The Lenovo onekey recovery was accidentally removed from my laptop G570 - which uses a 64-bit Windows 7 system. The Lenovo support section gives two options for restoring onekey to my machine: a 32-bit or a 64-bit.  I choose the 64-bit download and download the driver.  However, it will not be installed and the message comes back on: "this must be installed on a 32-bit program.

Since it is a specialized Lenovo software, you would probably need to speak directly with support from Lenovo.

  • I can't install or uninstall anything on Windows 7

I'm having a really frustrating problem where I can't install or uninstall almost anything and also more updates of windows are defective.  First of all, I thought it was a problem with my hard drive, but I tried, ' chkdsk/f', "chkdsk/r", error reporting, etc.  My hard drive has 58 GB free.

My suspicion is that this has to do with .net 4.0.  I can't uninstall it, because it just hangs.  If I try to uninstall the updates various (e.g. KB2478663), it also blocks.  If I try to install Windows Live Essentials, it fails. If I try to update iTunes, it fails.  If I try to install the drivers for my new HP printers, it fails.
This is an error message that I get when I try to uninstall .net 4.0.
Returned IDOK. INSTALLMESSAGE_ERROR [an error occurred when writing to the installation on the drive information. [Check to make sure space is available and click Retry, or Cancel to end the installation.]
    I tried "sfc/scannow".
Any ideas would be very useful.  In addition, any ideas on how to rule out the possibility that this is a hard drive failure would be useful.

  • Can't install or uninstall non-Windows and related Windows-related programs on the desktop of Windows 7 64 bit

Hi all, on Windows 7 64-bit PC brother Dell, tried to install programs such as AVG Anti Virus, Remote desktop connection update.

Every time we try what is installation hangs and nothing happens, to use the Task Manager to complete not only the program, if it is not there at all, but the actual process.

Same thing happens if we try to uninstall a program.

    Can uninstall in safe mode,

Have tried restore system to a time of ealrier, but the system does not want to do same.

At work after a few weeks, but since then without success.

    I ran SFC/scanow.

No Anti Virus is installed at present. that, like the program, I was able to uninstall in safe mode and using the Norton Uninstall tool.

Tried Mr FixIt, but nothing helped.

What else can I try before I go to the extreme of a new facility? Looks like a problem with the Windows Me installation program.

Restore to factory state out of the box. Can I install all updates from Microsoft using Windows update or can I install antivirus first before to connect to internet?

Currently Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 x 86 (no patches since 2008). Currently, it has no AV and has not been connected to the internet yet. It will be behind a router.

I had to redo the factory already reset after be connected to the net for 20 minutes and then a bunch of programs kept crashing saying Data Execution Prevention had to close the program StackHash and BEX error when executing update for HP drivers.

Maybe I installed Kaspersky first next time?

    What should I do?

    Thank you!

No problem. Install the updates. You can install the anti-virus later.

Just don't start browsing the inet by updating.

    Hi poomoon,

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

After reviewing the issue, put the computer into Normal mode.
Uninstall or update the program that is causing the problem.

If this does not work, let us try to restore your computer to a previous state of safe mode.
Follow the instructions below to restore your computer to a previous state.

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.
    2. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
    3. in the System Restore dialog box, click Next.
    4. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created at least a week before the current date, and then click Next.

Note: If you do not find a restore point that is aged for at least a week, select the first point of restoration that is available.
    5. click on finish.
    6. the computer restarts. The system files and settings are returned to the State they were when the restore point was created.

Check whether the problem is resolved.

I suggest that you create a restore point before you follow the instructions below.
How to manually create a restore point?

1 open the system by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then click System.
    2. in the left pane, click System Protection. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    3. click on the tab System Protection and then click on create.

In the System Protection dialog box, type a description, and then click on create.

You can also try to remove the entry by using bcdedit command in Vista by following the links below.
    1. click on start.
    2. type cmd and click with the right button on cmd.exe to select run as administrator.
    3. Enter the following text.

    bcdedit [{ID}] /deletevalue datatatype

The {ID} is the GUID associated with the start-up input. If you do not specify a {ID}, the command changes the current operating system boot entry. If a boot entry is specified, the GUID associated with the start-up input must be enclosed in braces {}. To view the GUIDs for all active startup entries, use the bcdedit/enum command.
