HP Presario C061-220SA. Which hard drive - SATA or IDE?

Hi guys

HP Presario C061-220SA my daughter is dead and of course, to be a university student, she has all of her work there and no backups!

So, now I have the laptop and BIOS utilities, checking the material, it was stated the hard drive had to be replaced.

I'm guessing it's a disc hard 2.5 "but I'm not sure if it is not an IDE or SATA - can anyone help?

I need to get this fixed fast and replace the drive, maybe I'll be able to recover some of its data when I chase him and connected through a USB enclosure.

See you soon

John

Presario CQ61-220SA has a 2.5 Sata drive.

  • Satellite A105-S4074 - which HARD drive for upgrade?

I want to replace the Toshiba MK1234GSX (120 GB, 5400 RPM, SATA-150, 8 MB cache) hard drive on my A105-S4074 laptop with a bigger. My question is whether it is good to buy a Toshiba HDD no.

Available on direct to my computer Toshiba laptop is only the following HARD disk:
    HDDR320I02X
Toshiba 320 GB 2.5 "5400 RPM internal notebook hard drive - SATA"
    Capacity: 320 GB
    Interface: Serial ATA 150
    Speed: 5400 RPM
    Buffer size: 8 MB

I wonder if such a 320 GB or 500 GB WD HARD or Momentus drive will work very well, for example
-Western Digital 320 GB / 500 GB Scorpio blue SATAII 5400 RPM 2.5 IN. 8 MB in bulk / OEM hard drive (WD3200BEVT/WD5000BEVT
    -Seagate Momentus 5400.6 320/500 GB 5400 RPM / MIN SATA 3 GB/s 8 MB Cache 2.5 inch internal NB Hard Drive (ST9320325AS/ST9320325AS)

Also, is it wise purchase a 7200 RPM HARD drive for this laptop? Would this work?

    Thank you

    Hello

First on interface SATA there is no capacity limit. This means that you can buy each HARD drive with SATA interface and it should work fine.

It is also irrelevant if you buy a Toshiba, Western Digital, etc. There is not much difference between the models. It of your choice what you buy! ;)

Theoretically, 7200 RPM HARD drive should work but don t forget that they produce more heat and need more battery power. 5400 RPM should be sufficient for most applications.

  • HP 6120 t BIOS does not recognize the second IDE hard drive connected via IDE-SATA controller

    Hello

HP 6120 t (vista) BIOS does not recognize the second IDE hard drive connected via IDE-SATA controller. The other SATA disk and the DVD player came with the machine.

I hooked my old 200 GB Hitachi drive via the controller. I also put the jumbers in the present as a slave. I also took the original WD drive and just connect the IDE hard drive. BIOS do not show any drive at all.

I would try something possible at this time I have a lot of my data on the old disk.

    Thanks appreciate any suggestion.

Try to enter the BIOS and I believe under change of Advanced menu of SATA to IDE or Enhanced.

You need to do when you install Windows XP or you will get a blue screen and it does not start.

Don't forget chang back when you put it in your drive home hard sata.

  • Which hard drive buy for my laptop Toshiba Satellite 15.6 "3 GB HD 320?

After receiving an error of 10-FA12 - 054D and do not recover my laptop to zone out, I believe that I have to buy a new hard drive.

Which hard drive buy for my laptop Toshiba Satellite 15.6 "3 GB HD 320?

You can check the Toshiba site for which specifications you need.  A general rule is to buy something at least two times greater than the one that failed, because the data use and therefore the space doubles every 18 months.

You may want to consider a large enough to allow you to make backups and store in another partition

  • Which hard drive do I need for my compaq presario CQ60

which hardd drive do I need for my Compaq Presario CQ60? And where would be a good place to try to get a quality for a lower price? Thanks advance.

    Hello

The player at the link below is an example of one that would be great for your laptop computer, as long as it's the same capacity or larger than your current HARD drive.

    Hard drive 320 GB

The procedure to replace the hard drive is detailed from Page 51 in your & Maintenance Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the operating system on the new drive.

If you do not have your recovery discs, you can order a replacement set using the link below.

    Order HP recovery disks.

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

    Kind regards

  • Which hard drive is Windows 8 installed on a Dell 14z, the SSD or SATA?

Does anyone know what disk hard Windows 8 installed on a Dell 14z? The ultrabook has two discs, a disc SSD of 32 GB and a 500 GB SATA drive to address traditional. I read all the horror stories about Windows 8 and my coming soon the new laptop will have this as the operating system. I want to exchange a 'clean' HDD and install Win 7. If I have questions, I just re - install the original physical drive.

I prefer really do not get stuck with Windows 8, and ditching any help would be nice. My first choice would be to remove the infected drive and keep it as a fail-safe.

Thanks in advance for any help!

PS. I used Windows 8 for 20 minutes. It was too long 30 minutes...

It would be installed on the SSD.

What I would say do you before installing the new drive and installing Windows 7, it's your backup partition layout. This will provide at least the convenience, if you decide to go back to Windows 8, you can just restore the backup image:

First, create a backup of your installation of Windows 8 on an external hard drive:

    http://techingiteasy.WordPress.com/2012/10/29/how-to-backup-your-Windows-8-installation/

    Then, create a repair disk:

  • HP G72 - b00: which hard drive on laptop HP G72t-b00 interface?

I have a laptop HP G72t - b00 CTO with a few updates that I bought in December 2010. I considered buying an SSD for her to help performance (it keeps well enough yet, but I would like an additional performance for a key task). I read online somewhere (not necessarily good reputation) that the HP - G72 uses the interface Serial ATA-150 for hard drives, which, from my understanding, has a maximum speed of 150 MB/s. I know that the laptop is old, but this technology dates back to 2003 or more and the standard SATA had many improvements 2010. It would be very surprising to me if HP has chosen to use it.

Then... Does anyone know what drive hard interface uses HP G72t-b00?

    Thank you!

    -Tyler

    Hi, Tyler:

Your laptop's hard drive controller has a SATA II (3.0 Gbps) interface.

It features a Mobile Intel 5 series chipset.  They have the support of SATA II disk controllers.

  • Satellite Pro L100 - which hard drive is maximum for this model.

Dear users, I have a problem with choosing appropriate new HARD drive for this model. I have no idea of this title is to the maximum with what my BIOS will manage. This model, I bought on the year 2006.
I would be grateful for any help.

    Hello

AFAIK this Satellite Pro L100 has been equipped with a SATA HDD controller.
All hard drives 2.5 SATA should therefore be compatible controllers SATA HDD with no limitation.

Beginning taken IDE controllers support only 28-bit LBA and allows only to hard disks up to 128 GB.
Given that the ATA - 6 the 48-bit LBA is supported which allows the use of larger hard drives?

    Greetings

  • A satellite - which HARD drive should I buy?

What is your suggestion for the repair of hard drive? He has bad sectors according to certain aspects of the program, but I want to be sure that one is useful!

Can you help me brothers? Thank you

    Hello!

Of course, it of Nice to hear some suggestions about HARD drive models, but I think it might be a little difficult if you n t post which laptop model you exactly. ;)

I mean, first of all, there are two interfaces available IDE and SATA HARD drive. On the IDE interface, you have a limit of 128 GB I think and for discs hard SATA are available in different speeds (RPM for example 5400 or 7200 RPM).

So thank you for posting your model laptop and HARD drive, you have right now.

    Good bye

I'd rather than PCIe PCI for this purpose.

HP liked SIIG for a number of their SATA PCI slot cards.  SIIG has updaters for these maps on its web site, and the pilots understand place in Windows 8.  Here's what I recommend if you want to only two new SATA internal ports:

    http://h30094.www3.HP.com/product.aspx?SKU=3062195&mfg_part=SC-SAT212-S4&pagemode=CA

There is also a card HP SIIG eSATA that HP has used, and I have also used that... it worked great.  It has two eSATA ports and no port SATA internal:

    http://h30094.www3.HP.com/product.aspx?cache=2012565552&culture=en-us&SKU=2850719

In addition, you can connect a single SATA hard drive on an eSATA port (the reader would need external power supply) for formatting, etc.  For that you need a cable with eSATA on one end and a connector type SATA internal regular on others... it is so much easier than to open the box and play with the internal cables.  The best quality I've found for those who are Macgurus.com or Granitedigital.com.  Opt for a shorter (1 m) rather than a longer therefor version if you choose to do so, in order to reduce the risk of interference (which I have never seen this):

Macgurus told them are indicated for the generation SATA I, II and III, and they are a little cheaper for a length of 1 m of the granite.  Both are excellent companies.

Finally, there is a HP SIIG PCI with combined eSATA/SATA, with a player external eSATA and SATA port internal:

    http://h30094.www3.HP.com/product.aspx?SKU=2850718&mfg_part=SC-SA1012-S1&pagemode=CA

I'd stick with HP SIIG solutions and probably buy directly from HP for this unless you can find the same for much less expensive on eBay.  The cards have had several revisions, and I think that if you get your HP, you would later.
