HTML 5 on Linux

HTML 5 is supported by the latest Linux Firefox? I need to run Flare HTML 5 support on RHEL 5.

Support for HTML5 is the same on all platforms.

If a feature is listed as being supported, so it should work on Linux.

  • Webhelp created with RoboHelp HTML installed on Linux server crashes when view with Firefox

We have just started using the Adobe Technical Communication Suite to a single source our documentation and have worked on most of the kinks, except for a sticking point in the Webhelp generated with RoboHelp. We need our help system to work with IE and Firefox. When aid is run locally on a Windows machine, IE and Firefox work fine.

When help is installed on our Linux-based server, the help of opening causes Firefox hang unless Firefox is configured to use Unicode encoding. Unfortunately, the Firefox default is Western Europe. We do not control the environments of our customers, and we can not just to document this problem because FireFox users will not be able to open the help system more about the fix.

During the investigation of this problem, we discovered that RoboHelp is insert a blank line at the beginning of each HTML file. This blank line is innocuous in IE and in Firefox when the help is installed locally, but when help is installed on a Linux server, the empty line causes Firefox to hang unless the Unicode encoding is selected. It seems that under Linux, the empty line is converted to 3 characters corrupt, that can be seen if you look at the source code.

It is a showstopper for us, unless a workaround can be found. My questions are:

    (1) is this a known problem?
    (2) is it possible for RoboHelp to eliminate blank lines?
    (3) is there a way to force FireFox to use Unicoding encoding for our help system (for example, by changing our CSS file)?

    Thank you!

    Welcome to the forum.

A bit beyond me, but I wonder if article 22 on this page of my website help.

The reference to 3 corrupt characters, is what prompted me to think about it.

  • Impossible to install Linux

I am installing Linux Slackware 10.1, but as soon as the cd is started / reading, the following message is displayed:

    Boot CD-ROM type: CD/Non-Emulation Booting
ISOLINUX 2.13 2004 12/14 isolinux: spec package failed, trying to wing loading...
isolinux: extremely broken BIOS detected, abandon last attempt with player = 90
    isolinux: disk error 01, AX = 42E1, car = 90
Initialization failed: press a button to try again...

I've tried the drive on another PC laptop Toshiba, and it worked without any problem.

It seems my BIOS, or maybe my CD drive (cd/dvd burner) is not compatible. I checked the BIOS update section, but without success - my model has no bios updates (I have a Satellite M45-S331). What can I do to install Linux on this laptop? I have already partitioned my hard drive and created Linux and Swap partitions.

    Hello

I'm not a Linux Professional, but perhaps the following links can help you.

These links are of Toshiba Europe and Japan, maybe that your laptop is not listed because you have a U.S. model.

  • Tecra 8000, linux & ethernet & pnp

    Hello

I am trying to install Linux on a Toshiba Tecra 8000. The problem is with a chipset Realtek ethernet PCMCIA card (module: 8139too), which is recognized, but the network is unusable. I always get an error of SIOCSFFLAGS and assigned interruption is 0, which means that it has failed. I have read many times that I have to disable plug-and-play, but there is no choice when I start with a floppy and run the TSETUP. EXE. Y at - it an alternative to this? Do you have any other clues?

    Thanks, Thomas

    Hello

Perhaps the following site will help you solve the problem.

Here are 2 official linux Toshiba sites and there are also some tips.

PS: You can also enter the BIOS if you press the ESC key immediately after lighting NB!

  • A few questions using Linux on Satellite L30-10 x

Sorry to bother you people, but I had this satellite L30-10 portable x.

I try to make it work with my o/s preference, what is Linux (or any unix-based), for which the goal, I need to know what's what in there, IE.

    1. how chip works for the compatible softmodem V. 90 - 92?

    2. What is happening with everything that controls usb ports?

I found a live-cd that makes the USB ports of the work, which is the work of disks usb-Clerkship on them, so I'll solve this one thanks to study how it does, and 2 of the 3 live-cd I used seems to have the graphics (up to new problems when I try for different resolutions..)
but that leaves the question of the modem.

I haven't tried something more, like the WiFi network, pc-card (I hope that ethernet works... it is usually without much trouble).

There is also a good question on the cd/dvd drive, that is, it is declared as a "super multi" one (whatever that means) and a 'double layer' one and nobody promised anything about burning DVDs with it (the seller certainly didn't), but the docs online here @ toshiba - Europe.com say about the L30 series it is supposed to be able to burn 8 , 5 GB, so it it true finally on the specific cd/dvd driver 10 x model or what?

I understand that many people would disagree with the use of linux on a machine designed for a specific software company,
but I still believe that the manufacturer of this product (the satellite laptop L30-10 x) should tell customers what's in it, period.

In short, if you can not help with my questions above, please tell the best, you know who I should ask, which is supposed to be responsible for what is in this anywhay for laptop, a mailing address or e-mail, something to try for more information.

    Thanks in advance,

< class p 'c3' = > Octenol is a natural chemical that occurs naturally as a by-product of the plants and animals that eat a lot of vegetables produce. If carbon dioxide is mixed with octenol, it turned to be an attractant for several species of mosquitoes. There are other insects like the fire of the ships and the fire ships which are also attracted to this perfume. It turned out to be a very effective product, especially for the fire ships. < br / >

Octenol is also a pesticide ingredient which is used to attract mosquitoes and flies that bite. He does not kill insects; It only attracts them. It can be used in combination with other products and devices that kill once they are successfully attracted the device. It is important to know that no pests are also lured and destroyed by some of the features. < br / >

If octenol is ingested, there is a possibility of toxicity. However, it is not harmful in the air to humans, animals or the environment. It is extremely important that it is kept safely of children to avoid the risk of ingestion. Placement of repulsion and the device used to catch biting insects must be carefully considered. It should be kept safely away from children and pets. < br / > < / p >

Why all the CDATA tags in your styles?  You don't need them there and they create problems.

You have considered all this reconstruction without tables?  A large part of your code looks like it comes from MS Word which is not optimal for the web.

The background image is + 1000px of wide and 374,01 KB (382 985 bytes).  For the fastest loading backgrounds, consider using Gradients in CSS or small, seamless tiles and repeating to fill the viewport.

Honestly, I don't see anything here that couldn't be done better & much more effectively with a formatting table-less CSS. You want me to show you how?

  • Content by lining up in the sidebar with the content located in the main area?

Hello, I have created a website using Dreamweaver CS4 and have encountered a problem when using a model. The model I use is: 2 fixed columns, sidebar, header and footer to the right. The problem seems to be in the sidebar where content does not start at the top, it seems to be 15px under the content in the main area. I can't find CSS or any reason why it starts where it comes from. It seems to look like even and properly in Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari but not in IE9. The page is online at www.Lots2Homes.com and you will see that the content is lower to the right sidebar in the main area to the left. Below is the code for the home page and of the CSS. This got me going in circles, any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • 301 Permanent redirects

I did some reading in the permanent redirects and have a few questions I've ever had to do so far.

I redesigned a customer site where structures have changed, and it has also changed from a windows server that serves html on a linux server served the PHP, the new server is not associated with the old pages that no longer exist.

So is the fact that the server has changed a problem? Some pages are named the same, others became redundant as well, no matter what, they changed file with the suffix suffixes .php .html. That this has an impact on permanent redirects?

In addition, what I do in what concerns the redirects? I put the original file on the server with redirection in code, or can I actually connect to the host administration area and their implementation from there?

    Thank you.

    Carpet

With this code in your htaccess file:

    Options + FollowSymlinks
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteRule ^ (.+)\.htm$ $1.php http://example.com/ [R, NC])

all requests for htm pages will be redirected to their companions .php. (Of course change "example.com" with your domain name.)

This means that there is no need to have pages on the server at all .htm, they weill never been accessible through a browser or a spider.

It is also irrelevant that you have changed hosts/servers.  All requests for .htm or .php, pags to come on the new server files.

    Hope that helps.

  • IE7 issue with website

I have developed my own Web site in Dreamweaver CS4, check the browser compatibility and validated all pages for IE and Firefox. I downloaded my files on my Yahoo hosting account, and now that he's alive, I can't check my homepage (index.html) and another page with IE7 - but all the pages are searchable using Firefox. I checked all my pages have the same header information and can not know why only these 2 pages have a problem. When they load in Internet Explorer, I get a blank white screen with 'fact' appearing in the bottom left of the browser and only shows not all errors.

    Someone at - it ideas?

    Thank you

As a site hosted by Yahoo, it will never completely validate because of the code that yahoo inserts after the tag on all pages. The validator will help find errors on the rest of the pages, however.

But this problem will not be taken by the validator. You have an HTML comment to open in one of your elements of style that is not a closing correspondent HTML comment. Given that the use of HTML comments inside style sheets incorporated was no need since - oh, what NS 4?, just delete it.

    Change this:

In addition, remove the nonbreaking space according to your list of opening:

      & nbsp;

(space added to the display of the forum)

  • Why cannot establish the connection.

    Hello
I'm new to weblogic and jdeveloper and now I try to deploy FOD (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/samples/fod/index.html) on a Linux Server (Jdeveloper runs on the same server), but can't connect to localhost. When I check the connection to 127.0.0.1 on port 7101, he always complains that:

    JSR-160 LENGTH tests... failed.
    Cannot establish the connection.
    JSR-160 DomainRuntime... skipped tests.
    JSR - 88... skipped tests.
    JSR-88-LOCAL... skipped tests.
    JNDI... skipped tests.
    JSR-160 tests edit... skipped.
    Tests of HTTP... success.
    Test server MBeans model... skipped.

but the Web site: http://127.0.0.1:7101 / console are available, anyone know why?
    Thank you.

You are not able to establish a connection between jdev and the right of the server. If so, you must add an entry with the ip address and the host name of the server in the host C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file.

  • If I do a backup of my favorites, or export them as html, Windows 8, I can use the file in linux?

I am moving from windows to linux and I want to keep my favorites

Hi anderhm, yes the bookmarks.html file you can export work cross-platform. You can also migrate to other data and customization of your firefox profile: retrieve data from an old profile

  • Trying to simply open a .html file using file:// on Linux - it is adding an extra slash and do not find the file

Ideally, I would like to be able to launch Firefox from my Linux command line and just open a file html on my hard drive. Not knowing the exact syntax and do not receive a love on my first attempts, instead, I launched Firefox and typed file://path/to/myfile.html in the address bar. However, instead of seeking to "path/to/myfile.html" Firefox is adding an extra slash and declare that it does not find ' / path/to/myfile.html'. I tried a few variations but seem not to be able to work around this problem.

    Any suggesstions?

The file: Protocol takes 3 slashes after the colon for some reason any.

Is your shell allow you to right click on the file and open it in Firefox? That would be the quick and dirty way to discover the path that prefer Firefox.
