I can't boot my system when I have an external hard drive connected.

Start with an external hard drive

Recently, I buy a WD MY Book Essential 1 TB external hard drive. I can't the computer to boot while the hard drive is connected.
The Gateway logo appears; If the My Book Essential is connected the computer won't go any further.
IF the My Book Essential is unplugged, by physically unplugging the cable power supply or where the USB 3.0 cable the system starts right in windows.
WD technology say to disconnect the drive when I stopped and when I start taking the computer to the external hard drive. For me, it makes no sense, there must be a better way.

It seems that I solved my own question. I disabled Legacy USB Support and now the computer starts windows. I take a bit of time and the extra minute or more, but it won't in windows and now I'm happy.

Thanks for your help

Hello

Go into your Bios by pressing DEL, F2, etc. at startup.

Look at the bottom of the start screen for the right for the installation key or BIOS.

Wait your boot order Options.

You will probably find that the boot (or words like that) USB devices are listed as 1st in the boot order.

Replace the hard drive to be 1st in the boot order.

See you soon.

I created a folder music on an external hard drive connected to my asus router.  I copied my music from my iTunes library in this folder access and can now my kodi media network.  How I updated the folder when I do new iTunes purchase without having to do it one by one thanks

You can use a backup tool that updates only modified files.  You don't say what kind of computer you use.

ITunes is actively using media on the external hard drive so you can replace it. Simply copy the media to one other player does not have iTunes it use it.  iTunes is probably still using media to your internal drive.

  • Can I use time capsule from Apple and an external hard drive that is connected to my Mac at the same time to save?

I have an external hard drive (1 TB ADATA HV620) and a time capsule of Apple 2009. So far I have used the external drive-DATA to back up regularly on my Mac, but it uses one of my USB slots. I would like to start using the time capsule from Apple to everything back up, as it does so wireless, but I still want to be able to back up by using the ADATA hard drive occasionally. Is it possible to use two devices to back up or can I use only one device? Thank you.

You can use the two devices, but Time Machine... If that's what you use to back up... can back up only to a disc at a time. So if you set up Time Machine to back up on both discs, it will support drive until one first, then the other after the first drive of the backup is complete.

As I only have the version of the EP, here is some info on the organiser:

    https://helpx.Adobe.com/Photoshop-elements/how-to/use-elements-Organizer.html

Independent of how this feature works, you want to have your photos in one place and have a backup (second copy) somewhere else. All hard drives will not be successful at some point - some more early, some late - never trust to have your files in any safety devices if they are on a single disc. Once you have your sorted, it would be useful that you will organize/name/tag new photos immediately if the task is relatively short and simple. I copy my photos on my internal hard drive for my camera, take a quick look with preview to see who needs some changes and then decide where to put them - either drop them immediately after naming them or bring in an editing application and then file them away.

  • 1720 smart hard drive detects imminent failure. do backup - how can I move my files when I get a new hard drive?

Hi, I have "1720 smart hard drive detects imminent failure" made a backup, Gather I have to get another drive. How can I transfer my windows vista / files to new drive? Help, please.

    Hello

There are different ways to do

and these methods depend on your hard drive work

hard drive manufacturers will normally provide the cloning to move your operating system software from the old to the new drive hard If your old hard drive still works

Search for information on this subject on their Web site

If you have vista business or ultimate, you can use the builtin vista complete PC Backup to move

    read the information below

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial145.html

or if you have vista home version you'll need 3rd party software

link below is an example of this:

    http://www.Acronis.com/homecomputing/products/TrueImage/index.html

also to put your machine how you bought:

    1. If vista is preinstalled, you should have a recovery on your old hard drive partition

You can recovery disks to reinstall on your new drive hard If the old drive still works

ask the manufacturer of the machine how

    2. contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

    3. or borrow a microsoft dvd vista

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

  • Dual-boot Windows XP is installed on the external hard drive

My computer has Windows XP and Windows 7 installed. I added a hard drive with Windows XP is already installed on the computer.

In order to access additional hard drive, I need to change the priority of the hard drive in the BIOS.

Is it possible to add a boot option to the Boot Manager screen so that I can boot from the additional hard disk without modifying the BIOS settings?

First of all, to the best of my knowledge you should not change anything in the bios to access the external drive.

Second, if Xp has not been installed on the external hard drive while the drive is connected to the computer in question it will not be loaded. Simply, it does not work like that. Even if you install Windows on the outside when it is connected to your computer, I don't think it must configure the boot.ini file, giving you the ability to dual boot when the computer is turned on. You can boot from the external drive provided however your bios supports booting from a usb key. I think that to accomplish what you want, you will need to remove the hard drive of the external envelope and attach it to your computer using an eSATA cable. Then it will be recognized as a regular system disk.

  • Can I use a time capsule airport as my external hard drive?

I have all the products in my house, 5 iPhones apple, 2 MacBooks, an iPad and an apple tv Setup.

1 first question is the will of the time capsule (I'm looking at the version of 3 TB) Act as my external hard drive?

2.second the capsule is essentially like a wireless router? If so,is the wifi for your apple products much better? If anyone could break it down into secular terms and highlight some of the advantages and disadvantages , I'd greatly appreciate it.

(If your wondering I use my Macbook to store a LOT of music, photos, and surf the internet).

Purchase of a disk external drive for my Macbook Pro is on the top of my to do list, I currently don't have 15 GB of free storage. I know that's not enough space for the computer to function properly. I definitely don't want what I just bought in March. Im trying to learn more about this kind of thing would have made very different when buying my Macbook if I could go back to March.I would be easily paid for the 256 GB of flash storage and would have probably just waited to buy it at all, until the so-called new macbook arrives soon.

Once again thank you to all those who can help you!

    Mr.705

1 first question is the will of the time capsule (I'm looking at the version of 3 TB) Act as my external hard drive?

Although the Capsule is primarily designed to be used in conjunction with Time Machine for backups, it can be used as a network drive for file storage.

2.second the capsule is essentially like a wireless router?

He does. In simple terms, you can think of the time Capsule as a wireless router with an Ethernet switch and HDD.

If so,is the wifi for your apple products much better?

Not really. Your Apple products are designed to work with routers wireless of any manufacturer, not only those provided by Apple. However, Apple routers are simple to implement and the application to administer is available on both the Mac and iOS devices. There is a version that works on Windows PCs, but is currently outdated and does not support to administer the current base station 802.11ac airport.

I recently formatted a WD external hard drive via my computer vista laptop. I downloaded several MB of files on the hard drive. My Vista laptop crashed and I need a new hard drive. • How can I restore favorites... accidentally deleted the external hard drive!

I have recently reinstalled Windows and IE8, but before I did, I saved all my files on an external hard drive.  My computer upward and the race and then began to manually recover my files from my hard drive.  Thinking that I had recovered everything what I needed/wanted, I then deleted everything on my external hard drive.  Unfortunately, I forgot to copy my favorites on my computer!

Is it possible that I can get back my (old) Favorites from a previous installation of WIndows on my computer?

In addition, in recent days, I have placed thousands of files in the Recycle Bin and have deleted however, I've heard that the files that are deleted in a computer can be recovered, but I don't know how to do this.  My old favorites would be there somewhere?

You can also to the above questions, Microsoft stores my old favorites anywhere in their system as my username/password?  If there is anyway to recover my old favorites, I of course would like to learn to do this, because at the moment, I have no basics!  Well sad really. I should have been paying attention to what I was doing!

    Hi Arlywig,

Once removed the HDD data can't be recovered. However, you can use your favorite search engine to browse third-party data recovery software and use this software to recover data.

Note:   software use of third parties, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • How can I access my Microsoft Virtual PC on an external hard drive with Windows Virtual PC on my new computer?

For a few years, I have been using a set of VPC on external hard drives (.vmc files both .vhd located on external drives) with the Microsoft Virtual PC/Virtual PC Console on a Windows XP computer. They worked perfectly.

However, I just bought a new computer with Windows 7, and I'm unable to access the VPC on the external hard drive. I installed successfully, Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP mode on the computer, and I copied the file to the host machine's .vmc. However, when I try to open the virtual computer, I get a message saying that the VPC was "impossible to write in one of its virtual hard disks.

I've tried everything I can think of, but the only thing that works is to copy the .vmc and .vhd in the computer file. The problem is that I use the VPC for training online, and I have 16 of them. If I copy everything in the computer, I will use all 500 GB of disk space.

There must be a way to access the VPC for external drives. If I can do it on the old XP computer, it should be possible to do it on the new Windows 7 computer.

    Help, please.

    Thank you!

  • I can't save the file to my external hard drive connected to my wireless router!

I have a wireless router netgear WNDR3700 with 'plug-and-play' feature that allows a home to simply connect your hard drive to your network. I managed it to get up and running, but I encountered some problems when I tried to save files on the disk. The strange thing is that I can copy and paste or move the files to the location that I want to but I can't save it there... I have windows 7 Professional 64-bit installed.

    I thought about it :)

In the folder "My Computer" and under "Network location" I clicked on my external hard drive. Just below the navigation bar, I clicked on 'Map network drive' I entered all the information of location on hard disk and I got another file under "network location". I deleted the old one and used a new one that I could use without any problems until now... hope this makes sense...
