I can't print anything

My new XP-235 Epson printer cannot print from my Windows 7 laptop. All the advice I've found are for HP which is of no use to me.

Entered an Epson online chat and the guy talked me through, and I printed something before you sign, after which the original problem has occurred. And the laptop sometimes goes offline without my doing anything, but it's always connected wireless.

Click print area, small window comes up saying "connecting to printer", then a flash and nothing appears in the document queue area, where it says no printer is installed, but it is and scans of my laptop without a problem.

I had this new printer from Amazon on June 17 and I tried to turn it on since then; Help, please!

If I understand your situation, you have a wireless printer in which you cannot print.

How long after that you fixed the problem while it is done online with Epson repeat it problem and more importantly, what else has happened in the meantime?  The printer is turned off?  For how long?  Any other wifi device connected to your network during this interval?

The most common cause of printers connected, wifi is not printing, especially with symptoms as "a flash and nothing does appear in the queue of the document," is that the printer has received a different (by your router) IP address IP assigned to the printer when it was installed.  This can easily happen if, while the printer turns off, another device like a smart phone wifi is connected to the network.

Here's how to check for this problem:

A. determining the IP address configured in the printer

  1. Print a 'card to network status' by pressing the button (#4 on the diagram below) on the control panel of the printer

  2. Compare the IP listed on the sheet status of this network with the IP address of step B.

B. determine the IP address of the printer configured on the computer

  1. Click on the start ORB, then click on devices and printers
  2. Right click on your printer icon, and then select "printer properties".
  3. Select the "Ports" tab
  4. Expand the "Ports" column by clicking and dragging on the splitter bar in the header between the columns row:

  5. Make a note of the IP address in the line with the box checked
  6. Click 'Cancel' to close the window

If the IP addresses are different, you will not be able to print.  The solution is to configure the printer to use a static IP address rather than the default, which is to use an automatically configured IP address of DHCP server on the router.  Epson manuals for this printer are curiously silent on how to achieve this, so let's wait to cross that bridge once you confirm that an IP address has changed is really the problem.
