  We have implemented a hyperic server in AWS.

  We have a lot of remote sites with a server on site. Each site has its own public static IP address.

  Here is how we have implemented hyperic right now:

  agent.setup.camIP = static public IP of the server in AWS

  agent.setup.camSSLPort = 7443

  agent.setup.camSecure = yes

  agent.setup.camLogin = login

  At each site, we have a router that port forwarding on the server. If each server is behind a router and has private static IP such as 192.168.30.101

  We have no problem setting up hyperic on the local server, the problem is that Hyperic HQ is overwhelming the servers. He takes the static private ip address and keep overwriting the latest version of the server.

  Even if we have different server names and the public IP address different when we put in place the agent, once we have put in place the agent and he start shooting the metrics, hyperic just replaces the last installed server monitoring.

  This could be referred as "PIN to a specific IP address" that is required when a platform has multiple NICs or IP address addresses and is accomplished by adding additional guidance to the agent.properties file. Because you specified a specific port of installation, it is better to pin which as well.

• Is it possible to add servers phycical with Hyperic (physical system EMC AVAMAR) to vROPs?

  Just a quick question on vRealize Operation Manager and Hyperic.

  We have a few physical machines with Hyperic top (a physical EMC AVAMAR system). You can import these physical machines in vROPs for tracking (using the Hyperic management plugin)?

  Things I've read imply that the system works to linking the Hyperic metrics to the UUID of a virtual computer object that is provided by vCenter. This will make me thing if the system (that you want to monitor) is not a virtual machine, then you cannot use Hyperic with vROPs. But nowhere explicitly say that physical machines can be monitored with Hyperic and vROPs.

  Yes, you can monitor physical machines with Hyperic and vROPs, but you won't get UUID and therefore you will not see the relationship between the OS and VM in vROPs.

  Hyperic supports only Postgres and vPostgres 9.1.x as a back-end server database.

  SMV has warehouses of data as their child object in the vCenter adapter.

  But after config instance Hyperic adatper, these relationships are lost.

  For example,.

  -Until the problem: VM (vCenter adapter) - data store (vCenter adapter)

  -After the problem: VM (vCenter adapter) - OS (Hyperic adapter)

  -What I expected: VM (vCenter adapter) - OS (Hyperic adapter) and Datastore (adapter vCenter) = vC Ops average 5.8.x

  Anyone facing this problem?

• Hyperic 5.8.4 does support Exchange 2013?

  The Hyperic 5.8.4 doc says it supports until 2010, but when I look in the Hyperic 5.8.4 metric models has a model for 2013?

  When I install the 5.8.4 Hyperic agent on a server Exchange 2013, it does not automatically discovered Exchange?

  Any thoughts?

  In a few words to monitor Exchange 2013 you must:

  1. Run agent hyperic service windows as a domain user.
  2. Domain user; should have all the relevant permissions that I described in my post

  If you have another one please problem run the following command from the hyperic agent directory and attach created debug.log

• Should Hyperic 5.8.4 create automatically relationship the computer object virtual vROPS?

  I installed Hyperic 5.8.4 and deployed an officer to a MS SQL VM.  Hyperic discovered, I added it to the inventory, and vROPs sees the various OS and VM, including SQL applications.   However, the Windows operating system and apps are not associated to the object vROPs vSphere VM.   Should Hyperic create automatically a relationship between the VM discovered Hyperic and vROPs/vSphere?  If so, what might be missing?

  I just thought the screenshot you sent me, and I think it's just HOW you are looking at it. If you are using the troubleshooting > the metrics tab, you will see Hyperic relationships. You probably don't have your relationships build properly.

  Create a dashboard with widgets of topology or relationships, and you will see these relationships actually exist when you look at the vCenter:VMs or Hyperic objects: Windows. Alternatively, use the tab relationships under Administration... you will see your virtual machines have child objects of the Hyperic agent type. If the data is there, it's just a matter of how you look at what it is what "seems" as if relations are not there (but they are).

• Installation of the Hyperic Agent on Windows

  I'm looking for documentation advance right, or maybe an article blog or post on how install the Windows Agent so that I can monitor metrics OS invited by Hyperic.  Needless to say that the documentation is really bad and I'm having a lot of problems just trying to install the agent.  The installation of the server, if done correctly, was child's play.

  Here's a quick list of operations to be performed if you are ok with the default settings.

  Open port 2144 in Windows Firewall if necessary

  Unzip the agent in a directory without spaces in the path.  Preference in C:\

  Launch a command with administrator permissions window

  Navigate to the bin of the Agent directory

  Run the following commands

  HQ - agent.bat install

  departure from HQ - agent.bat

  You will be prompted to enter the information necessary to configure the agent to communicate with the HQ Server

  You can take most of the defaults except the IP/hostname of the server, name of user and password.

  Also enter 'Yes' to the last guest on the Hyperic trust Server

  I was sent Hyperic 5.8.2 and vCOPs last Beta Build 2068011 release then installed Version the Hyperic inside adapter.

  VCOPs, I only see metric of resources that I picked up in Hyperic, even if Hyperic collects data. Can someone explain why?

  You shouldn't be scared

  In hyperic UI go > Administration > followed by default

  Find your resource (for example Linux) > change the metric model

  Search for your metric > indicator column = YES

  BTW,

  I don't see your settings in my environment.

• There is no process running hyperic in the log file...

  We just install fresh copy of Hyperic. Very few things configured on it, no agents are still deployment.

  We noticed that hyperic Server tries to connect to multiple servers and check is agent installed or not.

  We have identified logs on multiple servers looking like this 'cat /var/log/get_hyperic_status_20141020075055.log' where says:

  There is no process running hyperic, looking for a file of markers to see if we saw the agent on this virtual machine running in the past

  Marker file not found, agent is not installed on this virtual machine.

  
  

  Why Hyperic tries to connect random servers and how we can disable that?

  We will install agents on some hosts, but we do not want that Hyperic is circumventing the random network servers and ping?

  You have vCenter Infrastructure Navigator (NIV) deployed in your environment?

  From 5.7 WINE we have added the ability to check if a Hyperic Agent is installed on the client using VMware tools.

  There is a Setup log detailed which can provide more information.

  What installer did you use? The number of REVOLUTIONS or the tar.gz version?

  It could be a number of things:

  Make sure that the installer is not running as root.  Create another account which can be used for installing and running the Hyperic server.

  Make sure that during decompression (tar zxvf) make sure you do not unzip using the root account.

  Can connect to the DB using a client such as PGAdmin or DB Viewer?
