  BUT you would not use bbUI for the user interface, you would use stunts. I really have an example in our GitHub repo, and another I'm open sourcing in the next day or so.

I myself remember how an amoled display would drain battery when rendering a light interface and I was wondering if the same applied to the screen used on the Thinkpad.

  ThinkPad 10 has low resolution LCD display (no AM / OLED), so that the backlight is turned on all the time regardless of the composition of the photo.

  BTW, this is an interesting aspect of the OLED displays from the point of view developer application

• Lost password for bbidtoken.csk and the need to update the app on the app world

  You can check if the BlackBerry ID accounts are looking at the package-author-Id value in the MANIFEST. MF file in the META-INF directory in the file bar.  You can extract the file with a utility like WinZip archives (BAR files are essentially ZIP files).

• Made on emulator ripple 9860 and real device 9860 user interface is different for blackberry OS 7.0

  I have developed a hybrid application that works fine on Android for almost all the resolutioh which I have supported.

  For blackberry, I am building and pacakging an application using the ant tool. During the installation of file .cod devive 9860 having OS 7.0, landing page UI get distorted. Running on the ripple 9860 device, UI reneders correctly.

  Please clarify that ripple is to check the user interface on differnet devive resolution or just for the pacaging and building application.

  Usually the user interface between ripple and a device will be, although there may be small differences. Remember that the unit is running the BlackBerry WebKit application on an ARM architecture, while the ripple uses the implementation of WebKit in Chrome on an architexture that corresponds to your operating system. While the bot Webkit implementations, there may be differences in the way they make; all the more up-to-date the implementation on OS 7.0, your implementation of desktop browser is likely.

  That being said, there is not usually very big differences; specifically, you mentioned the word distorted. Could you provide a comparison of the screenshot of what you're talking about?

  In most cases, ripple should provide solid representation, but is always recommended to test on a simulator/device.

• Tap not triggered if the interaction has begun the upper bezel of the events

  I develop a HTML5 / game WebWorks. The user must touch and move items to complete the game.

  I noticed, that when touch starts from the upper bezel and the finger moves down on the screen, no key event is fire.

  If something is near the top of the screen, it is actually quite common, the Unit considers that a key started the bezel, and the app is completely unaware on the finger movement.

  Is there a way to tell the webworks engine not to consume the events if they left the upper bezel?

  They all get fired if I touch the bezel left / right.

  I would appreciate greatly any help!

  Just as a reference: I managed to make it work, so that I have revceive touch events even if the interaction begins the upper bezel.

  I've converted the hybrid application and push touch events form cascades to the WebView control. There is a lot of work, but it can be done .

  I converted an Android .apk in one. BB10 .bar using command line and installed on a device BB10 Alpha Dev Tools B.

  It returns an error to an AJAX call (this is a hybrid application written using HTML5 and Java). Alerts JS are not all useful information to the error callback (using jQuery 1.7.2). I have add the URL to the white list of config.xml so not sure if it is used in .apk-> .bar conversion.

  How to find the log files (Android, logcat would be)?

  I tried using blackberry connect and ssh and searched/accounts/1000 for the app, but was unable to locate him.

• Ripple error deployment to the simulator fails

  Hi, I'm taking my first steps in development of BB. My company asked me to do a BB - app with IBM work lamp. I installed the SDK Webworks, waving and a BB Simulator (model 9900). I also added the necessary environment variables on Windows 7. I did a hybrid application that contains the html, css and javascript. After the creation and deployment of the local console of the work light, I can open the app with ripple. After the start of the services, I can pack and start the work of packing App., but the deployment on the simulator fails. I get the following error:

  stderr: CreateProcessW: the system cannot find the specified file.

  I solved my problem by choosing another Simulator, 9860-model. Ripple now starts the Simulator, which is extremely slow. The hotswap function crashes immediately, but the Simulator works with my application. However I am concerned that blackberry development tools is so buggy. But as long as I don'tn use the simulator that's good enough.

  Its disappointing to have paid more than $700 for a tablet that has all these strange hybrid applications that don't work very well.

  It is third-party publishers to create these applications. Microsoft has no power over them. I suspect that Spotify, Pandora, and Temple Run will come (given that Windows Phone 8 applications exist or are under development). Facebook, why don't you just use in the browser and get the full experience? Also: You know that you can lock the start screen on Facebook to make it act as an app?

• How to upgrade to the latest version of PhoneGap (cli - 6.3.0)?

  I want to upgrade the version of PhoneGap cli - 5.2.0 to cli - 6.3.0 for my hybrid application. According to the documentationPhoneGap, adding the following preference in my file config.xml should suffice; but it does not work for me.

  When I download my code with the updated config.xml file, the generation is no shortage but the PhoneGap version is not updated either.

  I solved this in deletion and recreation of my application to build.phonegap.com/apps.

• Newbie design question

  Try to understand how it works under the covers, so I can make better design decisions.

  I understand that phonegap is basically web browser running your application on the phone. When you build your installation iphone (I've never done that), is that basically take all your web stuff (files, html, images, js, etc) and wrap them as an "application" and put them on the phone of the person (in your "app") and run the whole thing locally (via phonegap) as a web server? That means that when you load index.html, it loads a local copy (on the phone) and not a http://mywebsite/index.html version.

  If this is the case, then I guess that means php calls are made via ajax or something, to my external Web server, and I guess I have to whitelist (I read that somewhere) or something.

  but the main key, I guess, is that the app on the phone seems to work a browser and small database web server too?

  Not quite.

  Assets (html, js, css, graphics) is stored in the app bundle and displayed in a native Webview component.

  There is no local server involved.

  PhoneGap is just the tool. It prepares your hybrid application signed .apk, .ipa, etc.

  PhoneGap is not active at run time! There is just a piece of javascript, which is included in your assets, to act as a bridge between your local native javascript and plugins.

  Scripts on the server side are to perform on a remote server on communication ajax (or via a socket). You design your app server MVC - ish.
