Hello

From the desktop, hold down the Windows key and press R.  In the run window, type services.msc and press to enter.

Scroll down to the print spooler service, right click and select Properties, then click the Stop button.

Now search for C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS, then delete the work inside this folder - you may need to click a command prompt to get the authority to open the PRINTERS folder.

  • DeskJet 2540: Deskjet 2540 print and Scan works on Windows 10

I have installled, uninstalled and reinstalled the software half a dozen times now, on my Windows 10 machine, but I still don't have any interface to scan documents.

The installation process has shown a success install and I was able to recognize and connect to the printer. In my Start menu, the new option 'Scan & Print' is there, as shown in the screenshot (click on the screenshot to the size of the full image).

But when I click on the option, instead of the usual analysis and the dialog box print, I am faced with a new printer 'Connect' and 'Add more software' options (see screenshot below).

How can I get to the good old scan dialog box?

Among others, I used to have an option here to scan directly to PDF. This option is not accessible from anywhere on the machine and is something I desperately need to back.

Has it been removed from version 10 of Windows? I ran a search for "Scan" computer, but the only options I get are native Windows analysis (which works very well for the individual photos) and this dialog box. Nothing that would allow me to scan a document of several pages in PDF format

  • All-in-one Deskjet 2540: Brand New Deskjet 2540 - "cartridge is Incompatible - black ink cartridge.

I just got a new HP Deskjet 2540 all-in-one yesterday, ordered from amazon.de, went through the installation of software on my 2015 Macbook Pro running OSX Yosemite, deleted the band contained in 301 ink cartridges provided, placed them in the printer (tricolor on the left, in black on the right) without touching the electrical contacts or the ink nozzles and tried and align the ink cartridges.

    I met an error message:

    'Incompatible ink cartridge.

    Black [K]

The cartridge listed above is not intended for use in this printer as it is currently configured.

    Please see using printer. "

Strange, but no matter, the bad seats maybe. I opened the drawer, removed black and reinstalled. Same error message. Well, I ordered an extra authentic HP 301 XL knowing I would run on Finally, maybe my ink cartridge provided was bad. I removed the 301 XL tape and installed. This time, no message error, but as soon as I went to print an alignment page, I received the same error. I went back between cartridges and sometimes I get the printer to accept it, but any attempt to use the printer caused an error message.

So I went on this forum, found a few tips on how to solve the problem. I tried the resets seats and the relocation and hard. Same error message. I went to clean the contacts, using a cotton swab, filter coffee and bottled water Jig only contacts of eletrical on two ink cartridges (normal and XL) and contacts of printers. I let them dry for 10 minutes and reinstall. Same error message, no progress.

I'm at a loss for what to do that this is a new printer and I say to myself that I would not have this much trouble. If I could get advice on what to do and more: seats/resettlement, cleaning the contacts, hard reset, it would be appreciated.

    HI bchowseph,

I found some information about the printer product Specifications.  It does not list the cartridge 301 for Western Europe.  The 61 is for North America.  I think I made the assumption that you were in the United States (my bad!)

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/product/HP-DeskJet-2540-all-in-one-printer-series/5295960/model/5295961/document/c03811750/

I greatly apologize for the confusion!

Yet, the printer should accept the cartridges you had - so I think I can get a replacement printer is the right course of action.

The ink cartridges should be OK for a few days in an airtight container.  You may need to run a routine cleaning cartridge if you see necessary ink missing once you have installed.

If you need to return the standard procedure is to call HP customer care.

I hope that everything works with the replacement printer.  I also hope it is resolved quickly!

  • DeskJet 2540: Scanning error

Nothing wrong with printing - the computer recognizes that she and I can print etc. However, I am unable to do two things:
    1. install the wireless connection
2 do the analysis. When you use the "print and Scan Doctor", I get this message:
Driver error: the scan driver is unable to communicate with the product.

I removed and reconnected the power cord and restart the computer, but it still does not work.

I jumped the scan after that and found that everything (except Driver and HP Twain Scan error check) has a green check mark.

  • HP Deskjet 2540: The printer is offline

    Hello world!

I have a printer HP Deskjet 2540, which works fine until I bought a new modem WLAN. The old modem Netgear 4 G LTE WLAN S and a new Huawei 4 G WLAN E5377. My computer and tablet work well with this new device, but the printer is not. I tried to put the modem, printer and computer off and restart them, but it did not help me. I removed the Windows Firewall, it did not help. I tried all sorts of troubleshooting and to take off a printer from the list of printers and install it again. I downloaded HP scan and print doctor without any help. I printed the list of WLANs testresults. He told me that the SSID is always the old name of modem. What I need to change this name to be again? How to do?

Please, help me to solve this problem.

    Thanks for your help.

    Kind regards

    Anja

    Hello fellifel,

You will need the new modems to the printer, such as the SSID and the new password information. You can either follow the procedure described in this document, to:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03820126

Or you can also change your SSID and password to what it was with the old modem, and printer should just reconnect. If you do it this way, you will need to change your computer and the Tablet back as well.

    What's not?

It seems that there is something wrong with the HP scanning application.

    Hi @M_DW,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you are unable to scan with printer all-in-one HP Deskjet 2540. I'd be happy to help you and don't forget to come back to this thread and check "Accept as Solution", if I have successfully helped solve you the problem. If you want to say 'Thank you' to my effort to help, click on the "thumbs up" to give me a Kudos.

I see that you can not use the HP scanning app, please explain in more detail what is wrong.

What is the error message that you receive?

Have you tried to scan from another application, such as Apple Image Capture?

I wonder if you use Airprint driver rather than the driver from HP.

Please try the following steps to see if we can get the scan function to work properly.

    Reset the printing system:

To begin, I will have you reset the printing system on your Mac. Please click herefor instructions on how to perform the reset. When the site opens, follow the steps under"Reset printing in OS X Lion system" because the steps are the same for Mac OS X 10.10. This Reset deletes each printer on your Mac. However, it does not uninstall printers. Therefore, if use you other printers on the Mac, once the reset is complete simply make sure printers are attached via a USB cable or connected network and (+) add hide them po do add not your HP Laserjet back in right now.

Once the reset is complete, proceed to the next step.

    Uninstall the drivers and software:

Please click here to find out how to properly uninstall your printer. Once the site opens, select the drop-down list 'Mac OS X v10.6, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.8 and OS X v10.9' and follow the steps under two method to complete uninstallation.

Once the uninstall is complete, please continue on.

Check and repair your Mac disk permissions:

    1. Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
    2. Go to the Utilities folder
    3. Open disk utility
    4. Select the hard disk volume, you use (usually on the left)
    5. Select verify disk permissions
    6. Once this process is complete, select repair disk permissions

    Installing the HP software:

Click here to download and install the all-in-one HP Deskjet 2540 Printer series full feature software and drivers. Try printing and scanning.

If the issue persits, continue on.

    Check the Apple updates:

    1. Go to the Apple
    2. Select System Preferences
    3. Select software update
    4. Click update now
    5. Install your available updates
    6. Computer restart

    Manually install the driver Package:

Please click here to manually download the package from Apple update for v3.0 HP printer drivers. Once the site opens click on the download button at the top. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the driver package.

    Add device:

    1. click on the menu of Apple , then Preferences System.

    2. click on Print & Scan and then check if the name of your printer appears in the printer list.

    3. click on the name of your printer, click the sign minus (), then remove the printer.

    4. click on the plus sign (), click Add a printer or a Scanner, click the name of your printer.

    5. click on the area of use or with the help of Print and then select the name of your printer on the shortcut menu. Ensure that the Laserjet driver is selected.

    6. click Add to add the printer to the list. Do not add the Airprint driver.

    7. try scanning using the ADF again.

    Published by Mr X-23source.

Alternatively, you can scan using other applications.

    Please see this guide.

    Hi brugar,

Thanks for getting back to me with the information on the computer.

I have a few steps we can take to try to solve this problem.

First of all, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a bar/power strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer for example, but it is intended for HP products in general. Please click the link which explains the problems when connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power.

Please remove the USB from the printer and computer, and leave that it disconnected until further notice.

Please click on the link that explains the steps to uninstall the printer software.

Once the uninstall is complete, reboot the computer.

When the computer is back running, disable the firewall or anti virus protection so that it does not all conflicts cause when we do the installation.

Please click on the following link for the HP Deskjet 2540 all-in-One Printer series full feature software and drivers.

Save the file on the desktop so that it creates its own icon.  This will make it easy to find download.

Double-click the new icon and follow the installation steps.  The installation will prompt you as to connect the usb cable then please do not it connect before hand.

If troubleshooting doesn't help not solve your problem, then I would say call the HP Technical Support to see all the other possibilities for you. If you call in North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, please click here: click here.

    Thanks for your time.

  • HP deskjet2542: door-cartridge Hp deskjet 2540

Cartridge door disappeared. How can I get a replacement?

    Hey @Supergran1,

Welcome to the HP forums! I hope you enjoy your stay here.

I see that you are having problems with the transport on your Deskjet 2540. I can help you with that.

For starters, transport on this printer doesn't have to be a removable piece. If you try to replace the cartridges from the printer must be connected and turned on. Once it is on, if you open the door at the bottom of the printer the transport should slide and you should be able to insert your cartridges. You can find more information on cartridge replacement in this document.

If you have any other questions please let me know. If this resolves your problems then please click on accept as Solution below my post.

I hope this helps and I hope you have a great week!
