7 250 X? If there is a problem of compatibility UEFI is there something that I can update to make it work as the driver of the motherboard or even a bios update? If it cannot be implemented should I consider getting an old low spec graphics card or should I think about a motherboard more up-to-date, which is consistent with recent material? If this is the best option is it any particular reccomendation for most recent advice that I can put the FX-6100 in?

Thanks in advance for any help

This is your computer .  Power supply is 300W.  PROCESSOR AMD A8-5500.  D 7560 AMD graphics card.

COD Black Ops must these requirements.   Your CPU meets the corrected value.

The graphics are a serious difference... the comparison here is.  560ti vs the 760 and both are 170W.

You will need at least a 500W PSU, but again, I would see that a 600W Corsair associated with a card EVGA.

Finally, you need 8 GB of memory of motherboard.  Just 6 GB. Not sure about your Setup, because there are 4 locations, and you have 6 GB installed... Run the CPUID CPU-Z to analyze the 4 locations.

  • HP Pavilion a320n needs graphics card update.

I need to update the graphics card for my HP the a320n desktop. I need to know about how to proceed and how much it will cost me... and should I even bother? This old compy me has served well with not a glitch during the last 7 years or so, but now, it is flat refusing to run games like Second Life. It's a Nvidia GeForce 4 MX integrated GPU. Is there a way to improve this?

    Here are some generic instructions:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00007413

... The choice is yours. You should be able to find much better used or old-stock 8 x AGP card for anywhere from $30 to $150: example... http://www.TigerDirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CATID=318 & SRCCODE = WEBGOOVID & cm_mmc_o = mH4CjC7BBTkwCjCECjCEL

Memory must be inexpensive as well and can also help a lot. The thing is, if you think you can buy a new computer from an OEM, like HP, for about the same price... So, I leave to you to determine if XP is more reliable than vista or not. But more new games will be compatible with Vista... (or Win7).

  • Pavilion dv6-2155dx: graphics card update

After taking my laptop in a repair store (to explore a possible faulty HDD), they have installed Windows 7 Ultimate (originally I had window 7 Home Premium 64-bit).

Now, I'm running in the error messages on the charts during the installation of games or even playing preloaded games like Solitaire - especially on the accelerator and 3D.

Device Manager says I "Standard VGA adapter".   When I go to the screen resolution > advanced settings, tab troubleshooting shows acceleration to the maximum end of the scale.   Chiptype BTW: Intel Ironlake Mobile 8 8-bit.

The original sticker on the laptop says that it was preloaded with Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD.    When I go to Intel, they have drivers GMA by download, but suggest using pilots of specific manufacturers.  When I check for the drivers to support. HP.com they show two graphic drivers for this laptop, NVIDIA and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (no series #)

I downloaded and installed the version of HP Intel GMA.  Upon restarting, I got a black screen of death after Windows Welcome.   I rebooted in Mode safe mode and restored to an earlier point, so I'm back where I started with the Standard VGA adapter.  (actually tried this twice, same results)

Is the Intel GMA at HP correct it / compatible with the download version?

Do I need to uninstall the VGA Standard before installing the GMA?

Also I notice problems with control of the mouse and the slider: he is nervous and seems to be a hair trigger.  Maybe this related to problems of graphics card?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi there @vpbob,

    Thank you for your answer!

At this point, I would like to start by hardware testing to ensure that the graphics card and the hard drive working properly. If there is no hardware failures than to move on to other steps. If there are questions and missing then it is material that needs to be replaced.

I look online to see if there was anything I could miss out there on the Internet for troubleshooting. I found a forum on the Microsoft Web site that can some assistance.

You can try a factory restore partition, but it may not work. The partition is perhaps already damaged because operating systems have already been switched back. You can order the recovery media and use instead.

Another problem could be that the drivers from the HP website are not installed on your laptop.

When you go into the Device Manager is there one or two graphics drivers?

Do you see unknown devices in Device Manager?

Even if you had taken to repair already and you still experience problems, you can always take the laptop back their and give them all the drivers in the computer correctly for you.

I want to upgrade the graphics on this desktop computer to allow playback of some games.

Because of the limited space in the PC case an Asus Nvidia Geforce GT740 seemed to be the best choice.

When mounted, after activating the VGA in the BIOS, everything I get the screen is a screen startup HP saying "press ESC for whole upward.

There seems to be nothing in the BIOS to change that would allow the operating system to load correctly.

  • HP Pavilion Slimline S5202UK graphics card update

    Hello

I have a HP S5202UK and upgrade to one card PNY graphic GT210

    The so-called specifications

A minimum 300W or more power supply (with a minimum of 12V current rating of 18A)

I only have a 220w PSU, but max power for the card is 30w so I should be fine?

How can I find out how much my power amps can produce

    Thank you very much, Chris

    Hello

Look here in HP Partsurfer for video cards that are used in the new Slimline models with a 220 Watt power supply.  These cards have been made specifically for the HP Slimline PC with a 220 watt power supply.

The NVIDIA GT 520 or 530 are much better video cards from the GeForce 210.  There is no need to change the power supply with the HP NVIDIA GT 520 or 530.

If you do not want to replace the power supply then look here. HP Slimline power of Athena. There are also mini-ATX converter cable.

    Andrew, welcome to the forum.

Here is a video card that works in your computer.  Read the reviews to see what users have to say about it.  While it is said that simply by 300W to work properly, many members have said that you must have at least one power supply 400W (PSU).  Personally, I recommend at least 500W.  This will give you more space to upgrade in the future.  I love the Corsair PSU.

I recommend contacting Technical Support EVGA to ensure it works before buying another card or it.  They were extremely useful for me and other members.

  • H8-1214 graphics card upgrade problem

I have Pavilion h8-1214 and problems for the upgrade of the GPU.  I first tried an EVGA 750-ti, who could start on the HP splash screen, and then go no black and go further.  After a bios update and communicating with EVGA, said that the card would not work just not in this model and it was a known issue with EVGA.  I have since bought a MSI radeon r9 270 x and this map does not work either.  My computer turns on, everything seems to work, but nothing will happen on the screen.

My question is this: I'm going to be able to use a newer GPU model in this machine, or should I look at something a little less powerful?  If the latter, any suggestions?

    Alrin, welcome to the forum.

Most recent most of video cards requires UEFI firmware in the motherboard instead of the standard BIOS.  HP didn't start to fully use UEFI firmware until mid-October 2012.

EVGA cards before the GTX 650 should work with your computer.

Graphics card XFX with n beginning with '0' serial don't require UEFI firmware.  After 2013 these beginning of series # 1 to 8 need.

MSI could not give me that information.  They have simply said that if the customer has a problem to call them to the 1-626-271-1004.  My suggestion is, if you find a card MSI, you want to buy, call them first.  They should be able to help you.

My advice is to call the Technical Support from the manufacturer before buying any video card.

Note that the discreet graphics card and the built-in graphics card is not usable at the same time.

You need to replace the graphics card NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GS PCIe x 16 with a x 16 low profile PCIe graphics card (the card must have a power system recommend assessment of 160 watts or less). All purchased card that has a higher recommended system power supply requirement will require the purchase of a new power supply, follow the recommendations in cards.
