  OK, I'm a complete jerk. The behavior I described is exactly what it should be. I was able to do a quick update when I was working with files * already on the local disk *, which is what I actually did most of this time. The view on the Web option is the only way to access a direct view of the file.

  The downside is that view on the Web looks like that it only works with the default browser. It would be nice to be able to select the browsers to use if more than one is available, but it's a niggle (or a feature request) for another day.

  What I would do is not refresh the entire page, instead, I would use ajax to refresh the reports area.
  Your report should have a PPR (partial Page Refresh) model, because then you can use $a_report (report_region_id, 1, 5, 5) to refresh it.

  I recently restored my computer, do a fresh install of XP.  Since that all my photo folders are taking ages to open, or not opening at all.

  Looking around on the web, it seems that it is because Windows is recreating the thumbs.db so that I can display thumbnails.

  Other than to go to each individual photo folder and selecting all the files, then by selectingRefresh photos , is it possible to regenerate all thumbnails.

  I have a lot of folders with a lot of pictures in them, I don't want to have to go to each individual photo folder to be able to update my thumb nails, it will take me forever.  Can I refresh the thumbnails in several folders at the same time?  I can't find any way to do this.
