I can't have the firewall to activate. I checked the services and is running and set to auto. I even restarted. If I'm going to start/control panel/security/firewall status it does nothing.

According to the description of the problem, you cannot start the firewall on your Windows 7 computer. The question could be if dependence of the firewall service is not running or get corrupted. It could also be does not work if there is a file system corruption.
Two important dependencies allowing execution of the Windows Firewall service are Base filtering engine (BFE) and remote procedure call (RPC), if none of these two services do not work or are missing or damaged Windows firewall stops working.
Try these steps and see if it helps you to solve the problem.
Method 1
Try the steps below to start and check the status of the dependency for the firewall services.
- Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
- In the Run dialog box, type services.msc.
- Research of Base filtering engine (BFE) and remote procedure call (RPC) service.
- Right-click on each service and start them if they are not running and make sure that the startup type is automatic.
Method 2:
The driver of the authorization (mdsdrv.sys) firewall is a system protected Windows file. Thus, the corruption of the file system could cause this problem. You can run the tool File Checker system and if the file is found to be damaged, it will be replaced.
The file system check is a utility built into the operating system that will check for the corruption of system files. The sfc/scannow command. (System File Check) analyzes the integrity of all protected operating system files and replaces incorrect versions, damaged, altered, or damaged with correct versions where possible.
How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7.
- Go to Start, click all programs and open the Accessories.
- Right-click on command prompt in the list programs, and then select run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click OK.
- In the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

So I'm at the end of my rope with this one... it lasts for months, and I keep revisitng every two weeks to try and fix that and every time to be completely frustrated. I found this forum tonight, so here goes...We downloaded a few games on the HP Games Web site. We download them and everything works fine. Then, we will open the games and this pop up error message:
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You can not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.These games used to run fine, and I have no idea why they now have problems. We have a Vista operating system, 1 account who is the administrator, the Parental control is disabled (or if we believe).
If anyone can please help it would be much appreciated! We have a monthly membership to this site of game and continue to accumulate credits, but may not use it. It makes us crazy!

Thank you for posting. It seems that the program is no longer on your computer. This can happen if the game files are deleted, but the game itself has not been uninstalled correctly. I recommend you to download the game again to a location on your computer where you can easily find and install it. This should fix the problem.
