I can't download/upgrade to El Capitan

I'd like to update to El Capitan, however, it is not allow me.

MacBook Air early 2015

Currently on OS X Yosemite 10.10.5

Processor: Intel Core i5 to 1.6 GHz

Memory 4 GB

The App Store says I have no new update available.  The banner of El Capitan in the page of the App Store shows that I 'downloaded' the operating system already.  Then, I click on "Learn more" on the banner and it gives me another option click on 'download '.  I click on it and then the wheel rotates constantly.  I have restarted my computer several times.  I tried clicking on the download from the page «Read more»  And it always leaves me with Yosemite.

What can I do?

Restart the computer

Go to the section of the Mac App Store purchases and see if you can redownload of them.

Go to your Applications folder and look for a file called install OS EL Capitan. If he clicks on it to install it

    Hello

I already bought Apple Pages and Numbers for use on an iMac running El Capitan. Now I upgraded my macbook pro to El Capitan and want to update these programs, but on the App Store, I am only offered a newer version, which requires the Sierra. How can I get the version I need? Thank you, Robert

Have you tried clicking on the icon in the Mac App Store to see what is happening? In the past, the Mac App Store will say that version will not run on your operating system & offer to download the latest compatible version. I don't think this has changed, but I don't have a Mac in El Capitan to try.

  • Can I still upgrade to El Capitan for free?  He says is not available on the App Store!

    Hello

Less than 2 months ago El Capitan was available as a free update.  Today, when I'm ready to upgrade - it is no longer available on the App Store.  What is going on?  Where can I find it?

The App Store has only Sierra, but it is not compatible with Snow Leopard, so I can't update that is.

    Thank you.

  • How can I download upgrade mac worm CS5.5 when I only have windows worm?

I currently have InDesign CS5 on my Windows pc. I paid for a CS5.5 Mac version upgrade and you want to download it on my Power Mac new and delete to always the version of windows on the other computer. I know that mac download will get a CS5 installed in which there is not. I think that there is a way I have a chance to enter the serial number manually but do not know about you. I don't have a CD version of mac, windows. If it came at the same time, I honestly don't know where the drive is. All my software is recorded and appears in my account and I know that I can legally swap platforms once, just do not know the procedure here and hoped not to have to spend hours on the phone with Adobe.

    Thank you.

You cannot use a version of Windows as the basis for an upgrade of Mac without having to purchase directly from Adobe by phone.

Yesterday, I downloaded the upgrade to El Capitan in a Mac Pro (early 2008) running Yosemite 10.10.5, and today I can not start the upgrade.

The only option I have found is to click again on the download button, but the circle of download rest bike for a long time and ultimately that nothing happens.

    See if that helps...

Start with CMD + r or the Option/alt key to boot from the recovery partition & use utility disk from there to repair the disk, and then repair permissions.

    Hello nancy milano,.

Thanks for this info and choosing the communities Support from Apple. I know how important is able to complete your update to El Capitan at a later date! The good news is that you can simply delete the "install Mac OS X" install app in the Applications folder on your Mac. Then you can open the Mac App Store when you're ready to update and restart the download from the tab updates or searching through the Mac App Store for El Capitan. This is a resource that explains the process of update more:

  • Are older OS is available for download to be able to upgrade to El Capitan?

I'm selling my MacBook Pro for mid-2009 originally shipped with Lion. Years, I bought the discs for Snow Leopard, but they are in my home country (I'm an expat). I will be to reformat the hard drive, but if I reinstall the OS using the original disks of Lion it won't do any good buyer if they want something more recent, such as El Capitan (I upgraded the RAM to 8 GB and 1 TB hard drive.)

I think that Snow Leopard is available for purchase on disc, not for download. There is no official presence of Apple in the developing/third-world country where I live. I don't know if Apple will be available here, how much it would cost, or how long it would take.

Is it possible to buy a download of Lion or Lion MTN. in order to have a basis on which the buyer with their own Apple ID can be upgraded to El Capitan?

The base OS only that they need is Snow Leopard, which is only available on DVD; It is not possible for a pre-2010 Mac Internet Apple system recovery, so they would need to have a physical installation disc where the drive goes down.

It is also not possible to transfer a Lion or Lion of the mountains to them in this way. If you buy a download code for each operating system, you will not be able to a thumbdrive installation of them without make up the code in your Apple ID, preventing him being transferred to them.

  • After the installation of the El Capitan, I can't download my apps.

    Hello!!

    I need your help.

This weekend, I decided to upgrade my imac (mid 2011) to the new OSX El Capitan. (I've been on Yosemite)

I did a clean install via USB.

Unfortunately, I do not have time to record requests.

Now, I can not download my apps.

Store Apple ask me to pay for them (iworks, mplayerx, etc.)

I'm trying to take care of them in my time capsule, but there seem to be empty.

    Can you help me?

    Thank you very much.

    Damien.

Be sure to connect to the App Store with the Apple ID, you used when you make a purchase. Then go to the tab purchased for the apps you previously purchased.

How to download pictures from an iPhone to Adobe Bridge now, I upgraded to El Capitan?

That would be a question for Adobe

You can download certainly to disc using Image capture, then use Adobe Bridge - on the direct I doubt you can, but you need to talk to Adobe supprot to see what options they offer access

  • Upgrade to El Capitan prevented Trusteer work report. IBM doesn't seem to be able to help. What can I do? Thank you

Upgrade to El Capitan prevented Trusteer report to work on my Mac from Apple.

IBM does not seem to be able to help, but they try.  What can I do?

My Bank cries for me to download the safety report.

    Thank you

A lot of banks try to encourage users to install report of Trusteer, without insisting actually install you it. There are many reports on here noting the problems it causes.

I installed once and has experienced many problems with Safari. As soon as I uninstalled it, everything is back to normal. Here is a link to uninstall if you decide to get rid of the buggy software: http://www.trusteer.com/support/uninstalling-rapport-mac-os-x

  • How can I get CS6, esp. of Photoshop, to run correctly after the upgrade to El Capitan?

I upgraded to El Capitan and had the weirdness in all CS 6 applications, but Photoshop 6 is the worst. It barely runs. What I can do. If I need to reinstall, how can I do that when I don't have the disks - I had download applications like Adobe stopped providing disks when I bought the upgrade to 6.

I think you should contact Adobe directly thereon, unless a member of the staff of Adobe here can answer.

(I don't think you need to wipe your hard drive clean, you can uninstall the creative cloud app.)

  • Recently upgraded to El Capitan, I had that problem for Mail stop unexpectedly when I saw some posts.  I followed the steps and was able to remove the trouble messages.   Now I can't restore the mail window message viewer component.

Recently upgraded to El Capitan, I had that problem for Mail stop unexpectedly when I saw some posts.  I followed the steps and was able to remove the trouble messages.   Now I can't restore the mail window message viewer component.  When I try to catch the separator bar to go back to the left, only half of the small arrow icon and line appears, and it cannot be moved.   Can open the message by double clicking a message viewer.

    Hi there, alicefrompa!

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. From your post, I understand that you do not see the Message Viewer box which allows you to read your e-mails; only see you the Inbox that includes a brief overview of the message and are unable to restore access using the separator bars. I have had this happen to my own Mail app and am happy to let you know how I could fix!

You are really on the right track - you want to roll your mouse over the divider between the Inbox and sections Message Viewer (which should now be on the extreme right edge of your mail window) and drag it to the left.  When you click on the receipt/Message Viewer box, the cursor turns into a line continuous black with a single arrow pointing to the left. When you see the cursor change, click with the left button of the mouse and (while holding down the mouse button in) drag the combination line / arrow to the left. You may need to drag a little further than before to get it. I had to hang mine almost completely in the middle of my Mail app before the display of the message box appeared.

From there, you should be able to adjust the boxes to your widths you want as expected.

If you are still not able to get the display of the messages visible after have try this, here are a few more things that you can do.

    1. Press command + O on your keyboard.
    2. Exit the Mail application, and then press on and hold the SHIFT key on your keyboard while reopening.
    3. Restart your Mac by selecting the menu  Apple in the upper right of your screen restart from the menu drop down.

    See you soon!
