I can't log off, reboot, lock or shut down my computer

I'm stop by closing the cover, but when I turn the back does not require password to access all. It's a dell inspiron with windows 7.

I have reset my password for my user account on my control panel computer and then downloaded the malwarebytes from the other suggestion, but it would not be in a first time. In a last effort, I went into options of closing and click on change user to ditch. This has brought to the top of my user account for my computer and required a password. After that I connected through this, all of a sudden I was able to accept the download of Malwarebytes. I had 75 or so viruses and one time it was deleted, I was able to restart my computer, lock and if all goes well shut down (I'm going to double check). Thank you for these two suggestions.

Any ideas?  I'm leaving tomorrow at 04:00 to travel and NEED this phone.  Have a "Genius Bar" appointment at 05:10 this evening in a busy shopping mall but prefer NOT to have to do!

    A C & P is appropriate here...

If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are a few standard repair procedures:

First of all, try a system reset.  He heals many ailments and it's fast, easy and safe...

Hold down the power button and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You won't lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

If the Reset does not work, try a restore.  Note that it is nowhere near as fast as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via a cable to the computer that you use for synchronization.  In iTunes, select the iPod/iPhone/iPad, and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen instructions for restoration and don't forget to say 'yes' to the backup and go back to iTunes on the computer (NOT iCloud) because it is more comprehensive.  You will be notified that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be deleted, but that the restoration is complete, you will be asked if you want the backup content to be copied to the iPod/iPhone/iPad.  Even once, say 'yes'.

At the end of the basic restore, you will be asked if you want to synchronize the iPad/iPod/iPhone.  As before, say 'yes'.  Note that syncs selection will disappear and the restoration will terminate if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If this happens, only applications that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective is simple – bottom right of iTunes, choose manual 'Sync '.

If you are unable to do the restore (or it does not help), go into Recovery Mode according to the instructions here.  You will lose all your data (game scores, etc.,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being recharged.  In addition, read this.

  • How can I get my action button can be log off and not closed? I select it in the customization tab, hit apply and then ok, but nothing changes.

How can I get my action button can be log off and not closed?  I select it in the customization tab, hit apply and then ok, but nothing changes.

    Hi Erin,.

Please check if you have followed the steps below to change the action of the Power button.

By default, clicking on close button in the start menu stop your computer. You can change this so that instead of close, your computer logs you off, crashes, restarts, goes into a State of sleep or goes into hibernation.

    1. open properties of the Start Menu by clicking theStart button, clickingControl Panel, appearance and personalization, then clicking on thetaskbar and Start Menuand the taskbar.

    2. click on theStart Menu tab.

    3. in the list ofthe power button , click an item, and then clickOK.

When you change the action of the closure of the key, the button name changes to reflect the new action.

If the steps above do not change the option, you can try creating a new user account on your computer and check to see if it helps you change.

To create a new user account.

    1. open user accounts by clicking the Start button, clickControl Panel, click user accounts and family safety (or by clicking onuser accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clickinguser accounts.

    2. click on Manage another account. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. click on create a new account.

4 type the name that you want to assign to the user account, click an account type, and then clickcreate an account.

If you are able to change the action of the power button by using the new profile, access the link below and follow the steps to correct the user's profile.

  • I can't close Firefox unless I have shut down the pc.

I am running Firefox 5.0.1 on Windows XP. DSL. Often, he uses a ton of memory, so I go out. However, it continues to run under the 'process' in the Windows taskbar, not to release memory. Often, I actually shut down the pc. Turn it back on, I try to open Firefox, and sometimes I have to try more than once. It works very well for a while, sometimes a whole day! Yippee. I have installed and uninstalled. I ran every diagnosis I have, even a disc defrag without success. I've updated all my plugins. What can I do else?

  • How can I log off Microsoft Solitaire Collection?

When I click on the Microsoft or Microsoft Mahjong Solitaire Collection, it automatically signs on behalf of Xbox Live for my son.  How can I disconnect the Xbox name & connect under a different name than the Xbox.  I can't find a way to close the session.  Help, please.

    Hi Amy,

Thanks for posting your question on the Forums of community of Microsoft.

According to the description, I understand that you want to use a different account to sign in with your name to read Microsoft Solitaire Collection or Microsoft Mahjong.

I would like to inform you that if your son is using Microsoft account he used to connect to the installation of Windows 8, then it is not possible to disconnect.

But if it uses a local account to play games, I suggest you follow the steps to connect.

    a. open the game in the start screen.

    b. Press windows Key + C.

    c. in the charms bar choose settings.

    d. under settings, go to accounts and log out.

Once you disconnect, you can use your account to login and play games.

  • I can't shut down my computer

An hour on my munitor is standing "blocking down."

    but it's not blocking down!

    Please help me!

I'm sorry for my bad English

Press and hold down the power button until the system stops - this should always work.  Pulling the plug will not work on laptops that will pass just to the battery.  Be sure to turn off your monitor with her as well (if necessary) power button.

Did you get any error messages and if so what did say EXACTLY?  What is the first time that this has happened?  If so, try a restore of the system for a couple of days to see if that solves the problem.  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.

If the problem persists, after back and we'll try other troubleshooting options to fix it.

    I hope this helps.

  • I've recently updated to Firefox 4. I can't find the trick to make Firefox 4 don't forget my tabs when I shut down my computer. How to bring back this feature?

In the earlier version, at the exit, Firefox asked me if I wanted to save my tabs for the next session. Firefox 4 is not that. It loses my tabs, so when I open a new session I starts from scratch rather than where I left.

You have no need say Firefox in advance to save tabs. You are always able to further define Firefox to open it from the last set of tabs instead of the home page.

Firefox will now normally also offer to reopen the last set of tabs by a button in the middle of the default start page, otherwise you can use the tab 'History', available in the "firefox" button
