HP ProLiant Microserver Wake On LAN wireless WOWLAN

Hi, I was wondering if someone had managed to get the wake on LAN wireless (wowlan) working on a Microserver?  I think that it would be not possible because you will need to have a wireless NETWORK interface integrated to do this and the server is not, but I thought I'd ask.  I'm using Linux, but I'd be curious to see if someone had got it works on any OS at least that would show that the hardware can support it?

Thank you

HD

I'm trying to configure the Wake on LAN for my AirPort Extreme and Windows 7 PC, reboot with my iPad.  It works fine when the iPad is on the local network, but no power on the PC when I'm not on my network domestic.  I put airport to the port before 9 to the PC as directed, and made sure the PC has been configured to accept magic packets.  Any help?

Apple wake on lan system is different... and there is a good chance the router from Apple not go to work.

The best and easiest around the issue is to install a different router... and use airport extreme for the wireless. Make sure the PC is connected to the main router although no airport.

  • Satellite C660 - how to activate and use WAKE ON LAN?

    Hi all

Previously, I posted asking about the use of Wake on Wireless LAN and was very helpfully informed that it was impossible, so I started to explore the Wake ON LAN option.

I have a Toshiba C660 PSC0LE-00500JEN and helped Wake ON LAN in the BIOS and have connected a LAN cable between my router and the laptop, which recognize each other, if the cable looks ok.

However, if I use an app to WAKE ON LAN on my android, or I use a site online "wake on lan via browser ', the laptop stay asleep.

    Can someone advise?

    Thank you

    Hello

Wake Up on Lan option would work if send you a magic packet to the remote machine (laptop).

I have no experience using the Android app, who knows if it works properly

Try the other method. For example, using software such as wake on Lan for Windows (GUI) graphical user Interface

Google for it to download this software.

In addition, go to the device-> LAN card Manager-> properties-> Advanced tab and check here if the WOL is activated too

  • Wake on Lan for HP Envy laptop m4

I have a HP ENVY laptop m4 running Windows 8.1 (64-bit).  The laptop has a Ralink RT5390R 802.11bgn Wi - Fi adapter. I can't get to respond to any package of Wake-On-Lan.  The computer is connected wireless to 90% of the time.  At this point, I have not tried a sequence of waking with the wired connection, so I can't tell if it's successful.

My question is: is-possible WOL with the Ralink card? And, if so, how you configure it?

    Thanks in advance

The first thing you need to know is that it doesn't seem to be a WOL enable\disable option in the BIOS of your laptop want m4.  That does not make a non-viable option using WOL.

    Hello

    Wire or wireless?

If it wireless it will be the current wireless hardware does not work do not support this action.

Thread might or might not work depending on the hardware.

While many office computers would wake on network traffic, a lot of laptops would be not because they all plan material manufacturer to save energy.

There is nothing more that we can do about it in addition to checking the suite (not the magic packet) tab in the power management of the network card.

It is one of the issues that are still outstanding (hardware wise) in the entry level network business.

  • Wake-on LAN with Hibernate

I have a home network setup, my laptop is connected wireless. I am running Windows XP Home Edition on both.

When I'm not on my desk, I move to auto-hiberbate when not in service for 15 minutes.

I heard of a term called wake-on-LAN, where a computer is able to 'wake up' the other. I see only an option for the stand-by mode, but I do not use. Will this work with Hibernate? I tried to change some parameters of the network card via Device Manager. So far I was not able to do anything.

I want to be able to access the files on my desktop with my laptop, without having to turn on the desktop computer.

  • Wake on Lan for a Mac Mini running Leopard does not

Don't know where to best this post, but here's.  I'm trying to set up a Mini as a server of music for my audio system.  The Mini is a core 2 duo with 1 GB of RAM of 2009 I think.  Can I upgrade to Snow Leopard (possibly Lion/10.7 if I improve memory, what can I do anyway).  The mini is on a local network using a Netgear router and is only connected through wifi.  No ethernet.  The Mini is connected to a DAC by USB, and which is connected to the audio system.

I want to run this without screen and keyboard and rely on my iPhone or my MBAir to control the Mini via screen sharing.  I want to leave the Mini sleep don't no need then to wake up when I want music.  Problem is, I can't get the Mini to wake up.  I tried the Wake on Lan and other tools of waking distance so I can start playing the music, but I can't seem to wake up.

I have the correct MAC address and IP address (I booked a local IP address for him).  I'm sure that the two computers are on the same network.  I put the Mini to wake on lan in energy saver prefs.

    Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance!

    @Dan2495

Go to the BOOT options in the BIOS.

Uncheck the option of network (PXE) boot.

Then go to the Options of integrated device.

Value Wake On LAN for a hard driver start.

    Hi @GOGO46,

Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support. It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, HP experts and other support staff. I came across your post and wanted to help.

Here are a few steps to identify the cause of the failure, or you get a permanent solution:

    • Perform a default bios.
    • Please run the diagnosis of Wi - Fi on your computer.
    • Steps to do: hold button power for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
    • Turn on the computer and immediately press the F2 key repeatedly, once every second about.
    • The main menu of hardware for the HP (UEFI) PC Diagnostics is displayed.
    • Select pane control and run the wireless diagnostics.
    • Please check all electromagnetic disturbances in the area. (Such as the microwave ovens, GBA and mobile phones)
    • Make sure that the proximity of the laptop with your router.
    • Please disable the Bluetooth driver in Device Manager and check.
    • Please check in SafeMode with network.
    • You can also create a new user account to check to further isolate the issue.
    • If the wireless card is insensitive or not detected in diagnostic tests, or if the problem persists after trying these steps then the Wi - Fi card is defective and must be replaced.

For more details please go through the support document for troubleshooting wireless network and Internet (Windows 10)

I would like to know if these measures worked for you.  If they did, it's great!  Give us some reinforcements by clicking on the solution and laurels, buttons that help and others see that we have the answers!

  • Wake On Lan for Pavilion 500-046

I have been using Wake On Lan on my other computers to wake up computers on my network that have been closed using the Windows 7 shutdown command. This is a very useful feature for me, and I would like to make it work on my computer HP Pavilion Desk Top with Qualcomm AR8161 PCI - E Gigabit Ethernet control. The Bios on the 500-046 has this option, and I put it to ACTIVATE. I am running Windows 8.1 update on the Pavilion. I, moreover, looked at other possible power in Device Manager settings, but I'm not having any luck getting it works. There is absolutely no response from the Pavilion when a wake on LAN signal is sent. A similar question has been posted by me a few days there are no answers. Maybe and Expert could give it a whirl. Thanks for any help.

    Hello fredkoch3,

I read your post about how you have problems to wake on LAN issues with your desktop computer, and I'd be happy to guide you to a resolution!

To start, I recommend that you follow this thread on ' Wake on LAN ' (WOL) behavior in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. This should help explain how (WOL) is used for Windows compared to Windows 7 8.1.

To find out if your system can be configured for Wake on Lan, I suggest a command "powercfg' running on your computer. This will check the power management features available. To do this, please follow the steps in the following procedure:

    1. Press and hold the Windows key and the R button simultaneously
    2. Type the word cmd in the box provided
    3. In the command prompt window, type the command "powercfg - availablesleepstates.
    4. Here you can compare the available sleep States using the document States supply system to see if (WOL) is available.

Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your response!

  • Wake On Lan doesn't work 640 ProBook

    Hello!

I am trying to configure wake on LAN on laptop ProBook 640 G1, but it does not work

I configured the BIOS settings and also tried different magic packet WOL tools with no luck. I have already updated the BIOS to the latest available version. Also I tried various BIOS settings, but it simply doesn't.

I read the various messages with some advice (as configuration options of Windows drivers, also put my laptop in standby mode, the standby modes available with the POWERCFG command verification) but still I can't make it work.

I tested my network using a utility to check if my phone is received the magic packet and network is fine.

I already work with Wake On LAN function in another HP laptop and it works fine. The problem is with this new model (I have 2 new laptops and it does not work in any of them).

    Hope someone can help me.

    Thank you in advance!

    Hello!

    I solved my problem.

The origin of the problem is the way in which Windows 8 turns off your computer.

If I run the "shutdown-s" command to CMD then I can start my computer with magic packet WOL.

But if I use the option stop with the mouse, then I can't.

I had to disable the hybrid boot in my windows, so it's no more a problem. I found there is a command to do this:

    ' bcdedit/set disabledynamictick Yes.

    Now it works fine.
