I can't copy video files to my iMac dvd .vob

I have a video that has been recorded on a dvd from a video camera and cannot find a way to copy it to my hard drive to the Mac i. When I look in the Finder on the file in my external dvd player, it says the film is a .vob file. How can I copy it on my Mac and El Capitan what program should I use?

As long as this isn't a video commercial and protected just drag it from the DVD in your Macs movie folder, or wherever you choose to put it, and open it with VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

need help please... thank you in advance.

If the DVD is "not" a commercial copy protected DVD...
the following steps may be worth a try:

When you insert the DVD in your DVD player... close
all the windows that can open and then go to... Start /.
Computer... right click the icon for the DVD player
is located in, and then select Explore or open to view the
Directory of the DVD.

The files you need from the DVD are the. VOB files.
You will find them in the VIDEO_TS folder. Copy them
in a folder on your hard drive. Or you can copy the
full VIDEO_TS folder.

First... just try to rename one of the. VOB files to
. MPG or. AVI and see if it will matter in Movie Maker.
If import works... drag the file to the timeline and
Economy/publication it to .wmv or .avi format. Then...
Re - import new video from .wmv to for editing.
(Note: in Windows 7 you may be able to import the)
VOB files in Movie Maker just as they are)

(FWIW... you can probably play the files renamed
in Windows Media Player to be sure that VOB
file to edit)

If you are unable to import the files they need to be converted
another .wmv format would be a good choice.

There are many programs that can do conversions...
The following freeware is an example...:

Format Factory
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Format_Factory
(the 'direct link' is faster)
(the file you want to download is: > FFSetup260.zip<>
(FWIW... installation..., you can uncheck
('all' boxes on the last screen)

First, you will need to decompress the file or just open the
Drag FFSetup260.exe out of the folder
and drop it on your desktop. To install left click.

Next, after the download and installation of Format
Factory... you can open the program and
left click on the toolbar, the "Option" button and
"Select an output folder to" / apply / OK.
(this is where you find your files after they)
are converted)

Drag and drop your video clips on the main screen...

Select "all to WMV" / OK...

Click on... Beginning... in the toolbar...

That should do it...

Good luck...

How can I transfer video files to the library in windows media player for an external hard drive. My os is Windows XP Home Edition and I use wmp 11.

You have to locate the files on your internal hard drive, using the Explorer, then drag and drop them on the hard drive. If you don't know where they are on your hard drive, right click on the video file in the library and choose the location of the opened file.

• How can I copy large files (> 15 GB) on several CDs or DVDs using features in Windows 7?

How can I copy large files (> 15 GB) on several CDs or DVDs using features in Windows 7? I tried Media Player, but simply, he stops and tells me that the file I copy is great. I am looking for a way that will tell me to enter another dissk and continue copying until the file has copied at the end.

You need to split the file into segments that will be adapted on the disks you are using.

Windows has no characteristic that will do this for you. You can get a BluRay drive and disc http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc, when you should be able to fit on a single disk file.

A few months to go I played around and tried different things and it works now, I do not remember how

Hello

I suggest trying the steps and check if that helps.

(a) launch RealPlayer. Click on 'file', then click 'Add files to my library', a dialog box opens.

(b) navigate to the location of the video (s) you want to import.

(c) click on the video file, and then click on 'Open, ' or hold down the 'Ctrl' key and click several files, then click "Open".

Note: To add all the videos in a folder, hold down "Ctrl-A", then click on 'Open'. The imported videos are now in 'my library' of RealPlayer.

If you need help with RealPlayer, you can contact the support of Real Player.

I don't think that what you're trying to do is possible with any of the importing C++ API; those who allow developers to write support for file formats that body can't stand already...

If you try to import files that can already understand, a HTML5 (JavaScript) - Basic Panel is the right approach.

How can I selectively transfer files from an iMac 2009 to a new iMac in 2015? The two running os 10.11.3.

I do it with a G4 OS Tiger and the Mavericks MacBook by plugging into an Ethernet jack on my router and by enabling the sharing of files on the G4 in System Preferences > sharing. If items are placed in a folder called 'Public', it can be read by anyone on the network by logging in as a guest. Otherwise, if I login with my user ID on this computer I get access read/write for all of my folders.

• Micro SD XC questions - can not read video files

Please forgive me for being a noob here on this forum. I did a search and could not find any info on my problem, so I'm posting here now...

I have bad to write video files (MKV, MP4, etc.) to the external mic card SD XC that I use with my SanDisk Media Player. The first few files that I am writing to transfer SD card and play well on the media player and my PC (I use VLC). After about 10 GB or more data has been transferred to the card, copy the files, but they will not play. VLC tells me that he does not support the video format "undf".

I use a SanDisk 64 GB micro SD XC card spec'ed at 30 MB/s (in the format exFAT). I have two of these cards and they both have the same behavior. I also tried the HC cards (formatted NTFS) 128 GB at the same result. Nothing seems to work as expected. What I'm doing here wrong or missing? I faced this problem for weeks and its driving me crazy!

where did you buy in origin? packaging for fake cards look pretty true these days. You can contact sandisk support and they can help authenticate cards.

• How can I move video files in windows Explorer without losing metadata in windows media player?

I'm under WMP 11 Vista. I have a folder that contains the files in my video (AVI for example). I organized videos in WMP by manually changing fields of tag for ratings, artists, genre, etc. I would like to move some video files around in Explorer Windows (in the same drive that is monitored) to arrange my training and records. When I do this, WMP loses track of the video file as the path is no longer correct, so I would like to add back to the library to help add to the library. When I do that, the video appears in its new location, but all the metadata is missing.

Is it possible to move my AVI files to another directory without losing all the metadata, or are never supposed to video files be moved once their metadata has been published in WMP? Can I enter the new path to the file in WMP or something and have it keep its metadata? Or is there a way I can get WMP to store metadata on the AVI files as it does with WMVs?

It seems that there is something missing if metadata of media management is a core feature of WMP and be able to move files autour is a core feature of Windows Explorer, yet the two are not easily compatible.

I want to just move my video files without losing the work that I put in the metadata.

Also, what is the reason have advanced tag editor for music files and video files are not?

Thanks in advance.

It is not possible.

Plug your USB > start > computer > click the flash drive > open folder images > drag and dropn photos images in the flash player.
That's all.

• How can I copy large files of WMC (.wtv) to a flash drive?

I'm trying to transfer your recorded TV, by WMC to broadcasts of the OTA to my desktop PC Windows 7 on a USB flash drive. I'm going to the Public > TV registered and drag a file to an empty 32 GB flash (29 GB available, to FAT32) drive. A dialog box appears indicating that "the XYZ file is too large for the destination file system" and displays a Cancel button. This happens with any file greater than 4 GB, even if the capacity of the flash drive is much larger than the size of the file. I tried to convert a 8 GB in MPEG4 file that reduces the file size less than 4 GB, and it was transferable, but the process is long and tedious.
I want to just copy the file to the flash drive, plug it into my Windows 7 laptop and watch the show. It seems it should be easy. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
