I can't pin windows explore to the taskbar

When I try to pin code Explorer by clicking the taskbar it just do not do.  If I try to drag and drop a shortcut to the taskbar I get a red not sign.

I've been everywhere on the web, trying to find a solution for this.  I am running windows 7 64 bit with latest updates.  I have no idea how to explore me am released.  I tried everything unpin and repining it and that didn't work.  I went through the registry and have sought ever occurrence of the word "explorerer.exe" and that did not work.

I have 2 meeting of the pc side by side at the level of the same code.  It pinned the Explorer and it does not.

Given my research I'm not the only one on the web having this problem, but nobody has a difficulty.

You may need to show hidden files. Type the Folder Options in the search box above the Start button and select view advanced settings and check that the box "display files and folders" and 'Hide protected operating system files' are not checked. You may need to scroll down to see the second element. You should also make sure that the box before "Hide extensions of known file types" is not checked.

Go to C:\windows\explorer.exe explorer.exe in Windows Explorer. Right-click on the file and select PIN to the taskbar. Does it work?

  • I can't pin Internet Explorer or Windows explore to the taskbar

I accidentally marking my Internet Explorer and my Windows Explorer in my taskbar.  I tried to drag and drop both in the area of the taskbar and all I get is the Red cirlce with the inside line.  I went to windows explore and found them both in my windows folder.  When I right click on the two files it shows that they are pinned to the taskbar, but they are not displayed in the taskbar.  I tried to restart and that not resolved it and I recently added software and other changes so really, I don't want to use a 5 days ago restore point.  I'm on a laptop HP with Windows 7 Home Premium.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi Tricec,

If the icon does not appear in the task bar, it could be one of two things.  The application of Internet Explore didn't begin, having for result the icon is missing, or it is possible that the icon is actually there, but is hidden.

If the icon is hidden, you can

    a. right click on the taskbar.
    b. click Properties.
    c. here you will see an option to "Hide inactive icons" that can be unchecked as a test.
    d. click OK.

This will display all icons that are hidden or inactive; Please check if you see the icon of Internet Explore appears.

You can also try to re - select the theme of Windows 7 and check to see if that fixes the problem.

    1. right click on your desktop and choose personalize.
    2. click on the theme Windows 7
    3. close the window.

If this isn't the case, we can try to launch the application manually to see if it boots.  Check the desktop or under start / programs for the icon of Internet explore and try to run it manually.  If you receive an error message, make sure to write it.  After throw manually, check again for the icon in the taskbar.

Finally, the problem might be that Windows is not configured to launch the application of Internet explore when you start the computer to.

    a. click the Start button.
    b. Type "msconfig" in the search field.
    c. click OK.  Here click on the Startup tab, and then make sure that Internet explorer is listed here and it is checked.

If the problem persists then you must create a new user account and check the question of do you need to follow the steps below.

    a. open user accounts by clicking the Start button.
    b. click Control Panel.
    c. click on user accounts.
    d. family Safety.
    e. click on user accounts.
    f. click on manage another account.
    g. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation.
    h. type the password or provide confirmation.
    i. click on create a new account.
j.Type the name you want to assign to the user account.
    k.Click an account type.
    l.Click create an account.

    Now search for the question.

  • Re-pin Internet explorer in the taskbar of office

So, I accidentally this Internet Explorer default marking from the taskbar in Windows 8 desktop.  To try to solve this problem, I have created a new shortcut on my desktop for Internet Explorer and then that pinned to the taskbar, but it behaves differently.  Before all instances of Internet Explorer appears on the taskbar under the original Internet Explorer icon.  Now when I run my new pinned shortcut IE, it generates a second icon of IE on the task bar and each additional launch IE after which translates into a small tab which is drawn on the right edge of the new icon of IE.  Anyone know how to restore the Internet Explorer task pinned original shortened to the bar that installed with Windows 8.

    Thank you

  • Problem with Windows Explorer and the recorded files

When I save files from the internet and then open the folder with Windows Explorer in the backed up files, I find that WE consider not save them on my hard drive "change" more. I know it's strange, but I tend to retain files roughly in the order that I saved them, rather than by the name of the file or anything else. So now to manually change the files in a certain way, then save them to get them organized as I want. Of course, this can become very painful and long if I have a lot of files to organize this way. My question is: How can I get Windows to consider saving a file on my HDD as change? I use Firefox and updated recently, which may be the cause of the problem.

    Hi Flingle,

Were you able to save and access files correctly before you update Firefox?

You can create a new folder & try to download the file inside of Internet Explorer & check if the problem persists.

Hope the helps of information. Please post back and we do know.

  • Combo DVD/CD drive does not appear in Windows Explorer or the Device Manager

The combo DVD/CD on my laptop drive isn't in Device Manager or Windows Explorer.  The door is not ejected.  You must use a paperclip, poking into the hole to open it.  I also re - it sitting, but it changed nothing.  We had this laptop for 1.5 years and the disk worked great until yesterday when trying to install Starcraft II.  Installation failed and it has messed up also the DVD/CD drive.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are

    Thank you
    Dave

    Hi Dave,.

I have good news for you:

There are two ways to do what you want:

The first is the simplest and is already in Windows 7 (and Vista by the way):

    1. highlight one or more files that you want to know the way in Explorer.
    2. press and hold the SHIFT keyand right-click on one of the highlighted files.
    3. when the popup menu appears, click the entry in the path of the copy which appeared as if by magic, because you're now the SHIFT key.

A slightly better method, IMO, but it takes a little extra work is to add an extension to the send menu to allow you to right-click on one or more files and choose send to-> Clipboard (as name).  This somehow me seems more practical, because I'm used to the way in which the rear PowerToys when.  Such an extension, which also adds a nice Panel to help you manage the menu send to, is a neat package small freeware called send to toys, by Gabriele Ponti, which can be downloaded here: http://www.gabrieleponti.com/software/index.html#sendtotoys

A nice feature of the program send to toys, is that you can even have it put quotes around any path to file that contains white space.  Practice indeed!

    I hope this helps!

P.S., A command line similar to BACK tool is still (and always has been) available.  On the start menu, select: Start -> all programs -> Accessories -> command prompt.  Or you can just run: CMD.exe
