Faziz, welcome to the forum.

Since I do not know the model of the computer, I can't review the specifications.  However, if the power supply (PSU) fits into the computer, it causes no problems.  The computer uses only the amount of power required to complete.  High power will be used for peak power needs.  So it's alright to use the power supply of the computer.

  • Fan power supply ATX Vostro 420 * or shot? !

I'm looking to replace the power supply in my Vostro 420 with a standard ATX power supply.

New ATX power supplies have a large 120mm positioned on top of the PSU fan. Does this or *?

It is important because the Vostro is not really compatible with ATX design - the case has a solid above the PSU Panel so that the power supply unit must be mounted with the fan down on the mother/CPU card. A fan which breath would simply blow the hot air on the CPU.

Conversely, a fan who * would * hot air from the motherboard in the power supply and on the side.

None of these options is great.

I am puzzled how to mount a new ATX PSU and if the fan * or breath.

What is the best way to mount a new ATX PSU in a case of Vostro 420?

The shift of the 4 screws on the back, you CANNOT point the fan at the top.  He is pointing down and draws air upward.  Graphics also of VENTILATION at the back. AFAIKT ZERO types bring in air from the rear.  Even the location VENTILATION fans in the back.

I hear from the front the front of the case.  The power supply is located on top of the CPU fan and hoovers to the top of the hot air and sends it to the back of the case.   This is the norm for almost all Dell I can think.  There are fans of aspiration to the front of the case and video cards and blow hot air from the PSU to the rear.

  • Compaq Presario 2034NX. N power supply video card update

I have a Compaq Presario 2034NX and want to get an upgrade of the installed video card (for a HDMI output, etc.).  I know that I have to spend my diet as well, for new power requirements.

I am interested in (after-sales) part 3 parts, not "genuine HP/Compaq", to save costs on this box of 7 year and longer.

    (A) what version of PCI-Express is the slot on the MBoard?

    (B) what form of power factor should be purchased for?  ATX?  12V?

    (C) is there a special condition of type MOE for video work in Compaq Presario PCI-Express slot card, or will more 3rd party (after-sales) cards work?

    Thank you!

    Hello

Is the Compaq Presario PC?  If Yes, then put a standard size ATX power supply will work as well as several video cards PCI-E x 16.

Most of NVIDIA video cards require a minimum of a 300 Watt power supply.  Most of ATI video cards require a power supply of + 400 watt mimium.

1 HP didn't post the version of PCI-E slot, but I suspect 1.x. It should support most of the cards PCI-E 2.0 with a few exceptions.

    2. a stand size ATX power supply will fit (5.5x3.4x5.9).

    3. the video card chosen must be associated with a power supply to support its power requirements.

How much budget do you see for the video card and the power suppy.  You have special requirements of video connection? (HDMI, DVI, VGA)  What applications are you planning to use with the new video card?

Open your PC and a few measurement in parallel with the PCI-E x 16 slot to see how long of a video card will fit. The adjacent slot on the PCI-E x 16 slot must be vacant if a larger video card is being considered. Look at the motherboard, and ensures that the components on the motherboard will not interfere with the installation of the video card.

  • Can I put the Pavilion Slimline 180 Watt power supply to a 300 Watt PSU

    Of course, you can!

Here is an informational videoabout the possibilities of upgrading your slimline WHAT PSU found on YouTube.  A comparison of three power supplies, including the owner HP PSU and a (two video and CPU) stress test and comparison of noise is shown during the video.

Be aware that some, but not all, of the PSU, upgrades require a simple and light your PSU slimline support change. Change depends on the power supply model chosen for the upgrade.

Purchase an adaptor molex as HP UPE is necessary for the Slimlines using a power supply with the format owners microfit ATX 24 pin, as well as the standard for the HTPC power supply ATX 20 pin format.

Upgrade your power supply at a higher power will not damage your motherboard. A power supply will provide only so much power that is required of him by the mother and peripheral card up to the nominal power of the installed PSU.

It is for those who wondered how to work around the limitation of the low power 180 Watt power supply that most Pavilion Slimline PCs come with the Assembly. With a power SUPPLY improved, more memory and a graphics card discrete, including support (it is a requirement) your Slimline can be your gaming PC.

Selecting a graphics card is another topic. Not all graphics cards can hold in the case of a slimline. It takes a low profile video card. They are available for purchase online.

  • HP power supply pinout incompatible with the standard?

    My machine is a P7-1370.

While researching PSU's, I found this statement to http://www.smps.us/power-connectors.html:

"Compaq and HP also used incompatible systems. As a general rule, if you have a brand PC,.
you suspect that it may be incompatible with the standard of the industry. »

But in this forum I read about the people, replacing the PSU in HP machines with Corsair etc.

Is there any incompatibility in the HP pinout?

    Hello

The new class of consumers HP PCs of my standard ATX power supply to use observation provides. Some of the class business PCS have been known to use propriety feeding.  You can find some of the old HP PC using a connector ATX 20.

It takes time for the standards to shake.  While using a power supply ATX standard can save on costs, that it could not meet the requirements for a particular need, hence the need for a special model. Sequencing of its power for devices is a case I've seen in the past to power specialized.  Another situation might be a compact cabinet where a typical diet would not fit.

I saw the power supplies that are interchangeable between Dell and HP.

    Hello @TLT2,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you are looking to upgrade your power supply.  I'll be happy to help you with this!

Based on your motherboard card, your office has the following internal connectors for power supply:

    • A power supply ATX 24-pin
  • Pavilion m9670ch Desktop: replacement of the power supply

I replaced the original power supply with another more powerful (550W) earlier, I bought a new graphics card. This power is very strong, that's why I bought a new DARK PRO 10 power SUPPLY ATX 550W. Now, the computer does not start. When I press the power button, the fan starts momentarily and stops again. All cables are correctly installed. I reinstalled the old power supply (fort) again and everything works normally (except for the noisy fan). I contacted the manufacturer of the unit from the POWER of DARKNESS, but he referred me to HP, because they did not have a solution, but it may be a peculiarity of the motherboard. What can I do?

    Hello

Return the Dark Power Pro and get a Corsair CX500, or CX600.

  • HP Compaq 8100 Elite CMT: Need power supply 400w replacement.

And I ordered a gtx geforce 650 need a 400w power supply. I don't know on what power I need command that will fit in this. Can someone help me?

Use an adapter for your 2nd diet, it's what has worked for me.

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/like/111284841995?lpid=82
5.00 after all my research I've found the answer, it's not pretty, but it works.

Plug one of your SATA power to branch (from your current diet) on the cable resulting, plug your new power supply ATX ATX plug adapter and you're good to go. When your old power supply switch on the adapter will turn on your new, it's great.

Add2PSU is an adapter popular http://www.add2psu.com/

You could buy a dedicated power supply if you can find one, but I recommend not, they are expensive, make a lot of noise and heat.

It was a nightmare for me and I don't want other people to have to go through what I did.

Yes, it's a standard ATX PSU.  The description of the part for your current installed PSU is as follows: (746177-001) power supply - ATX, Picolit, IPS, 500W, EStar Bronze

  • Power supply MT Vostro 270

I have a Vostro 270 MT (Tower), what I want to change the power supply (at a much higher power rating). Can I replace it with any power supply ATX 24-pin? (IE - is feeding Vostro 270 MT a non-standard dell-specific wiring?)

    Thank you very much

    Paul

    sirtwist

Yes, standard ATX power supplies, with a 24-pin or 20 + power connector 4 - pin main motherboard, with or without the on/off switch, would be compatible with the Vostro 270 m

You should be able to buy a compatible power supply either a local computer or online store.

Note: For the Vostro 270 minitower, power with four SATA power connectors is required.

    Bev.

  • The Green and black wire to three posts on HP POWER supply

Hello!  I recently updated my old diet Pavilion 760n for a power SUPPLY ATX 500W PSU.  Everything worked very well.

Uh, except that a small pig green and black of the former power supply... one that has been plugged in where it says 'PS - FAN' on my mobo.  I didn't have one of these same three grandsons connectors on the new power supply.

And is even funnier, as the old power supply HP has a list on the side which shows what color wire has what voltage on it - red + 5V yellow is + 12V, black is ground, etc., but GREEN is not on the list!

I opened my computer and big case fan is running (12VDC fan), the fan on the heatsink from the CPU works, the GPU card fan works... the only fan who is not running is the power supply fan (but I think it is because it is running when the power supply gets hot and she needs).

Can someone tell me what this little piggy of son was for and what voltage it supplied, and how it is used? Thank you!

It's your motherboard and I see that the outlet marked PS - FAN.  Apparently motherboard and bios controlled the speed of the fan to power supply.  It is the first time I heard of this, but then you have an older model of PC.  New power supplies have an internal fan.  The Green wire can be a signal wire.

    Kako571111, welcome to the forum.

When a help request, you must always include the brand / model of the computer or the monitor. This information is necessary for us to review the specifications for them.

I sugest measuring the current power supply (PSU) and comparing them with the one you choose.  You can buy one that has a quantity of power.  However, I do recommend more than 600W.  The computer uses only the amount of power required to carry out.  A 600W unit will give you possible shared future updates.
