I can't open any programs or files .exe 'open with' A window appears and asks me what program I want to use to open the file with. I can't access the internet, an error pops up that reads "Application not found". If I try to run a game I also have an application not found error, but the file type is then listed as .lnk I managed to run a scan antivirus (AVG) and nothing came wrong here.

That happened to my computer, one minute everythings fine and the other nothing works.

  • I can't open any .exe (including regedit.exe) file - if I try to open any program, I gives me an error that the application is not found.

I can not open all .exe files, including regedit.exe cited as a means to correct this type of error.  If I try to open any program gives me an error that there are no application or the 'Open with' window opens asking me to choose my program.  However, I can open the Word Document, although if I try to click on any shortcut to Microsoft Word it says application is not found.

I had a virus on my PC and used Malwarebytes to remove it.  The deletion was successful, but he seems to have created this new problem.  I don't know if it is directly related to the kidnapping, or whether the virus changed anything while he was active?

    Thanks for your help.  :)

  • I can't open some programs and also what indicating computer it is said GfxUI has stopped working. do what Mathilde?

I can't open some programs and also when the computer start he says that gfxui has stopped working. What I have to do work?

    Hi, Rosemary,

Do you know when this problem started?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.

Without knowing your OS or the exact error message and everything Word to Word or the manufacturer, brand and model of your computer (especially the chipset), it is very difficult to provide you with clear instructions or recommendations; However, here is a link to another thread where someone had the same problem and there are two solutions (both different and both worth a try - if the first doesn't work, try the second): http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/gfxui-has-stopped-working/e7f88c22-7c58-4fc2-9ae9-667556d0c4fc.

If this does not help, check out some of the alternative links on this problem in the following search: http://www.bing.com/search?q=gfxui%20has%20stopped%20working&PQ=gfxUI&SP=2&QS=AS&SK=AS1&sc=8-5&form=BB07SS&pc=BB07.  If you want, you can refine the search to include more information, such as your operating system or suite of the message and the results could be more useful.

I hope this helps.  If this isn't the case, post back with the above-mentioned information that would help as well as what you have tried and what happened when you did.

    Good luck!

I have the same problem and when I click on system restore I am invited again to choose a program to open it with... now what?

the windows system restore feature is a very important system.

and if it is defective or failed in some way, then this may be a sign that your whole system could be damaged or unstable.

what you can try is execution of the system via safe mode restore.

If this does not work yet, so the next step is to move your personal files, documents, photos and send boxes out of the system because the following methods that will help restore your system can put your personal files safe.

so after trying safe mode stage and or copy your personal files from the system, we can take the next steps.

Incidentally, if your computer came pre-installed with windows, or you halographic disc of microsoft for the operating system?
