HP Pavilion: sensitivity of the touchpad

I have a HP Pavilion model 15-AB057NR with 10 Wdw I tried to change the sensitivity on the touchpad and it remains as long as I'm on the computer.  Every time I have stop and start backing up changes in sensitivity to the original setting.

Hello

Try the following.

Hold down the Windows key and press R

In the run box, type regedit and press enter

In the registry editor, navigate to the following

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\Install

Inside, look for a key named DeleteUserSettingsOnUpgrade

If it is present, right click on the key and select Edit

Set the field data of the value 0 (zero) , and then click Ok.

Close the registry editor.

Make the Synaptics setting changes you need in the usual way and save them, and then check if they are now kept after a reboot.

Kind regards

    Hey rjgdetroid,

Yes, you can certainly adjust sensitivity settings according to your preferences! Here's how to do it in Windows 8: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03523373

    Hi CGAdjensen,

Yes, you can change the sensitivity of the touchpad, that s no problem. Also, I did this because the default is too sensitive for me.

  • Satellite P300 - how to set the sensitivity of the touchpad?

I read all the forums without success. Is it possible to set the sensitivity of the touchpad? I went into the control panel and clicked by the mouse settings, but there is no 'Advanced' or 'Synaptics' tabs to adjust. For the moment, I use the FN + F9 to turn off the touch pad altogether, however, I hope that it is a short-term solution. Thanks for any response.

If the Synaptics driver is preinstalled on your laptop, you can find advanced settings HERE.

  • Windows 7, sensitivity of the touchpad, Sony VAIO

I had Windows Vista Home Premium installed on my Sony VAIO PCG-5KSP laptop.

It's never happened before, but after I installed Windows 7 the sensitivity of the touchpad went through the roof. Constantly, the cursor will be "clicked" by my finger or a wrist and move to where the mouse is located while I type.

It's already happened twice while typing this! I've already tried looking for TouchPad and looked under control panel > mouse >

There is no properties/settings tab with sensitivity. Under properties is only shows general, driver details, and if I click on change settings there again only once the general tabs, pilot and detail.

Where can I change the sensitivity of the stupid touchpad?

It's the answer - I installed Synaptics for Vista, even though I have Windows 7 - they work well together.  You can then disable your touchpad and we a bluetooth mouse and the problem is solved!  It's great.

    Hi Ladywillo (2),

Thanks for posting in Microsoft Communities. The problem description, I understand that you want to change the sensitivity of the touchpad. Follow these steps and check:

    (a) open the Control Panel.

    (b) double-click the icon named "mouse". The 'mouse properties' window opens. Go to the tab "device settings". Click the button settings, Properties.

    (c) consider the left panel of the 'Properties' window and expand the option 'sensitivity. ' Click on the option 'touch sensitivity. '

    (d) reduce the tactile sensitivity in moving the slider to the right, to the label of "heavy touch. Experiment with different levels of sensitivity until find you one suited to your needs.

    (e) click on 'OK'.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you need more assistance.

  • How to set the sensitivity of the touchpad?

I have problems with my cursor. It jumps randomly from line to line as I type. I was told that it is because I am brushing on the keyboard as I type. If that is correct, how can I do the less sensitive key?

    Thank you

There are usually options to make it less sensitive, but these options are provided by the company that made the touchpad.  Dell computers used to put options in mouse Options in Control Panel.  Toshiba computers have a special application of Toshiba to set the sensitivity.  Acer and Asus usually do it a little differently.

So you will want to first check your control panel under mouse options.  If you don't see touchpad settings, contact the manufacturer that built - they'll know where they put their options.

Or a low tech solution: put a card on the touchpad.

  • How can I change the sensitivity of the touchpad on my laptop Windows 8 Samsung series 3?

I can't find a setting that allows me to adjust the touchpad sensitivity.  I can pinch to zoom in with ease, but I can't two fingers scrolling unless I dig my nails into the protector with strength.  And, even then, it works sometimes.

Settings-> Imput gives me only option to turn the touchpad on or off.

Control Panel-> hardware and sound-> Synaptics TouchPad V7.5 gives me options to set the speed and to turn on or off certain functions of drag.
Control Panel-> currencies and printers-> mouse gives me left - and right handed options, double-click speed options, pointer options, wheel (which does not have this computer) options, etc.
Where else is there to look at?  Help!  Thank you!  :)

    Hello

Touchpads to usually have a custom utility installed by the computer manufacturer for the specific model of laptop.

Access to this utility is usually an extra tab added to the mouse settings in the control panel and some manufacturers add a utility in Control Panel distinct touchpad.

If you upgraded to Windows 7, this utility may not have migrated to Windows 8.

See the documentation on how to reinstall the utility or the manufacturers support contact information.

Sometimes I can fix it up by double tapping the touchpad, but also often, it does not work.

Anyone can shed light on how to fix?

    Hello

I think that it s a temporal question regarding the sensitivity of the touchpad settings and the Microsoft windows OS.

First, you must change the settings for the touchpad as PalmCheck sensitivity and sensitivity to touch.
You can do this in Control Panel-> mouse-> tab-> settings the touchpad device settings

In addition, you must make sure that the operating system is clean and that some background process don't affect the functionality of the touchpad. In many cases the touchpad don't work properly because of system overhead.
Clean the registry with CCleaner, don't disable some no necessary process in msconfig and at least update the touchpad drivers.

  • Functionality of scrolling on the touchpad does not work... help!

I have an Inspiron 1525, just the other day that the functionality of the touchpad scroll has stopped working.  I tried to look in the control panel to find an option to turn "scroll" back on, I found nothing.  I am running Windows Vista. Any suggestions on how to turn "scroll" back on?

    Hello

Try the system restore before you did it again at:

How to make a Vista system restore
    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-System-Restore-how.html
    -------------------------------------------------------

    If necessary:

Control Panel - mouse - look for the TouchPad settings - mine is on the settings of the device and your own tab
may be different (it is NOT the Scrollings tab which is for the mouse). On some, you can activate
and disable scrolling and/or define the size of the area and the sensitivity of the touchpad.

Some will have a TouchPad progam/control icon in the Notification area near the clock - low
    right.

Check with the manufacturer of system support, documentation in line, or forums as there probably
are shortcut keys that enable and disable the touchpad functions.

    ==========================================

If necessary: (make sure that you have restarted at least once, if the above did not work)

Panel of configuration manager devices - mouse and pointing devices - Double click on the touchpad - the driver tab-
Click on update driver (it comes may not do anything like MS is far behind the drivers of certification), now right CLICK
    on the TouchPad and UNINSTALL.

Then go to the USB and UNINSTALL ALL controllers except the category itself (all in). RESET

This will refresh the driver for the TouchPad and battery USB.

Here is the similar procedure under XP, Vista is the same, except that we need to clear the specific device if present.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310575

Then go to the system manufacturer's website and get the latest touchpad drivers.

Download - SAVE - go to where you put it-click on - RUN AS ADMIN.
