I can no longer access my hard drive... it seems to me refused me permission...

I tried to block other users on my laptop to open my C drive and I now can't open myself.  When I go to the user accounts, none of the buttons respond to my request.

When I try to open my hard drive, that's what I see... access denied (C :).  I am the administrator.

Hello, shamrock704

Can you access the computer at all?
You can try restoring the system running: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-is-System-Restore

If necessary, you can try booting the installation CD of Windows Vista and the installation screen, click on repair, then perform a restore of the system from there also.

You can also try the steps at the following link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313222

    Hello

I used my external hdd to 4 TB (connected to USB 3.0 to copy data through the CCC on another external hard drive.

Somewhere in the Middle he stopped.

When I try to open the 4 to (by clicking on it) the finder crashes - every time.

I put inside my MP 4 TB hard drive, but the same thing happens. The continuous finder crashing, all the desktop icons disappear and this crash notice window: the last time that you open the Finder it quit unexpectedly...

    and it keeps.

I can access the hard drive via the CCC and copy data from other disks. But there is 3.92 TB of data and I have to first find the space.

In the initialization of the PC world, I would say that the Master Boot Record is damaged. But I don't know what it is on a hard drive to the Mac Format.

Have you tried to run the concerned disk disk utility?

    Hello ShamedMonkey,

Thank you for your message.  The problem you are having is because of differences in formatting between PC and Mac.  You can, however, transfer your files between the two.  I will set out what must be done under and limitations of each.
First, you will need to format the drive on your PC.  When you format the PC, you can format it in FAT32 or NTFS.
(You mentioned that you do not see the drive in the computer) To format drive:
Click 'Start' > right click on 'Computer' > select 'manage '.
    Click on "disk management".
In the right pane, you should see your drive > you can then do a right click and 'format '.
    FAT32:
This format will allow you to easily transfer files between the two.  This format becomes problematic when you transfer files more than 4 G.  There is a limit of 4 GB in FAT32, etc. of many movies are bigger than that and cannot be transferred using this format.
    NTFS
This format has no size limitation, however, in its normal state it will be 'Read only' on Mac.  If you will not be able to transfer all the data itself.  While doing some research on the web, it seems that you can use a program called MacFuse on your Mac to change to NTFS files.  I have not confirmed this, but you can give it a try.  If this program works as planned, it would be the way to go.
Please let us know if it did or did not solve your problem.

  • Pavilion a6500f: can I use my old hard drive as a second drive to the new I install.

I have a Pavilion a6500f I can access is no longer as he continues to tell me there are registry errors.  My recovery disk (I got a) or do a hard reset or else he will start.  It came with a window that says recovery system or start Windows normally.  I get a new hard drive to it and have a whole new Windows 7 installed.  The thing is that I don't want to lose all my stuff on the old hard drive.  So my question is can I install the OLD hard drive as a second drive to the new?  If I can then I can just copy all the files from the old drive to the new and use the old as a memory drive.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    The simple answer is Yes.

    (1) I would like to replace the hard drive with the same drive size or larger. But does not exceed 2 T.

    (2) I hope you made the original recovery DVD set the original recovery firstly, DVD media DVD + R try as these will save you having to create a driver disk.  If you really have to buy a complete set of recovery, get it here. It will have all the necessary drivers.  Only $27.00

    (3) I copy the files and destroy the old disk. Its usefulness is damaged since 2008.

Guess he would seek software/drivers for the chipset MB

& sata/IDE controller software. Get the MB hardware specifications, go to the mfg

Web site & download the software and drivers. If intel, download the chipset installation

utility & install it 1. The other would be the SATA or / and drivers for the MB IDE

controllers, 'Matrix Storage console' would be the one, also chk for desktop

Internet downloads, amd, and other brand materials would be substantially the same.

  • How to access the hard drive USB on E3000? Am I missing something?

I have my router configuration fine to the internet, as well as the media server.  I can't understand how to access the hard drive of my laptop, however.  The manual says to put 192.168.1.1 in the field the address of windows Explorer, but it gives me just the 'Setup' page for the router.

Am I missing something simple?  I use Windows XP.

Click on start - go to start > Run/start search and type "\\192.168.1.1" (without the quotes) and press on enter and it should ask the user name and password, the user name and password, use "admin" all lower case, and then click Ok... Now you should be able to see your USB... You must make a right click on it and select "Map network drive" and check the Enable box and below click Finish... It will map the USB on your computer... Once done, you will be able to send and receive data from your computer to the USB...

  • I am trying to access my hard drive for some records and my file photo in windows vista after it has been formatted.

My laptop after runing battery accident, I cannot restore and re-installed was the only solution, I thought I had backup all files, but my photo files is missing and an other files that were in my office. I need assistance to access the hard drive if possible, I said it can be done.

If you formatted the drive and reinstalled Vista, data is almost certainly lost to conventional methods of recovery...

    You can try this program:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/Recuva.html

Recuva is a file undeletion tool that allows you to analyze your hard drives or media cards for files that have been deleted or formatted. It presents you a list of files that have been found, as well as an assessment of their potential for recovery, a preview option, and a hex viewer to inspect the content. You can limit your search to files of a certain type (e.g. images, audio etc.) and choose between a quick and a thorough analysis approach. The program also includes a secure deletion option that allows you to permanently delete files that were found while parsing, to avoid any future recoveries.

If the above does not resolve the problem, you will need to contact the Date recovery Experts.
Be warned: they are very $$$

  • Cannot access old hard drive

I'm trying to access a hard drive using Windows XP on a portable computer that uses Windows 7. I continue to turn in "inaccessible" and "you don't have the required permissions. When I plug the hard drive via USB to an another computer XP it works fine. I can't find a Security tab allows to work with. I searched and checked other forums who have discussions on this subject and the answers do not help. I'm looking for a free way access.

Originally, none of this has worked. I had accidentally figured it out. I opened it while on a XP computer and now it appears in Windows 7. I still have no idea why.

Yes, you can easily attached an external hard drive via USB 3.0

  • Satellite P200-13Z - upgrade the hard drive - can I use SATA II hard drives?

I have a Satellite P200-13Z with simple standard Fujitsu 120 GB SATA hard drive. I want to change this to a RPM SATA II 250 GB Western Digital 7200 RPM drive. This interface SATA laptop does support SATA II? Thank you very much!

Not your portable computer does not support SATA II.

However, you can buy the SATA II hard drive and put it in your laptop. Only way to get it going is to restrict the new speed of SATA HDD, I accelerate. To do this is to introduce a jumper on the drive to restrict it to SATA I speeds up. Once it's done put in your laptop and viola, it works.

Good luck, but I would like to get a toshiba technician to install it if its under warranty. It's for your own good, so you don't turn your laptop into a boat anchor.
