The function keys f1, f2 are designed to work only with the fn key.  But, normally, we use the function keys f1, f2 etc. more often than the adjustment of brightness, volume control etc.; / I would like to change the key option based.  Is this possible.  In other words, I should be able use the function keys f1, f2 etc. without pressing the fn key?

install windows with the product key

someone I gifted an old laptop with a lot of things about what I don't want and stuff I want is missing. I would like to know how to re - install windows on the laptop with the product key on the back of my laptop.

or, even better, if someone could find me a way to get a disk to restore to factory without purchasing information, which would be awsome.

I thank you for your time and have a good day.

If the laptop is one of the well known brands, he may well have a restore partition.  If you do not have a manual to the user of this computer, then go to the manufacturers website and look for the documentation.  At the very least, you should be able to find information about how to restore the laptop from the recovery partition.

If the restore partition has been decimated, the manufacturer may still have available for a nominal cost of installation diskettes.

    Hi yayatisharma,

Product key Finder programs are USELESS for Vista computers preinstalled, as they find the product key of plant manufacturers, which is used for installations of mutiple during Assembly of the computer.

This key will not help you reinstall Vista!

If you communicate with HP they will post you Recovery DVD for a low price to reinstall Vista and they do NOT require a product key

Or ask the use of the recovery Partition, which must be copied to the hard drive HP

This should be configurable. Come on, please don't play with the function keys. We need for programming and many other productivity software where these function keys used regularly. I hope that there could be some obscure settings I can you to reverse this relationship, I want to say I press the fn key only if I need to access the features of HP spare put on the function keys, not the other way around.

  • Is there a way where I don't have to use the "Fn" key for the function keys?

If I use my computer hp laptop with Windows 7 that has the standard PS/2 keyboard. I'm just annoyed by the fact that I have to press the "Fn" with the function keys. I searched some of the settings to see if I could find a sort of toggle keys to function or something, but I couldn't find something that seems to help. If someone knows a solution, please answer. Thank you!

  • HP Envy 17: Reverse the function keys

    Hey guys,.

My laptop is a very good laptop, with a good graphics card nvidia an i7 cpu and even 16 GB of ram. Even with a 17 inch screen full HD 1920 * 1080, making incredible games! Even GTA V for Pc works quite well on this laptop powerful.

All of these things are an amazing gaming PC, however, it has a match no one back which makes it almost impossible to play a game with good fluidity.

Present a defect of fatal game is actually the keyboard, but to be more precise, it is the function keys. The HP Envy 17 has two F1 - F12 and INSERT key. However, these are the secondary keys. Primary keys are keys system that changes the brightness or volume. That means if I want to use F2 in a game, I have to hold the function key, and then press F2.

This seems minor, but when you play, it can be annoying to have to hold down a function key just to use one of the F keys.

Dies, does anyone know how to get this fixed and reverse the trend, in this way if I want to cut my cell phone that I have to press the function, then the F6 key. I hope that people know what I mean and please if you know of a fix would be great if you could post it below.

    Thank you
    Connor Burnett.

    Hello

Yes, I used the F1 - F12 keys on a daily basis for the last 35 years or so, but fortunately I always use external keyboards using laptops (on or off a docking station). You may not share, but disable. Please use the following article:

  • Re: How to change its use of the function keys?

The function keys on my laptop P870 are keys to double action. You must press the FN key at the same time as the key function F1, F2. In particular, I use the F2 key a lot but have to use 2 hands (unless you have extremely long fingers) to operate the function keys driving me crazy.

    Any suggestions?

If you use open Office assist Win8 > system settings > keyboard and function keys mode change.
Change of cell function special mode reboot and test how it works.

Is there a documentation about the configuration of the function keys (program).

Dell Dimension 1400, model XP SK8110 keyboard.   Yes, I know there are 7 years old, but running like a champ.

    Hello

You can use various function keys to activate certain features and commands only. The following list details the current functions keys, what they do, and when you can use them.

Three keys can be used when Setup is loading and when you are prompted to press the F6 function key to install some third-party small computer system interface () SCSI and host controller drivers:

    • F5 - for computer type or hardware abstraction layer (HAL) selection
    • F6 - to install the SCSI controller drivers and third-party host
    • F7 - to run Setup without Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI)

When the "Welcome" screen is displayed, the following function keys can be used:

    • F2 - to automatically start the process (ASR, Automated System Recovery).
    • F10 - to bypass the menu screens and to load the Recovery Console

During the GUI (GUI) - Mode Setup, the following function keys can be used:

    • SHIFT + F10 - to enable access to a prompt during the installation in graphical Mode
    • SHIFT + F11 - to display "old" wizards that give more detail.

Thus, it is not possible to configure the function keys to perform this task. However, you can use your favorite search engine to perform this task.

Warning: Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

  • How to turn off the function keys? G62-346NR

Hey all, I just signed up to please bare with me if I posted this in the wrong section, thank you!

Anyway, I got want to disable my function keys upper (F1-12) that I'm a player and it requires that the function keys, but it doesn't seem to work in the game, so he just activates the function of the selected key. Then, I looked everywhere and I can't find the manual for this laptop, so I wondering if anyone of you guys/girls know how to disable the function.

    Thank you!

In the BIOS there is a configuration tab. Inside, there is an option to toggle the mode of action of Fn keys. Maybe it's interfering with your game mode. Try disabling it to see if it helps. If yours has an InsydeH2O BIOS then it should substantially the same as this picture.

  • XPS 13 9343 change the function keys

I would like to change/disable the function keys on my XPS 13.  All searches on Google I've seen indicate that you can do this via a setting in the BIOS, but the BIOS EFI in my laptop has no entry to change the function keys.  Is there another way?

OK, finally figured this out... post here so I hope that it helps someone else.

All my research on this indicated that I had to change a setting in BIOS under the section 'System Configuration '.  Obviously this option asked, at least on the A07 BIOS on my XPS 13 9343.  The option that you need to change is now 'Behaviour of PUBLICATION'.  Select "Options of the FN lock" and make sure that "FN lock is verified (it should be... is the default) then be sure to Lock Mode Enable/secondary is selected.»  It is he who turns off the "multimedia" keys  Enjoy.  :)
